Thats a confident no
But if they manage to pull some strings and do that well im going to be impressed
Oh true, I forgot that detail
Es explorer is my go to
Weird, but I hope it’s going to work with macOS
Yes but that’s not available in China.
Same parent company. Doesn’t mean it’s all the same. They don’t have the same software team and management and don’t even run the same android fork, so it’s not necessarily that Oxygen OS would get it
Yes they are same but different sub brand
Would be even better if Google would offer this feature on Android, then again it would probably be blocked by some Chinese companies.
There’s always Mi Drop (now called “Share Mi” or whatever…). Works flawlessly!
basically, except huawei, all others can collaborate… huaiwei, like samsung and apple, doesn’t like sharing…
Quite call. One thing, I see that Files Go from Google offers something similar already right?
I would assume so as well considering how both VIVO and OPPO are primarily sold in China but I could see this being included in the EU rom for MIUI since it’s based on the Chinese rom but I don’t see myself ever using it considering how I never once used Airdrop when I used iPhones.
Yes. But why don’t people use it? Because google doesn’t integrate and advertise the feature for the average joe to know it’s there. As for Xiaomi, there’s not a lot of people using it to be useful.
Here’s the thing, if you want it to be used as much as airdrop, you have to make it on every or most phone that people use
I heard google is also about to bring a file transfer app..if it comes..it will unite all of the Android..not just Xiaomi oppo vivo and oneplus
Android Beam.
Yes they are and it would be a good idea for them to include OnePlus, I didn’t see any specific mention of them.
Huawei has their own thing. Would be good if all the Chinese companies could get together on this.
If it’s slower than AirDrop, that’s an aspect of inferiority.
If you read the article you will see that Google is working on offering this feature as part of Google Play Services, which is blocked in China, and that is why these three Chinese companies are working on their own solution.
Yes. For finding devices airdrop uses bluetooth (lower power required) and for transferring uses wifi (high speed). This is taking the best feature of both tech and use it to transfer files seamlessly
I think this feature will be exclusive to China for some time, seeing as they announced it on WeChat. And Oneplus isn’t that popular over there
Is anyone even using file sharing app? Share it or mi drop or any!?
Probably the best they can do is incorporate it in google extension.
Don’t hope too much. Phones companies tend to not do that. Just look at mi drop, it doesn’t have pc support
Wow!
Mi drop yes but not a lot of people use it. The thing is, if the app isn’t installed as a first party then the average joe won’t bother downloading it to use it. That’s why airdrop is so popular. Because everyone has it and it simply works.
Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi are the Nr. 2, 3 and 4 on the Chinese market respectively.
With the things Huawei is going through they see a opportunity.
And tradionally all these companies had their own proprietary tech so this is actually a huge step.
My friend uses airdrop. It is the only way they can easily transfer uncompressed photos whereas android have other (inferior) option such as bluetooth or installing third party app
Google would probably just create this feature, then 2 years later rename it, then a year later drop it entirely. Just like their messaging apps.
I use mi drop all the time, basically never connect my phone to my pc.
Yes, they’re brands owned by BBK Electronics.
