bit late but I had the same issue to with the 12.5, after months of this it finally stopped working altogether. had to re-solder a transistor on the main board that had burned out. Works again as normal but the same transistor will probably go again in the future. They are badly designed boards.

I have mi notebook pro 15 2018 and I love it. Works great runs smooth and temps are good. When I play a game like Rimworld or Avorion I just rise the case up to make airflow better and It handles my casual gameing pretty good.

You may need to perform a battery reset. Check if there is a tiny battery icon next to a pinhole on the bottom of your laptop.
Under device manager, uninstall the pci battery driver.
Drain battery completely, unplug, press down power button for ten seconds. Press battery reset button with a pin for ten seconds, Plug it back in and try. Driver will get auto installed at startup.

Maybe there is something wrong with a chip connecting power to the board itself? Try disconnecting the battery from the laptop and see if it boots at all with the charger plugged in. If yes, probably the battery’s busted. If not, then the board might be damaged

Sure the battery was replaced? Some places charge you for stuff that was never done.

Check your settings on backup power.

As someone else said its likely a sensor or battery power plug that is the problem. See if there are youtube videos on how to open it and remove battery.

My tablet wasnt working when I got it new. Opened it up, battery cable disconnected. That was 4 years ago.

I feel like it might be a Bios thing now that 2 devices (Mi Air 13.3″ and 12.5″) were mentioned having the same problem and also OP mention it’ll only boot without charger at 100% which is strange… I don’t know if Xiaomi has the same thing as HP which is an app to update drivers, but in the HP’s there is an option to also update Bios without much hassle… Check if there’s something like that and try and update the Bios… And if there’s not, you could try to upgrade it yourself… Even though I wouldn’t recommend it as you need get into Bios unless you are sure you want to do it… (or it could be a mother board problem)

If the battery is ok, penske is the electronic that takes that power and send it to the rest of the components. But that’s usually part of the motherboard as someone said above.

My wife’s Mi Air 12.5 has exactly the same problem! And also after replacing a battery. My idea is that it has something to do with after previous battery has swollen, and the metal housing was deformed, something just can’t be same as before. I dunno. She kind of used to it, and tries to not shutdown the unit, only put it to sleep, and never discharge fully.

Would be great to find a solution though…

I had a similar issue around one year ago.
After formating/clean install windows and then Ubuntu and getting crazy with it I bought a new battery from AliExpress and replaced the old one.
    Working fine since then.

Someone told me to reinstall the drivers of the battery. I have a similar problem but I didn’t do it yet.

It seems to not be a hardware problem but software related.

I don’t know specifically about this laptop. But in my experience (i used to work in a Dell Repair Center), but if you can, open the laptop and check if the power connection circuit is separated from the mainboard, you’ll need replace this part, the bad news is if the power connection circuit is integrated into the mainboard, this will be a painful replacement.

But you do know, that every device on the entire world can boot up, no matter if the battery has 100% or 10%. I think what you’re referring to is maybe a Firmware, BIOS or OS Upgrade but even there, most of devices only require at least 50%.

Can you open it? Sometimes there is a push button on the motherboard that doesn’t allow boot without DC power, i.e, the power connector plugged it. Typically, if the battery is swelling from age, the chassis gets pushed up. As a result, the pushbutton is no longer in a switched on state.. so it will only power on from Being plugged in.

I don’t know though. Might be worth a look.

Was the battery plugged properly? Maybe that’s the cause of your problem

Turn on the laptop connected to the charger, let the OS start, disconnect the charger and check the time it takes to shut down, if it does it quickly it’s because your “new” battery is not new.
