If you think they are usless in principle then I think you have very bad imagination. I would agree though that they aren’t good enough quite yet.

Except that you don’t use a phone with your imagination, they have potential but currently are quite useless. He is right.
That’s exactly my point. Everytime they release a new Mix phone, people go “omggg one drop and it’s dead” not gonna buy.
You don’t buy a Mix for toughness, you buy it for the looks. Plus they’re still pretty tough. Haven’t had a single Mix break on me and I’ve had them all.

My Mix 2s got run over by an Uber and I just bought a mounted screen of AliExpress for 50 bucks and boom fixed. Like it was fucked up. The charging port and metal was bent.
On a sealed phone… I’m not paying some 3rd party replacement store to rip open my phone and potentially damage other parts to switch out the battery. It’s not like it’s an easy “pop off the back and put in a new one” situation

Well, my Mi Mix 2 has to disagree with you. Two years old, fallen countless times with and without case. If I wasn’t clumsy as I am, and dropped him in water, he’d still be perfectly usable, because the shell is, apart from a few dents on the corners, as new.
OT. I agree Alpha is a gimicks. Bur it’s a gorgeous gimmick and I’d get one just to have it on a stand and marvel at it if I had money for it.

Oh boy. Xiaomi is a company that makes stuff to earn money. It’s not some ideological company that is going on a crusade against expensive phones.
Whatever a huge company tells you, you can know that a primary goal for every company is money.

Not sure why youre getting downvoted – there is at least some truth to this. Exposed screen is quite obviously more vulnerable to damage than other phones with a case on.

Well, with those that fold into smaller ones, there’s stuff like smaller footprint and less distractions.
And with the others like the Galaxy Fold that turn from a phone into a tablet: having a bigger screen when you need it.
But I think this Mi Mix Alpha is just Xiaomis way of flexing that they can do this stuff too. It is a concept after all.

I really hope they release some info on the Mix 4 soon. I have a Mix 3 and love it although the battery is starting to wane, debating getting a Mi 10 or waiting for the Mix 4 but idk how long I can wait lol
