Charge every day? That doesn’t sound like fun
That’s how every smartwatch is today
Need to wait for global version then.
If it goes down to $100…I might consider it.
Would be possible to install wear OS vanilla?
The amazfit gts looks way better than this
For 185$ having to charge it daily… Just no.
All the WearOS smartwaches with the same Qualcomm soc have that battery life.
We need to wait for the newer chips for better battery life.
It’s not like Apple watch which is 400$ and you have to charge it daily..
Lucky it’s a Xiaomi then
Yup agree
My amazfit bip begs to differ …
If it would charge via qi it wouldn’t be so bad
Because it’s not smartwatch, it doesn’t run a “proper” OS like this mi watch
This mi watch uses Wear OS
Hopefully soon, they have a kernel source repo on GitHub
I just charge my watch for a bit before I go to sleep or while taking a shower. Usually 15-30 minutes is a day worth depending on use so it’s easy getting used to it and not a bother at all.
If you can’t handle a full blown non embedded autonomous computer at the size of a pebble not lasting more than a few days, just wait some more years.
if that happens… this might become the savior of wear os
Not running Wear OS does not disqualify it from being smartwatch.
> amazfit gts
Before the video, I have never heard of it before. Here’s the weblink:
https://en.amazfit.com/gts.html
How long do you think that will be ?
\+1
This mi watch looks like the first apple watch
Its huge on the wrist and looks too bulky…
If you are a fitness nut for sure.
Said he using a Phone that charges daily
Smartwatch, not fitness tracker
Not being able to do smart things does though
Like what? Notifications? Calls? Controlling my smart home devices? GPS? Alarm? Heart rate tracking? Weather? Xiaomi amazfit bip can do all of that.
If they would provide a charging stand like the Samsung watch I see no problem in that.
How would you store your watch at night?
Is there any **actual smartwatch** that doesn’t need daily charge?
No amazfit watch is an actual smartwatch…
Xoimoy fake.
There’s still a video to be made about Amazfit GTS or Xiaomi Mi watch where someone presents in-depth on how watchfaces look, and what complications do they have. That tiny and insignificant thing that we look at 50 times a day.
Would you be so kind and show us the watchfaces capabilities? As I’ve browsed hundreds of videos on those two watches, and none seems to give it more than 5 seconds.
I’m perticulary interested if they added sunrise/sunset and moon phase complication.
Mi band 4 has amazing battery
lol. how are people such cheapskates. it’s packed and spec wise a great watch, 3x times cheaper than comparable Garmin, 2x times cheaper than Apple and one day after release this subreddit’s response? “i hope the price drops soon”
smh you guys broke for real.
umm.. no, aesthetics and looks wise alone amazfit gts looks soooo much better. Not to mention 14 days battery.
Exactly
… I guess you missed the **bold**
A fitness tracker isn’t a smartwatch.
This is r/xiaomi. Of course we’re cheapskates.
Did you miss Mi Note 10 release? We’re high-medium range tech fans now.
It’s smart enough for me ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
What do you need in a smart watch?
Seems not 🙁 Hard to know what can be done with such tiny batteries, unless someone comes up with a really radical solution (eg making a battery out of the strap!)
Having said all that …… I’m still tempted 🙂
I can see the appeal of running Android apps on a watch. If/when a smart watch with Android onboard will come out with about a week of battery life and a good price, I will buy it. For now, if not using LTE battery is still on the couple of days range, then still not good enough.
How do you control smarthome devices with your bip?
I don’t have a problem in these 1 day watches existing. I’m sure it doesn’t make a difference to a lot of people.
To me it does because if I have to charge it every day it will most probably be at night and that will mean I won’t have sleep logging etc. If I charge it during the day I’m not using it (for a while).
Maybe I could charge it during some time I’m more stationary since I wouldn’t need it as much but to me the perfect smartwatch would probably need a week or close to a week of battery.
With app tools for amazfit. Using button press events I send commands to tasker and tasker calls my home assistant instance via rest api.
Eg. Pressing amazfit button twice toggles my living room lights.
Awesome, it’s been ages since I’ve used tasker, will try it out later, thanks!.
Um, for starters, be an actual smartwatch?
Be able to control my music, get app, message, and call notifications, be able to reply to them, have maps, have payment options, I could go on…
People are saying 2020
Listen to Spotify music and store it locally, start a WhatsApp conversation from the watch, I regularly call an Uber from my watch, I get notifications that include gifs and pictures on my watch, i love changing watch faces regularly, and I get the option of many very detailed watch faces that mimic real watches, Google Assistant commands to my watch with results. You can’t even run two apps at the same time lol. And how easy is it to integrate into strava or other fitness apps? Can I even connect bt headphones to the bit?
I’m glad you like your xiaomi fitness tracker though. It legitimately looks like a great mix between fitness tracker and looking like an apple watch.
Oh yes for sure, but it’s a fitness tracker though. I mean the Galaxy gear watches look way better, so does the Huawei watches, and they compete feature wise against this watch. The amazebit does not.
Can it store and view text files, or view text files from cloud?
While I am a cheapskate myself, I do actually buy Xiaomi stuff cause it’s great tech. Long lasting battery, okay durability, always best bang-for-your-buck value. Watches, scooters, earphones, small tech. Xiaomi is a decent company.
You make a great point. I personally use Xiaomi Amazfit GTR instead. https://en.amazfit.com/gtr.html
it looks compete with Huawei and Galaxy gear. More custom watchfaces, check it out.
As far as I have read, it still doesn’t allow third party apps, and any smart watch features like downloading Spotify music and pairing Bluetooth headphones to the watch right?
correct, then this watch indeed isn’t a good fit for you.
Yea I’m used to smartwatches these days. A fitness band was what got me into it all though.
