Damn… I now have flashbacks to Symbian. Didn’t realize that until now.
what this logo is achieving right now is attracting attention, many people who never heard of xiaomi will look at this news story and know the xiaomi name, some will research about their products, and of them, some will be tempted to go ahead and buy something from xiaomi… whether they wanted it or not, they’re getting more than 300k worth of marketing from this…
Yeah I’m tired of people attacking such things.
It’s like judging a book by its cover. I appreciate the effort they put in to build a reason for the design, not the effort to literally just increase the border radius from 2px to 10px.
Giving a story behind a – simple – design gives it much more dimension, and yes, I like that they gave it an “alive” influence and overall concept.
Edit: of course I get downvoted
And it took three years.

Apparently only 20+seconds, based on another post in this subreddit.

3 years to round some corners. oh boy.
The thing is that logo is uninspired and totally a Samsung One UI ripp off.
Prolly money laundry, cause imagine “spending” that money on that logo…
Is a very nice logo tho
And the the guy in the photo with the nose outside the mask…
Yup, I’m with you there. Most company logos can be recreated by anyone who has some experience with graphic design. Coming up with the design is another story, though.
I think it has more to do with the designers reputation and fame .
More often than not, the buyers are paying for the story and idea etc behind the logo. Not for rounding off the edges lol.
But I hear you, it’s pretty much crazyiness to me too LOL
Lol isn’t this pretty much with all logos?
Nope.
Yeah, so much research into rounding the corners. lol.
I hate Samsung chubby round edge rectangle. I like iOS round edge rectangle.
I hope this doesn’t make them switch to Samsung style icons, I have no patience for reskining icons no more.
That shape/design was first introduced by Nokia/Symbian Foundation with their Symbian Belle release IIRC. Samsung started using it with One UI much later.
With PR in general would say. Doing something is cheap most of the time, deciding what to do is expensive
Reminds me of that episode of silicon valley where they try to design logo.
