I could find on Aliexpress, shipping from Spain, for 560 Euros, which is a great price for the Mi 10

You’re still on about the Mi 12 Pro Max Prime Alpha Plus Mark IV?

Mi XV Optimus Prime Edition with 18GB RAM and 2TB storage already announced and EOLed.

Yes they were flagship killers till 120hz phones came out, that’s no longer the case. Things have changed since the Poco F2 and 9T Pro.

    >Very few phones that currently use the 855+ plus that are in the same price-ramge.

in what price range? mi10’s? god, go check realme x2 pro, x3 superzoom, op 7t, what the hell are u talking about? what is your point?

poco is considered flagship killer because of its spec and price, same goes for mi9t pro which was also considered flagship killer, do your math and tell me where the difference in price comes from and why poco is so much more expensive compared to mi9t pro offering nothing exlusively except for newer snapdragon and additional camera

why the heck are u even trying so hard to justify xiaomi’s moves? are you some kind of marketing manager? what is this? who are you?

The F2 Pro is basically the equivalent of the K30, not sure what your point is. Very few phones that currently use the 855+ plus that are in the same price-ramge. Plus the fact that the poco F2 plus is not a flagship phone, just because it has a 865 doesn’t make it a flagship.

    >these 5G phones are night n day compared to last year’s flagships.

what is night and day in poco f2 pro that makes it better than last year’s mi9t pro (and more pricey)? it’s basically same phone with 5g chipset and added camera (which nobody asked for) for a higher price? even the basic model has the same amount of ram

    >The SD 865 is a 5G phone that incorporates a whole new chipset that allows users to jump from 4-6GB of RAM to 16GB and beyond.

right, because there are no smartphones with 12 gb of ram and snap 855+, you clearly don’t know what you are talking about

yup, you can turn them off, but ofc it’s bugged as everything in xiaomi and after app update (like their stock music app for example) it reverts back to showing you ads (even tho they are still turned off lol)

more bugs (even their last launcher’s update was bad and caused non-stop crashes, on phones with android 9 and lower), bricks (look out for yourself how many ppl have problems with that), annoying ads, their android one serie is total failure, they release so many models and they promise to give at least one update, now think how would you be able to keep quality when you have like 100 phones to update?

You’re right gsm got that wrong base model is 128gb. But your entire argument is based around is the specs of Mi 10 series phones are ‘good enough’ when S20 offers more for around the same price.

The S20 and S20+ have 128gb on the entry models.
There isn’t much of a difference between 90hz and 120hz.
The Amoled on the Mi 10 is very good, definitely 2020 flagship territory.
Gorrila glass 6 is a plus?

Anyway the Mi 10 is playing un the same league with the S20+ not the smaller S20.

With your logic, Mi 6, Mi 8 and Mi 9 were the same devices with no differences and that’s why they cost the same.

Only way to compare last year’s flagships to this year’s flagships is this way..

In order for your logic to be true we would have to compare an SD 855 with 6 GB of RAM and a 60hz screen (2019) to an SD 865 with 8GB of ram and a 90hz screen (2020). This in theory would lower the pricetag to about 600$ give or take which you say should cost 399.99$.

The 10 Pro Plus is also 120hz on fullscreen mode (max res) while the S20 Ultra can only do 120hz @ 1080p, both use Gorilla 6 glass, both have a huge battery, both have excellent cameras with Sammy having a slight edge. Other than not being waterproof I don’t see any other cons. A fully loaded S20 Ultra is gonna cost you a bit over 1,400$ , I don’t see the 10 Pro Plus costing anywhere this amount.

Samsung and Apple have always been expensive, this is not new. Has nothing to do with Xiaomi raising the price by double. The SD 865 is a 5G phone that incorporates a whole new chipset that allows users to jump from 4-6GB of RAM to 16GB and beyond. The 120hz full Amoled panel (which is also made by Samsung) costs more than double what we normally pay. The cameras also get a nice upgrade, you get a huge battery, haptic feedback is also improved among other things.

How do you expect Xiaomi to sell you all of the above at 399.99$??

That’s old tech dude, these 5G phones are night n day compared to last year’s flagships. The only part that didn’t see a significant jump is the CPU, everything else is next gen.

You are comparing flagships that saw very little increase in anything as the years went by, these new flagships are on a whole different tier. You cannot compare a 60hz SD 855 w/6 GB of RAM to a 120hz SD 865 w/ 16GB of RAM. Hence the reason for the insane price tag.

Use the same common sense, look at Mi 8, Mi 9, Mi 6. Those were clearly flagship phones for the tech that was inside them and what e.g. Samsung was delivering for a much larger price. Somehow that didn’t stop Xiaomi to make those phones affordable? Sure, Mi 9 to Mi 10 is an improvement, not going to deny that. But so was Mi 6 to Mi 8 and Mi 8 to Mi 9 while prices remained the same (~400€). I could also list the things that were improved in Mi 9 or Mi 8, yet price didn’t just double out of nowhere. It’s all due to Apple and Samsung increasing their prices and nothing more.

