I guess it’s to prevent to corrupt your data
Turn on the laptop connected to the charger, let the OS start, disconnect the charger and check the time it takes to shut down, if it does it quickly it’s because your “new” battery is not new.
Was the battery plugged properly? Maybe that’s the cause of your problem
Can you open it? Sometimes there is a push button on the motherboard that doesn’t allow boot without DC power, i.e, the power connector plugged it. Typically, if the battery is swelling from age, the chassis gets pushed up. As a result, the pushbutton is no longer in a switched on state.. so it will only power on from Being plugged in.
I don’t know though. Might be worth a look.
How it would help if mid turning on while system is loading battery is empty and it’s turn itself off and create problems? Congratz, happy holidays
If battery was not the problem i will say mainboard
But you do know, that every device on the entire world can boot up, no matter if the battery has 100% or 10%. I think what you’re referring to is maybe a Firmware, BIOS or OS Upgrade but even there, most of devices only require at least 50%.
the port that connects the battery to the motherboard might be no connected properly
I don’t know specifically about this laptop. But in my experience (i used to work in a Dell Repair Center), but if you can, open the laptop and check if the power connection circuit is separated from the mainboard, you’ll need replace this part, the bad news is if the power connection circuit is integrated into the mainboard, this will be a painful replacement.
i have nothing smart to say but pls let us know if you fix the problem, am very interested.
Probably Mobo problem
Can be some chip on the board that has the problem.. like he cant tell if the battery can give him electricity. Go to a good raiper store that can fix boards. can cost like 40-60euros or less if is just the chip
When i was raipering laptops years ago… i remember all of them have a system like this… so if is board you can change it.
Check for the connectors connecting the battery, might be damaged
Yeah but in my laptop i had a setting to choose batter level to boot up. It’s good for damaged battery
Someone told me to reinstall the drivers of the battery. I have a similar problem but I didn’t do it yet.
It seems to not be a hardware problem but software related.
anything else you’ve changed/added like ram?
I had a similar issue around one year ago.
After formating/clean install windows and then Ubuntu and getting crazy with it I bought a new battery from AliExpress and replaced the old one.
Working fine since then.

please let us know the solution when you solve the issue
Noted. Idk then. But that might be apart of the problem
xiaomi’s laptop naming sounds a bit familiar ngl
My wife’s Mi Air 12.5 has exactly the same problem! And also after replacing a battery. My idea is that it has something to do with after previous battery has swollen, and the metal housing was deformed, something just can’t be same as before. I dunno. She kind of used to it, and tries to not shutdown the unit, only put it to sleep, and never discharge fully.
Would be great to find a solution though…
Check my profile/posts, I had the question and the multiple stages/ solution posted here in this board 9 months ago.
I don’t know how to share the link to it…(I’m on the phone)
If the battery is ok, penske is the electronic that takes that power and send it to the rest of the components. But that’s usually part of the motherboard as someone said above.
@nkesesidis this guy knows how to repair it https://youtu.be/WMPJCLI3WGA
I feel like it might be a Bios thing now that 2 devices (Mi Air 13.3″ and 12.5″) were mentioned having the same problem and also OP mention it’ll only boot without charger at 100% which is strange… I don’t know if Xiaomi has the same thing as HP which is an app to update drivers, but in the HP’s there is an option to also update Bios without much hassle… Check if there’s something like that and try and update the Bios… And if there’s not, you could try to upgrade it yourself… Even though I wouldn’t recommend it as you need get into Bios unless you are sure you want to do it… (or it could be a mother board problem)
Have you tried updating the bios or resetting the CMOS?
Plug the charger in.
try recalibrating the battery in bios
Sure the battery was replaced? Some places charge you for stuff that was never done.
Check your settings on backup power.
As someone else said its likely a sensor or battery power plug that is the problem. See if there are youtube videos on how to open it and remove battery.
My tablet wasnt working when I got it new. Opened it up, battery cable disconnected. That was 4 years ago.
Another employee at my work at the same issue with the Mi Air. It was a defective battery. Its not hard to replace.
I wonder if he got the two batteries confused and just put the old one back in.
Maybe there is something wrong with a chip connecting power to the board itself? Try disconnecting the battery from the laptop and see if it boots at all with the charger plugged in. If yes, probably the battery’s busted. If not, then the board might be damaged
That feels like they fixed the problem . I hope OP will have the same. Seems the connection on the motherboard does the thing.
I think the connection between your laptop and your battery is having problem. Ask the dude who sell you your battery.
You may need to perform a battery reset. Check if there is a tiny battery icon next to a pinhole on the bottom of your laptop.
Under device manager, uninstall the pci battery driver.
Drain battery completely, unplug, press down power button for ten seconds. Press battery reset button with a pin for ten seconds, Plug it back in and try. Driver will get auto installed at startup.
Similar energy issues in other brands are often solved by clearing the CMOS settings. Maybe that would help
Guys like him think a manufacturer is bad because he’s chinese.
Every iPhone is manufactured in china just the headquarter is in USA
Hey, I can’t help you unfortunately, but do you like xiaomi laptops? Would you recommend them for me?
Nowhere is this a default setting let alone common
I have mi notebook pro 15 2018 and I love it. Works great runs smooth and temps are good. When I play a game like Rimworld or Avorion I just rise the case up to make airflow better and It handles my casual gameing pretty good.

Hey, have you found a solution ? I’ve got the same issue….
i also have got the same problem, i agree it’s the poor quality battery that amazon sellers send you (one i’ve bought from ebay didn’t even charge). Wich battery do you bought from aliexpress, please tell me, i’m going crazy
I’ve got the same problem. It’s the poor quality battery replacement, have you find a working one? Can you send me the link?
Absolutely same issue. So tired to find any solution. Already changed 3 batteries. Do you still didn’t resolve it?
I also changed the battery and that didn’t help either.. I’ll be trying to completely reinstall windows. I’ll keep you posted
any updates mate?
bit late but I had the same issue to with the 12.5, after months of this it finally stopped working altogether. had to re-solder a transistor on the main board that had burned out. Works again as normal but the same transistor will probably go again in the future. They are badly designed boards.
