GOSH FUCKING DAMN.
Very pretty, but unless some software tweaks were made I think it will be an inconvenient device to use due to the amount of false touch signals the side of your fingers will make on the screen. Does anyone know if any software optimizations were made with that in consideration?

It’s a tiny bit larger than the iPhone 7 plus and much smaller than the Mi Max.
The picture representation is false. There’s actually a 3.5 mm bezel on each side. In China it is customary for all phone companies to mock up their phones as edgeless (or near edgeless) even though when they clearly aren’t in real life. It’s gone to the point where its the norm.
See these videos for the real thing where there’s still some bezel before the end of the glass:
* MKBHD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7plA1ALkQw
* https://youtu.be/tgXjklyo5Is?t=24s
**Then compare those real life videos to these bullshit bezel-less Mi Mix promo pics where they reduced the bezel by about 3 mm on each side so its edge to edge to the glass:**

Remember the Huawei Mate 7 and 8 ads? In China the screen was edgeless. In real life there’s a big black border around the screen. Can’t do that in the USA without getting sued eventually.
Daddy like… Come to daddy.
Will this be able to use 4g lte in U.S?
I honestly don’t need this much horsepower in my device but the design and price is incredible.
That’s still not a lot.. my Mi4i’s bezels are quite bigger and I still accidentally trigger the touchscreen if I’m holding the phone with one hand. I guess that might be less of an issue with the Mi Mix since it can’t be held with just one hand but I feel that’s an area of smartphones and tablets where hardly any company has come up with a good solution.
One of the reasons I happen to prefer iPads to the alternatives is, ironically, the thicker bezels, which help diminish accidental touch.
Are there any comparison between iPhone 7+ and Mi MIX regarding its size? If this is the same size as the iPhone 7+, then I’m sold.
>What is a reseller
Well, slightly smaller than the Mi Max. Anyway my coworker has a Mi Max and it’s really comfortable to hold, though you really need 2 hands to use it I think. She claims she can use it with one hand, but I’m suspicious.
> comfortable to hold, though you really need 2 hands to use it I think. She claims she can use it
It has a one handed mode. But yes its definitely two handed.
I have never had a problem with my Mi Max with the bezels and it’s the same anyway. Never had an accidental touch issue. One simply doesn’t hold their phone the same way they do their tablets, even if its a two handed or one handed or 1.5-hand “bastard” phone.
Use the shortcut ball and a sidebar app, use keyboard one handed mode. I never had to stretch with my phone, even for that stupid recent menu button (or back button for stock).
To each his own. For me, because its designed by Philippe Stark and I like having one device with a huge battery (better than carrying my Kindle also) makes this a winner.
It’s like 3mm-+
Wait, it’s a concept? Or isn’t it? If not, shut up and take my money!
That’s nice! My other question is, does it have a headphone jack(serious)? Aside from supported bands, I’m not sure what is the disadvantage of this against the Mi Note 2.
sooo… 3499yuan for 4gb and 128gb, but it’s a concept so is it going to hit the shelves anytime soon, if ever? i am quite interested since it also has a 4400mah battery.
the website said start selling mi mix november 4th. dont think its a concept.
It looks that way. They have support for “international bands” so hopefully.
PLEASE watch the darn hands on video. The bezel is far thicker. It’s clear that the bezel is not 1mm thick or in the header photo at the Xiaomi site as being almost non-existent. It’s far thicker even than these demo photos you’ve shown. ZTE and Huawei do these with the commercials here in Asia all the time. But what do I know, I actually live here.
Seriously. These phones look amazing but I can’t get any of them on T-Mobile in the US. So lame.
Yep this has everything I want
A case would prevent this and protect the phone
No global bands I believe as posted in the /r/android thread. Now I’m sad 🙁
Hugo Barra just explained that it’s a conceptual phone that they’re making available to the Chinese from next week. basically the word “concept” was thrown in just to sound like they’re showing something the world hasn’t seen before, but actually exists now. #marketing
Same here. Whatever Xiaomi did with the Mi Max, they did it right. With my old 5.5″ phone, I was constantly activating the touch screen just holding the phone which pissed me off to no end. With my Mix Max, it just doesn’t happen. It was like a night and day difference.
This phone looks sexy as hell and I can’t wait to hear the feedback on it. If it really is close to the size of an iphone7, they’re onto something big. For those who like large screens, 6.4″ is really great to use. I love my Mi Max and could never dream of going back to a ‘tiny’ 5.5″ screen. Even with the Mi Max’s bezels, it doesn’t feel too big to hold or use. It’s hard to believe that they can shrink the form factor for a 6.4″ even further. The Mix makes a lot of sense for Xiaomi as big phones are a lot more popular in that part of the world, compared to the west. With the Max filling the mid range category, it’s a logical step to have the Mix fill the big screen flagship slot.
Hopefully they’ll make a smaller one soon that works with them. If I got one of these it would just send up being something I use at home because it’s way too big for me to carry around.
it’s well balanced, so you can manipulate your hand to stabilize the phone and work your fingers/thumb to where they need to be for one handed use in a pinch. the big screen size allows me to hold the phone at a much more comfortable distance from my face though, which i would not even consider trading for slightly more convenient one handed use.
i’ve had a 4″, 5.5″, and 6.4″ and for me, one handed phone has always been a juggling act.
[Xiaomi’s futuristic smartphone has the highest screen-to-body ratio we’ve ever seen](http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/10/xiaomi-blows-minds-with-the-mi-mix-a-nearly-bezel-less-smartphone/?) – Arstechnica (25 Oct 2016).
Surely it cannot be hard to make a software controlled deadzone around the screen edges, IV always though i f they did a full screen faced phone they would use a system like that.
Dammit, I’d want that just to hold and stare at.
Apparently it is, because no one’s done it.
I want it but I will never have it.
I still do it once in a while, but not a lot, admittedly.
Dang, I need one..
If only it had B20 band, which is kinda mandatory for the rural areas over here.. still tempted to place an order, the other bands are supported..
Sorry mate but the bezels on that second pic are complete bullshit 😛
Good solution: Shrink size down (think zoom percentage) temporarily (rather than the pull down effect seen on iPhones) for one handed operation?
Their logo is a terrible idea. Who would brand their website as “Ars”
Pirates? lol
They photoshopped out the bezels so the screen ends where the edge begins tapering around the corner. That’s bezel-less. In real life there’s a black area before where the glass ends and connects to the sides. That’s what we mean by edgeless or bezel-less.
Look at the Mi Max ads. No edges but in real life there’s a 2mm black border.
A good solution, in my opinion, would be to detect continuous presses on the edges of the screen, at any edge, that aren’t moving, and ignore them.
Right? Compare that to the MKBHD video and it’s clear there’s a discrepancy.
As beeing a concept phone, all specs should have been top notch, but seems like the camera sensor is not. There is a quick camera review on YouTube: https://youtu.be/3kMz4lpxuxY
IMX 378 and I would preorder immediately.
I’m tempted as well. Is only two bands enough for 4G though?
