Mi Pad 1 has its sources released. Mi pad 2 however haven’t been so lucky because of Intel atom chip.
What does this mean for me?
Now wait for the bugs to be discovered…
Redmi Note 3 has *stable* 8.x ROMs with Lollipop sources. It’s definitely possible.
You’re the one trolling. Intel is not the cause of you not getting newer Android versions.
I have mipad2 and it will never receive android 6> because of the Intel chip inside. Go to xda and search for usable roms and read what devs are saying. Please don’t troll. Thanks.
Your claim, your proof. I already know the result though: zero hits
Google it.
Intel doesn’t bar the release of source code, they have no legal standing to block such releases. Stop spreading false information.
Okay, ty for answering
Nope, should be possible to port it to 8.X as other phones with 7.X sources also have 8.X via custom ROM although not as stable as 7.X yet. (eg. Redmi Note 4)
Still waiting for May’s 4x (santoni) 🙁
no, *fanta sea*
In their own time* :’)
Well it’s something at least, custom ROM development can finally start
> But my point still stands, xiaomi release their source codes on time
Lol what?
xiaomi release their source codes ~~on time~~ – GPL dictates 3 months, so on time really isnt the correct way to describe it. But it’s a good thing that they release it nonetheless.
Alright, I stand corrected. But my point still stands, xiaomi release their source codes on time. If you want it immediately then you can go buy OPO or SAMSUNG! lol
But they do release the source! Just a little bit late. Although they never fully released it for Mipad2 because it has Intel Atom chip in it and Intel barred them from releasing the source.
You are missing the point here. You tried to shit on Samsung because of some kernel source discussion, and you failed. Don’t try to justify yourself now. If I thought Samsung was a good company, I wouldn’t buy chinese phones.
Is this why they maxout their battery in 80% when you install custom ROM on it? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/workaround-charge-to-100-snapdragon-root-t3660288 Samsung is shit.
>Xiaomi releases source for all of their devices, no matter how much longer does it takes. Top meme brands like Samsung and Huawei don’t.
I don’t know whether or not Samsung and Huawei have problems with releasing sources for some of their devices (though frankly, I have my doubts about how founded that accusation is), but it doesn’t even matter for the context of this discussion.
If I had a Samsung phone and Samsung was doing this same thing, you bet I’d be mad at Samsung about it for the exact same reasons.
>But people are only focusing and shittalking on this one particular company, why?
Because they’re paying customers, and legitimately pissed that the lack of kernel source actively makes development for this phone basically impossible?
Except that Samsung had their sources released about 5 days after the S8 came out. Do your research instead of trying to start a shitstorm.

Is this real life?
This isn’t a “slap in the face” to anyone, there’s still no legitimate reason for it to have taken this long (and indeed, they were in breach of the GPL until now). Doing something you’re obligated to do under a license you accepted isn’t a “good guy” thing, it’s basic decency.
Have other OEMs had this same problem in the past? God knows they have, but that doesn’t make this acceptable, and I don’t get why you’re so obsessed with defending Xiaomi on this matter.
Is it too dificult to port it to Oreo?
Good guy Xiaomi. A slap in the face of critics.
edit x2 Link fixed: I commented something here telling the twitter guy to challenge other phone manufractures because xiaomi has always released sources for their devices. https://np.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/7qyhs6/alright_ive_had_enough_of_this_i_want_to_work_on/dstgzdu/?utm_content=permalink&utm_medium=front&utm_source=reddit&utm_name=Xiaomi Guess what happened? I was drowned in downvotes.
Best message of the week!
Great news!
Finally. Now we can have amazing custom ROMS!
