Hard to describe but when you scroll, e.g. webpages, all phones behave differently, even Android phones among each other. You feel the difference when scrolling and stopping and scrolling again back and forth very fast. My observations:
– Xiaomi (edit: all MIUI-based Xiaomis from the last 2-3 years) are ultra responsive, high max speed, fast acceleration, respond instantly again after stopping => you can scroll extremely fast and precise through huge pages without many swipes, it’s the perfect scrolling configuration on os level and even on Xiaomi low-end 150$-phones (not as smooth but still ultra responsive); shows that Xiaomi’s engineers are not the worst
– iOS, (edit: latest gen/13 pro): just lol, very low max speed, smooth but sluggish: can’t keep up after stopping and scrolling again quickly, needs another or multiple swipes to scroll again fast, no grip: feels like skating on ice but without skates haha; i don’t think this is a hardware limitation but how the iOS team configured scrolling, “not too fast we could overwhelm our dumb users” lol
– Motorola (edit: latest edge devices): similar to iOS with a bit higher max speed
– Edit: Realme GT 2 Pro: while scrolling is responsive, max scroll speed and acceleration is noticeably slower than on Xiaomi phones, still better than on ios; and lower tiers feel different (not so with Xiaomi lower tiers)
– Edit: S22 OneUI: comes close to Xiaomi re max scroll speed and overall behaviour, still not consistent over all oneUI phones, especially their lower tiers, idk why
didn’t test more devices
edit: fwiw,
# __it’s not about how smooth the scrolling is!__
(the refresh rate), this is a different topic
edit2: couldn’t test oneplus yet, one guy in the threads says it’s as great; need to check out but would somehow expect to be similar to realme os since it’s the same corp which wanted to merge dev over all brands for some time
edit3: my main phone is an iphone (latest gen), and no i am not a xiaomi fanboi
Do you know how to undo ‘natural scrolling’ when Bluetoothing a trackpad to MIUI?
Guys I have a Redmi 9c ,cheap and working phone.has 2 years and no hick ups.
Photos meh(low light).
No play games just regular stuff, emails, Whatsapp,Google news .
To bad that have only band 2 and 4 for Tmo mvno’s.
Works on hello mobile.
PS .love de MIUI.
That’s the lag, not the scrolling behaviour
I agree they have some good features like long updates, but I got apple music, for a short while, what a nightmare apple id is!! I mean everything else on the service was as per other music streaming services but couldn’t log on multiple devices? Couldn’t find much support either. The end user security and guides are really difficult I think they do this deliberately so less technical users are scared to change to android which they think is more complex.
It doesnt matter rn because you already compared the others brand s who has the same display touch brand
Keep those jokes for urself kid
I didn’t know either. I first noticed when I was fooling around with my Redmi Note 8 Pro. That version of Game Turbo refused to even tell you what each icon does, I just clicked on every single thing until I stumble upon it
On my POCO F3, they explicitly mention “turn off display”
Oh I had no idea. That’s very interesting. See this is the problem with xiaomi. They have legitimate features that are hidden behind tons of garbage.
Game Turbo has a function to turn off the display while still processing the game. It’s essential for stupid games like Arknights which rely on wasting your battery
I still have no idea what miui optimization does other than ensure that ui scaling works properly. Game turbo is actual hot garbage though. Other than being able to access socials while in game the actual “turbo” part is complete malarkey.
I actually like MIUI the interface, and the Game Turbo. “MIUI Optimization” is hot garbage tho
Agree with OP.
Realme, one plus, pixel, nokia, motorola oppo, maybe, they are part of the google one, and that s the most cleanest android you re gonna see, miui is full of blotware, you dont believe me? Search urself
As just like i said, there s no such a thing as the scroll speed= multitouch sample rate being faster on a phone as long as it has the same display, that samsungs makes the only things that can affect thjs is the optimisations, the display itself, when i say optimisations i talk about the apps s itselfs and the android too, and thb? The miui isnt that great, there s alot of ppl who are thankfull but manng ppl who hates it, xiaomi released miui 13 , android 12, and they didnt even changed a sht.. Only the numbers..
You keep talkin bout max speed scroll, like wtf that suppose to mean? I corrected you that that s called touch simple rate, the fact that You thing its laggy because of miui, its not even half true, it can be based on touch quality, android/miui optimisation wich Android LAcks! Except pixel, one plus you hate it
So ure sayin Android is better than Ios?
Actually it does
Its a difference between the fact that you might Not like it and at generaly speaking that they software isnt well optimised, i preffer optimisation over any aethetics customisation abd blotwarez if i would have money, i would already have an pixel or an iphone, dont downgrade the others phones just because you dont like it, the personal experience its different for any of us
Imagine someone having a different opinion than you 🙄
Enjoy the “blootware-free” phone lol
Discussion is over.
The software? Does the Xiaomi brainwashed you or w how much Xiaomi paid you? The Stock Android from Pixel, and from any phone that is on Google go program its the most cleaned and less blootware you are gonna see on a smartphone, thats what it makes it snappy, you are like a guy who complains about the fact that you cant customize ur Ios same as u can on Android, inform yourself better, even the Oneplus its more cleaner
The software, the UI and UX.
[This guy](https://www.brendanmcginley.com/2021/12/03/android-12s-material-you-is-terrible-you-know-it/) sums it all up nicely, .. cow?
That s not a rule, lol, bout havin havin high refresh rate= higher responsive touch” its about how good its telhe Android and the App optimised, also can be the touchscreen fabrication problem, thats another detail to take in consideration
Then shouldnt bother, isnt like you are navigate/scrolling on both of them, you are using one phone, also the term are you using is responsive touch
Better than ios, are you talk about iphone?
Hold on cowboy whats wrong w the Pixels phones?
