I turn on the optimization back after i done install it. Does it not change after all?

MIUI closely follows Google behind like a child (remember how they replaced native call recording with Google Dialer’s recording feature?). They could have been directed by Google to turn off this feature for YouTube so people will still try to buy YouTube premium.
Disabling and/or reenabling MIUI optimization resets *any and all* application permissions in MIUI 12! Every single time! It’s a gigantic pain in the ass and it needs to be done for every single Vanced update.
It’s much less annoying to just download the correct Vanced apks and install them via ADB.

Nice, meanwhile this option for me disappeared ages ago. I mean vanced works perfect so I don’t care, Lucky Patcher iirc also worked so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯, but I don’t know about other things.

Well not a solution but a lil trick. Message urself link of any utube vid on what’s app and then use what’s app in floating mode. Open the link and utube opens in floating mode too . Cheers

yep it work for me with vanced. I don’t know if it’s because I’m on a custom ROM, seems weird miui would disable it for specific app.

Well, duh. It’s the split apks that are the issue. And there is no current, official Vanced build that isn’t split. Ghostrider’s mod might be a solution if you don’t want to go ADB, haven’t tried it myself.

You may need to go over app permissions (allowing to draw over other apps, e.g.), disable MIUI battery optimizations for Firefox, enable all notifications, etc., if you’re not getting this.
You don’t need to disable MIUI Optimizations if you’re on Xiaomi.EU ROMs newer than 20.2 something build. For those on official ROMs like me, it’s a must to disable it, or use ADB and Shizuku to install Vanced every time it’s updated.
No need. Just download vanced from mobilism, they’ve the newer version without those split apk thingy.

Me too. But i wonder does Soi and mikroG make android system to rise to 20% usage and battery consumption. I have Hotspot nonstop on all the time because i use phone flat internet for PC over 2.4Ghz wifi, hotspot battery consumption depends on data, doesent use more than 20% overall when just gamin online till recently android system was using 20% all the time, even at night when screen is off.

What they did was entirely legal though, it wasn’t hacking the app to activate premium features like Vance’s does and is instead a generalised feature of the os. Perhaps Google made YouTube not compatible by blocking lower resolutions/dynamic resolution or whatever affects this feature

Use NewPipe. It requires download and updates from web browser, but has no ads, no problem with installation plus you have free downloads in multiple formats, as sound or video, it has no ads. It’s for free. It’s ad-free. What more do you want?

Imo Vanced Is the GOAT of all apps. Literally the only essential app I can’t do without. It’s the best app of all time.
No it wasn’t legal cos Xiaomi made a work around for a premium feature and since it worked before I’m assuming that it’s either YouTube cutting compatibility like you said or just Xiaomi being forced to remove it.

Vanced works absolutely fine with or without MIUI optimization.
It’s the installation of split-APKs that are an issue with MIUI Optimization at the moment.
Given the **huge** mess than toggling MIUI optimization, even once, creates – it’s far easier to simply install split-apks via ADB instead.
You can use NewPipe but it’s an entirely different app, not modded stock yt.

You cant background play YouTube with any browser. You need to use a modded Youtube app for a premium experience. Browser with adblock extension ain’t gonna cut it for me.

But with Vanced you got that premium feature picture in picture mode. It’s basically a small floating video.
What why would you need to turn off optimization? Never had to do that with my Mi 9 on any version of Vanced. Or maybe it’s because I’m on xiaomi.eu?
The gesture controls mess it up. I had the window before I switched to gesture controls, now I don’t I don’t use the floating window though so that’s not a huge problem. Yes, just tested that now, playing a music video and locked the phone and I can still hear it playing fine
It was probably because Google could sue them for letting people use a feature meant for paid memberships only. Also Xiaomi does indeed follow Google but I think that’s a good thing.

I use ghostriders’ non root split versions on MIUI 10 and 12 on EU and Global never had an issue

Yes absolutely, after turning optimization on, you need to reboot your phone so the messy main screen gets organized.
I would have Youtube on, summon Control center, click floating windows.
After installing Vanced just turn on MIUI optimization everything will be okay even fonts

You dont need to, Use older version and you’re good to go! No need to turn off MIUI Optimisation.

It is still possible. Just pull down the controls center and tap on “Floating windows”. Be sure to be in Landscape mode, for a true “picture in picture” mode. On my device the video disappears sometimes. The solution is to pause and resume the video.

Yes. Playback in the background just works. To activate PIP mode, first go into fullscreen, then leave with going to home.

I could swear I couldn’t do that before, not even background play, let alone screen off play. I believe that’s a new thing, I dunno.
Again it’s legal because they are not altering proprietary code, Xiaomi has the right to do what they want on their fork of android, it’s like saying that it is illegal for Google to support sideloading because it can be used to not pay the candy crash developers or whatever. Furthermore the premium features of YouTube include background playing and PiP, neither of these features is being used as both the video toolbox feature and the multitasking feature are not forcing the app to use those bit are rather their own implementation (the multitasking is like standard android multiwindows but more freely movable and the screen off play is just a layer on top of the app and not actually background playing of the app).
Btw I think the problem of not being able to open YouTube in the multitasking is that it was added to the apps in the video toolbox, if you remove it from there it will work again as before. I’d say that this is a miui bug or a “feature”
