Warranty on my Mi 8 expired recently and it was slowing down. Time for a factory reset!
Then I thought of trying the xiaomi.eu ROM that my local forum was hyping about.
After using it for a week, I won’t be looking back.
Xiaomi.eu is better than stock in almost every way! Battery, GPS and Antutu. All better performance.
So many options. Multiple choices of Always On clock faces.
Way better stock camera app.
App drawer!
Is it better than Havoc, Pixel Experience, Ressurection etc.? That is not a relevant question. Xiaomi.eu ROM allows me to have the MIUI experience in a way I really want it.
I bought a Mi 8 because I wanted a Xiaomi phone. I love how intuitive MIUI is. But if you prefer a discount Pixel on your Mi phone, there are ROMs for that.
Xiaomi.eu team is doing something that no other community is doing. OnePlus fans don’t maintain a ROM based on Oxygen OS. Same for Samsung.
Thanks for reading. Thank you Xiaomi.eu team.
TLDR. Xiaomi.eu ROM feels familiar, yet different in really good ways.
Isn’t freedom OS based on oxygen OS?
May be a dumb question, but can you use Google Pay etc. on Xiaomi.eu and do you have to do anything special for that? Like having to re-lock the bootloader?
no all is working out of the box, even safetynet
love it too, it’s the perfect version of MIUI
Has been using weekly version since the first day I had unlocked the phone, since I was aware that default international rom is full of Chinese bloatware.
Never had an urge to change rom, using it since summer 2016.
How do I install it on my redmi note 5 pro?
What’s the difference?
I have Mi8 and on Xiaomi.eu battery is noticeably worse than on Lineage OS or Resurrection Remix. I can get 6 hours SoT on RR while barely 4 on Xiaomi.eu. And I’m not even speaking about broken notifications and apps being closed much much sooner on Xiaomi.eu. I wish my 6gb ram phone would hold applications as much as iPhone SE with 2gb.
for me i have only bad experience i have redmi note 7 and now after update from chinise rom to global its logo lopp stuck with bootlaoder lock in my contry no service center of xiaomi, and i cant pay for transfer money out cause of restriction low, now its 4 month with this situation
It’s basically just MIUI but debloated and made specifically by European devs.
Amazing, thank you.
> Xiaomi.eu team is doing something that no other community is doing. OnePlus fans don’t maintain a ROM based on Oxygen OS. Same for Samsung
You clearly never used OnePlus or Samsung before to say such thing
Amazing – never seen that before! How reliable is it?
I can put it on my RN5? Unloked bootloader, MIUI 10.3.2.. it will brick it?
I too would like to have the answer to this question.
Very, I’ve been using them for about 2.5 years since the time xiaomi phones were rare and a total geek thing. Very, very stable!
If I am not mistaken you do have to relock the bootloader to use netflix and gpay without root
I use gpay and already use official Netflix app in the past. all of that with Xiaomi eu AND root (magisk) for Netflix it can not work now, for me it was working a few month ago, they can have fixed the root detection etc but I don’t fix so.
anyway never had any problems with Xiaomi eu and magisk about safetynet or things like that
edit : and with the bootloader unlocked & twrp installed
and it don’t works without the magisk module ?
Which module
Beautiful! Is it possible to update them once a new MIUI comes around like in the regular ROM or do I have to rebuild and manually reflash?
Used two versions on my Redmi 4x. Very stable ROMs, great performance and battery life.
It works for me, but I had to download the APK. The Play store said Netflix wasn’t compatible, the APK works fine.
Does anyone know how I can set a WiFi network as metered on Xiaomi.eu/MIUI? They seem to have disabled this extremely useful option for no reason.
Does this rom comes with dual app support?
I don’t expect a full walkthrough or anything, but as someone with a Redmi Note 5 that I’ve had for around six months or so, would this be something worth trying?
I’m mainly curious as to the risk, as I can’t afford to go buy a replacement phone if it’s potentially going to brick it.
does google play and apps still work as normal?
how is the battery life on Mi8 eu rom?
When i tested xiaomi.eu I can’t get “okay google” to trigger. Everything else is amazing tho.
Switched to lineageOS. Nope, I’m not a fan of stock android now. I need to download everything. Even just to scroll screenshot i have to download another apps
Same here for Mi Max2.. Awasome experience
Is there a way to install it without breaking the warranty of my phone?
1. Screenshot
2. click “scroll” just Below the small screenshot preview result
Or if it’s not like that:
1. Screenshot
2. Click the small pic (result of screenshot) at top right
3. Click scroll
Just wait till you try custom ROMs it’s even better 😅
Now try out Pixel Experience and be amazed
AFAIK Xiaomi doesn’t void warranty if you flash a custom ROM.
I think the debloating app doesn’t actually uninstall the bloat but disables them for the current user through adb commands, so there will not be any change in the storage space.
Is it possible to switch to Xiaomi.eu without losing all my data(apps, settings, etc.) and having to manually reinstall/reconfigure everything?
The problem I have with xiaomi.eu compared to global EEA rom is that it is giving permissions to every Miui app and even if I changed that it reverts back to how it was, why tf would the download app have acces to my camera, also why would the calculator have acces to my phone and contacts and storage, while on EEA global none of these permissions are given.
