I have this now and it is buggy. Apps that support dark mode work fine in dark mode if I set the app on dark mode and have in light mode. If I put dark mode on in the phone it fucks up the apps in dark mode, changes colors that should not be changed etc. It’s a pity so now I have dialer notifications on white since other apps would be screwed

AND its annoying as fuck because a lot of third party apps have QR codes and may not necessarily be properly programmed so they stop working. OR interface items that are black so you can’t see those buttons.

Samsung provides one android update (that’s not late much like Xiaomi though) and security updates for 2 years bi monthly. My mother’s m31 gets frequent updates. Same case with my friend’s m30s. My note 7 gets once in 4 months even in the first year. For the last two years samsung and realme updates are miles better than Xiaomi.

As someone who switched from IPS to OLED and back to IPS…. I really don’t mind it. No worry about making all my apps dark theme, or getting annoyed when a site or app doesn’t have a dark theme…for battery use, because now its all the same 😀

I noticed your mi note 10 lite flair. Does yours still works fine? Mine is acting weird after 2 months, the whole pixel of the right side status bar has died/blacked out and the whole screen flickers white everytime I screen on my mi note 10 lite.

I m still waiting for a new update on my MI 10 lite 5g… After 2 months.

At first it shipped with miui 11? I don’t exactly remember or care, but dark mode was working just fine, no universal black mode or anything too special. Also the gestures were the android 10 default ones with the bottom bar and everything. Honestly it was nice.

Then miui 12 update came in. Now gestures are the miui ones. The dark mode light mode switch is bugged and makes some text boxes and elements just blend black to black or white to white. And the only option I see is either or. No default what apps want to do.

I like the phone. But man… You d think some kind of bugs wouldn’t pass QA, dev channel or what not.

We ll see when and what the next update does for the device. In general, I may be out from xiaomi race. My last redmi note 5 last updates just kept the same bugs in that they introduced at some point with updates. Like wifi Hotspot not working 5GHz glitch or what not and some other minor issues. But when it takes over a year and it was not fixed yet well… Not cool.

Only reason why I might buy another xiaomi is the price and perhaps Google has made android much more compartmentalized so that xiaomi can’t just fk it up with an update one day and then forget about it

    No it isn’t. Why would the A01 be included when the A11, 21, 31 41 and M 21, 31 and 41 aren’t?

You are still getting updates, just not OS updates, and this information was available before you bought the phone.

Nope, they do, at least on the A01, that’s a budget phone.
I know, but Xiaomi could at least give some more updates, I was not expecting my Note 8 Pro to receive 1 update only.
Edit: Nope, only A51 and superior, my bad.

It does help with LCDs too, as they can lower the brightness, but it’s nowhere near as effective.

Some Redmi phones don’t have it (my Redmi Note 8 Pro for example), and I hate the fact they only update once on budget phones when Samsung is giving 3 major updates to their budget, mid range, and flagship phones, I still really like Xiaomi though, and this LCD panel is actually good having in count the price of this phone, and at least we still get MIUI updates.

I think Darkmode is not a flagship feature. Fort of all it’s for design and looking. So you can use it on all Xiaomi devices. A better battery life is a nice side effect, that even works with Mi 10 Lite and other low cost OLED phones from Xiaomi. I think Redmi uses OLED as well. 🤔 Haha I really do not now why hate that so much. Other Brands does not have this feature.

They don’t die that’s not true. However there’s black smearing which looks bad on low brightness

Which part of that article says anything about LCD displays? All I read about there was about OLED displays and black vs gray.

And even about gray vs black – while it may be true that gray is almost as energy efficient as black, I think most like the pure black experience for the feel of not having any edges on display.

Sadly. Poco F3 would be a perfect phone for me if it wasn’t for the IPS display.

Yeah since OlED needs less power and is brighter I would go for an OLED anyways. Don t know who is picking the Mi 10T over the Mi10 despite the LCD panel.

If we use black for real black they die, if we use them too bright they burn, if we crack them it costs nearly the phone. What a huge responsibility to use them.

Some oled panels don’t work after keeping most pixels in the off state for so long, hence the dark grey from Google

Actually, the difference in battery saving is very small. Anyway, users should be able to choose between dark gray and black.

Because certain apps just look better in light mode and the forced MIUI dark mode can break them.

I think dark mode should make the colours black not dark gray. It saves more battery and it looks way better. All the Google apps are dark gray. I hate using dark gray dialer on my phone.

Well most of the apps don’t have darkmode right. Which common app supports darkmode? Would love to see the app detecting that darkmode is on and put it’s own skin on top.