Listen, use common sense, the reason why these phones are no longer affordable is because it’s all new tech, you are going from having 6GB of ram to a whopping 16GB, that’s almost 200$ more in RAM alone, going from 60hz to 120hz costs an arm and a leg, you get 65W fast charging, Samsung can’t even compete with Xiaomi when it comes to fast charging. 5G modem is not cheap when compared to the 4G modem. Batteries are no longer 3300mah for a flagship, now they range from 4000-5200mah and sometimes beyond that.

I just did, didn’t see any differences other than the size of the phone, the camera, and the res. Everything else is almost identical.

People buy iPhones during many years. With less hardware specs and features and for higher price. Just for different OS. And they happy with it. So – yes. If it has somethink that they want (xiaomi ecosystem for example)

How is the Mi 10 pro a failure? No one will argue the price is too high but the phone itself is really good. Reviews are good. Good battery life and charging. Good cameras. Good display. One of, if not the best sounding speakers on a phone.

The only major negative I see is the lack of IP rating.

    indeed they were

xiaomi’s software was always meh, but their price was right and you could forgive them bugs, ads, etc, now software is even worse, and prices are higher

But it’s not a large phone. Every time a max user ask for a new large phone, 6.7″ gets suggested. Yeah, we get it, every oem and their mother makes a 6.7″ phone. They’re still not large phones. They’re the reason why max haven’t continued cause it’s so damn hard to market the max series when people look at the numbers and go “oh, it’s only 0.2 inch difference” when it’s heaven and earth thanks to the aspect ratio that never gets mentioned in headlines.

    Just, ugggghh

No it’s not. How many times do we need to go through this?

Those are just very long 5.5″ 16:9 phones. They’re not gonna be true large screens

Black shark 3 pro is our only choice this year so far.

But it wasn’t always like that – Xiaomi, OnePlus phones used to be best bang for the buck. Earlier Xiaomi and Oneplus models had flagship specs and much lower prices. Mi 6, 8, 9, all were flagships and were 200-400$ cheaper than flagships of Samsung et al… Mi 9 was a flagship and costs 400$ whereas Mi 10 nearly doubled in price.

Based on reveal of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, the part “Max” was as spiritual successor of Mi Max series because those will not be continued. And the screen is 6.7 so it’s quite big and Redmi Note 9S is bellow 200 euroes.

Maybe that could be your choice.

Eh S20 is a good phone no doubt, but I still consider Mi 10 Pro over S20, especially if you’re on a region with Exynos version.

That’s aside, Mi 10 on my region is even cheaper than S20, so there’s that.

This, very much. I think Xiaomi saw the opportunity with Huawei losing marketshare internationally (because of Google), and they’re trying to fill its spot, but they’re not up to par yet.

Xiaomi really increased they prices this year outside of China, competing with the top ones.
This will be even more expansive.

Only specs I see that differ are the camera. Phone A has a full res 120hz display while phone B’s resolution has to be lowered in order to achieve 120hz. I don’t really see the differences since the chipset is the same.

Seriously? Better OS, well that’s subjective so we’ll leave that there.

As far as update I don’t know how someone can be that misinformed, if you own a Xiaomi phone you’d know updates are completely irregular, you apparently missed the android one Xiaomi phone scandal where Google called them out for not updating their phones. Samsung S20 phones get updated monthly with the latest security patch before Google does on the pixel phones lol, every single month since it’s release.

Mi has gorilla glass 5, S20 has 6, higher ppi 2x amoled, ip68, 32bit audio, 15 more LTE bands with cat20, let’s not get started on the superior cameras and after sales support.

It already has a SD865, but adding 4 more GB of RAM, when 12 is more than enough, is a bit much. 120Hz vs 90? I couldn’t care less. And an extra 2x on zoom! Yippee! I got my 10 Pro for a good deal, but have no desire to “upgrade” to a + model.

Better in what regard ? Half of the stuff that’s on the mi series is bought from samsung including displays. You get a better OS with xiaomi, better updates(and for longer), build quality is also the same .. I think between both phones picking one over the other is a matter of taste.

Don’t buy the phone then, there are many options to choose from at every price point.

1 million apparently for both models in China and globally, given everything that’s been going on that’s not bad but it doesn’t even come close to k20 and k20 pro (excluding mi 9t and pro, the global version) that sold 4.5 million by December.

You didn’t understand the point, where Xiaomi is putting the price it’s a direct competitor to the S20 phones and they are just better all-round phones no one can argue that. I’m a big Xiaomi fan don’t get me wrong but I wouldn’t even consider getting a mi 10 pro over a s20

    Too late!

Already released and EOLed while you were typing that comment.

You can still get the Mi 11 Pro Max Mark III for 2000 Euros, but you better hurry, before even that’s……and you missed the boat!

    Again!

Meanwhile, Mi 12 Max Prime Alpha already announced!

Mi 10 series is a failure imo global markets it’s priced too high, around the same as Samsung’s S20 series phones which are significantly better.

Xiaomi jumped the gun to go premium they aren’t ready yet and this phone is no exception.