So i shouldnt buy the xiaomi 12x?
The Redmi Note 10 Pro has the best battery of any phone I’ve had. The phone is a fantasy.
Yeah I forgot to mention about touch sampling rate. A combination of both does make it the best experience. Usually phones with high refresh rate are also coupled with high touch sampling rate especially the Flagships and Flagship Killer phones
That’s the power of high refresh rate. 120Hz phones will run around 60Hz phones anyday when it comes to scrolling.
Twitter breaks their scrolling often. Just gotta wait for them to update the app for it to become smooth again and then hope they don’t break it again (but they sadly will)
I’d rather have a smooth scrolling than fast but janky and stuttery any day.
I feel like Twitter is running good randomly. I’ve read threads on how Pixel devices run Twitter super smoothly as well, while replies say otherwise. Same for Samsung OneUI.
To me, it’s bizarre how such a huge platform can’t make an app that works well on me majority of devices. Twitter lite works great however. It’s just a web app.
Its more the xiaomi community then reddit itself. This comment for example will be downvoted because I legitimately like miui. Not the ad filled garbage, although that didn’t bother me too much on my new Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, but the actual os itself. Used to be miui had a lot of features ootb that never existed in stock Android. But nowadays it has become more of a chore to deal with.
What’s your definition of “few” if 4 is more than few? Also from my experience aosp tends to be noticeably smoother than miui on same devices.
yeah i also think that ColorOS is better than Miui in that regard
ios is just jelly-ier and relaxed
I agree to some extent. I noticed on my friends I phone 12 mini that it scrolls (at least) on newspaper articles really rough, like its a bit of an e-reader style when the whole line seems to move down, like scrolling on an old desktop publishing program?
We have the same on OP, its just called differently and works a bit differently. First of course you can set up multiple user accounts and get your seperation this way.Or you use work life mode, that doesnt end up giving you a seperate partition, but enables you to to seperate your freetime apps from your work related ones (including their notifications etc.). You can also set it to trigger at a certain time, or when you connect to a certain wifi.I like that, its not as fiddly.
Oh and btw, just because Ive read it down below: Twitter also scrolls lag free 😛
Idk, i dont feel the lag, and i started with high refresh rate because once you tried 120, 60 overall is laggy
I’m on realme ui 3.0 and it’s smooth to my surprise.
Just for clarity : i really don’t care about brands, i have had Xiaomi, Samsung, and some exotic Chinese stuff such as e-horse.
I dont know how to explain it better, sorry. Its just perfect IMO. For example when you reach the end of a list like in the vid above the Z axis motor makes a slight \*phunk\*. Or when you set an alarm with a scroll wheel on screen, when scrolling through the numbers it gives you a slight \*tick\* in your hand when you reach a new number.
Naaah they arent overpriced, the NORD line gets you really good bang for your buck. Nord 2 costs about 300 now, same OS, same haptic feedback motor as in the expensive 9 Pro. Dont be put off by what people rage about.I have a 9 Pro with OOS12 next to me on the desk, its one of the best phones Ive owned, and Ive owned quite a few. Last year I sold my IPhone 11 Pro Max and “downgraded” (big quotes) to a Nord 2 which had just been released, I was VERY VERY suprised about the hard- and software quality.
To me it seems their perception in the “enthusiast” market suffered way more than the \*actual\* quality itself. Sometimes I think Im the only one enjoying what theyre doing and that includes NOT giving us what people call stock Android. In its current form an with the UX Google imagined, Id never buy a Pixel or anything else with stock. Material You is highly off-putting for me and I really enjoy the plethora of customization options that OOS is giving me.
The transitions, blur, speediness, lag-freeness are second to none. Ive owned IPhones, Xiaomis, Samsungs, hell even Blackberrys back in the day and never have I seen such a **consistently** fluid interface. Like, you know when you do the same action 5 times and 4 times its fluid, but the 5th time stutters for no reason? Happened to me on Samsung a lot .. never on Oneplus, not on the Nord Ive owned, not on the 9 Pro I have now.
TLDR I dont know what tf the so called community is raging on about. Seems to me its more due to idealism and “thEy BetRaYeD mE!” than anything else. Id even be fine with pure ColorOS, its one of the best Android skins.
Better than MiUI for sure lol
Wait, Twitter is shutter free on realmeOS?
Op was downvoted for praise xiaomi phones in xiaomi topic 🔥🔥🔥. Keep it up reddit community!
ED 1: it’s changed (when I wrote it he has -4 to -1 karma on each comment)
I’ve got a gt neo 2. Everything up from there will be fine as well
My mi A2 often just freeze mid scroll
Need to open app switcher for a while, then back to chrome to solve this issue
I dont know witch iphone you used but for me it isnt laggy, slow yes, it goes really fast if you scroll enough on a long page, i havent used xiaomi devices in a long time, but i agree that its faster. My oneplus scroll is more responsive and faster, but i wouldnt lol at iphone. Maybe you are comparing 120hz xiaomi to 60hz iphone, than i can understand why it feels laggy to you
yup, op can just compare an iphone 5 a cheap motorola and a mi 12 ultra lmao
You need to specify which Xiaomi device
Otherwise what you said is just plain false
Ios is quite fast if you scroll enough on a long page
High acceleration, no stutter, good overscroll effect (didn’t copy A12s one). Good overscrolling makes me “play” with lists and menus sometimes, subjectively it’s essential to good scrolling.
That’s how it looks like:
It’s double as smooth in realty, since the screen recorder only does 60fps but the screen is 120 Hz.
Since scrolling on OP phones is also paired with haptic feedback, it gives the impression of “woosh-ing” through everything scrollable.
Same on the realme and as an extra bonus, even Twitter is stutter free
OnePlus is doing it better i think