You can download the exact fastboot rom form http://en.miui.com/a-234.html and download miflash tool. Then extract the fastboot rom package to a hard disk drive of your pc (example:- D:\) via winrar or 7zip. Then again extract the folder from the zip file and open mi flash tool in pc, connect your phone to the pc via usb cable and enter fastboot mode by pressing vol down + power button together and leave the phone aside. Then in pc select the path of the folder which you have just extracted, then select clean all and lock if you want to lock your bootloader back, or just select clean all and press start button. Wait for about 8-10 minutes untill the phone automatically boots into miui setup screen. Enjoy
Rooting and unlocking doesn’t void. but i think custom rom does. That’s what my friend said after taking it to service center.
Odd. OK/Hey Google works for me
Last time I tried xiaomi.eu rom on my Mi 9T, Google Pay was not working for me, even with Magisk Hide, deleting folders in TWRP, etc. Is there any solution for this?
I guess if it gets messed up due to a custom ROM you can’t claim it for that. But if it develops a hardware issue you can always revert to the stock rom.
Agreed, been used it around 1 years since I bought my R5+, but lately I got back to Havoc because I want Pie in my phone xD (waiting [MIUI.eu](https://MIUI.eu) releasing Pie for R5+ it’s kinda pain)
Because custom roms can never be as well optimized as MIUI itself. MIUI is very good once you clean it out of bloat and ads.
All the MIUI’s good stuff but with less bloat and zero ads.
Yup.. i think that’s how it works.
It used to be called sMIUI. Around 3 years ago there was an affair with it. Seemingly they were stealing some data without the user’s consent. Not sure if I would publicly recommend it to anyone.
Yes. That feature from regular MIUI has not been stripped out.
No. You have to install a custom recovery like TWRP and flash the ROM like any other custom ROM. It can’t be flashed on top of regular MIUI, so you will not be able to keep your data. Some data that was backed up to Mi Cloud may be restored, however most data will not.
I’ll never understand the hype about the app drawer. I remember when I was getting my first Xiaomi, everyone was warning me there’s no app drawer like that’s some kind of a deal breaker
Already figured it out. Thanks
I’m on mi8 global rom. Worth changing then?
did you activate it via settings etc ?
If you want MIUI it’s certainly better than the default version. It still comes with 100 Xiaomi services and apps I don’t want so I stick with a clean custom ROM like lineage.
You can remove a lot of those via adb or root but it doesn’t change that it’s deeply ingrained into the OS. Even if you remove the MiUI cloud for example, the text to remind you to log in still shows up on other parts of the OS. All the default apps also want permission to phone home for no reason at all.
So nah, I think some features like WiFi sharing over QR code are nice, but it’s not worth the trade-off
> Seemingly they were stealing some data without the user’s consent.
Can you elaborate? I was only able to find why they decided to stop sMIUI, but not the “scandal” itself.
Maybe a dumb question, are these connected to official MIUI ROM? Basically, of i use this can I restore my phone from my MIUI current backup so I’m not starting with a fresh phone, fresh gallery etc. ??
Does it steal data and send it back to Chinese servers though?
Yes. Once the setup is done it will go back to the home page and the ok google won’t work
How do updates work on .EU ROM do you get otas or do you always have to check XDA?
Search Migrate app over at xda.
thnx for ur answer but i try lot of rom chinise or eu or india or global, in mi flash the messege say, my phone is lock flash field
Nice, i want to try this rom but didn’t wanted to lose that feature.
Holy shit that’s a thing??
That’s it i’m staying on xiaomi
I always use weekly I think battery life was awful on every version I used. I might give it another try
I had this problem with ok google too. Changed the assistant language to English US (mine was English UK). Since then it works no problem.
Check if your extracted folder has space or not, remove the space and try again, otherwise follow this method https://youtu.be/JKShaUdpvQw
It will work for sure, just you have to download the EXACT FASTBOOT PACKAGE FOR YOUR PHONE, don’t download any other packages, it will brick your phone. If your phone is global flash the global one or if your phone is Indian variant flash the Indian one
thnx sir for all ur answer i repete to explaine u my situation my bootlaoder is lock, my phone has COME in chinise box with this serial “M1901F7E” SO I DOWNLAOD latest CHINISE ROM lavender\_images\_V10.3.2.0.PFGCNXM\_9.0\_cn , in mi flash the messege say, my phone is lock flash field
Maybe.
Yes. It still syncs to Mi Cloud.
Well, I see no drawbacks, other than the small risk of screwing up the flashing process.
It’s not a hype. It’s a feature available on stock Android. Good to have it as an option.
You can use Mi Move and sync Mi Cloud. That’s what I did.
I have that on my other phone. I still prefer MIUI which I find more intuitive.
No. Once you unlock the bootloader, warranty is void.
Better than MIUI Global.
Yes. Google Play is installed on default.
Yes. Second space too. It’s the same MIUI, just better.
If you follow the instructions 100%, chances of bricking it is low.
As far as I know, Freedom OS is not maintained since 2017. Amirite?
It’s the same MIUI, only better.
Xiaomi.eu ROM can run Google Pay without Magisk.
Well stock Android doesn’t have an option to disable the app drawer. But either way, people are making it a huge deal when it’s really nit important at all
I installed it on my redmi note 5 last sunday, it’s a simple process really, but keep in mind that youd phone will be wiped when installing twrp.
Also when you’ew about to flash the eu rom (or whatever else), make sure to wipe first the system image from the previous system, i didn’t do this at first and just flashed the eu image over the original image, and i was having a problem where the playstore couldn’t launch no matter what, so i just ended up wiping every partion and making a fresh flash, that did the trick.
No problem, I just wanted to help. You must had to unlock bootloader before flashing, otherwise it should have never happened. Anyways have a nice day
