**Android One**
Android One is a low cost line of consumer electronics devices that run the Android operating system. It is a hardware and software standard created by Google for Android systems and customers in the developing world, although later on it was made available in limited form in some developed nations as well. Google manages the design, development, marketing, and support of these devices while all manufacturing are carried out by partnering original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Android One smartphones run software close to stock Android, no user interface customisation is possible.

Thanks.
Hmmmm.
It’s quite strange as they’re the same device, and I really want to try both 🙁
I guess “port” in this particular case’ll be easy.
Yes.
Ow lol, so I thought right 😉
So it gets launched in India first and then globally?
Yes, Xiaomi is a Chinese company but they launched this phone globally.
Ah thanks! I thought Xiaomi was a Chinese company 🙂
but it looks like a really good deal! Even better then the one I currently have (M5i).
Are there any sources?
699.00€ in Greece…
I wonder how many have they sold with such an inflated price.
ahhhhhh… Sorry, thought i read that resizing was the compression in your comment…
But anyway: Nexus phones don’t get the original quality upload. It’s a Pixel only thing.
I wonder how hard this is going to be to import to the US.
Xiaomi + Stock android + assured latest android Version update from Google = The perfect smartphone
Does the Mi A1 have manual camera controls ? 30 second exposure?
Since it is runs Nougat out of the box, don’t expect Android Q.
Most of the budget devices doesn’t perform well at low light.
You could see in the google photos overview that there was a portrait icon. Haven’t seen that before.
It is always compressed with Google’s codec (webp), no matter the redolution.
Besides that 5 inch would be better (this is personal) and the battery (really xiaomi?), it is really a good phone, and plus, from xiaomi without miui.
Everyone gets that… They said unlimited in high quality, which is free. Original quality costs you… It’s shitty marketing on xiaomi and Google’s part
It is.
I assumed xiaomi’s business model is to deploy a market place for apps and services. Are they backing out? Are they being paid by Google?
What’s happening on the business end?
We have an authorized Xiaomi reseller here in Poland and they too jack up the prices.
I wanted the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 128 GB version:
AliExpress price: approximately 377.81 Euro.
Xiaomi reseller price in Warsaw: approximately 637.55 Euro.
There probably will be a Global version like most of their popular phones (or so I hope!). Keeping my fingers crossed for this.
I wonder how much the local Xiaomi store in Warsaw, Poland is going to charge for one of these babies.
Higher, but considering shipping costs and timing it might get balanced out for some.
What are the prices vs aliexpress?
Mexican availability of Xiaomi goods is limited to a few Redmi models and only distributed by two online retailers.
Oh, didn’t know it didn’t have this. Hopefully the “A2” does because I’d like to get it. No buy for me without it.
Nice Little piece of kit that
Not just cities, in the UK at least you need Band 20 for VoLTE.
Che y son oficiales o un representante que tiene la franquicia?
Los precios medio altos, el A1 seguro lo van a poner a 350 verdes
You are right. But, If it supports fast charging, why they haven’t shown it in the launch event?
That’s more or less the case here in Greece.
There is an authorized Xiaomi reseller that set the prices higher than expected.
For example: Redmi Note 4 Global edition 4/64 GB (Snapdragon)
Hongkong Goldway: 181,65€ incl. shipping
Xiaomi-Greece: 259€
Doesn’t mean it doesn’t have fast charging if it comes with no fast charger.
Idiota. Battery.
Will buy if LTE definitely works on my carrier in Canada; sometimes the band support info isn’t always 100% right until it’s actually out.
Nope but didn’t know xiaomi was in those other latam countries either
234 murrican dollarydoos, TBH the lack of B4aws kills it for me
Guess I’ll wait for the RN5 then get lineage for it
Sad :(. But did you already had any other xiaomi mobiles available?
>not Argentina
🙁
No band 4? fuck…
Sorry, I don’t have any information for your country.
[List of countries where its going to be available](http://cdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/17/09/xiaomi-mi-a1-ofic/-728/gsmarena_002.jpg)
Yeah yeah yeah, but what I’m saying is Q is tough
In India, It will be available to buy on Flipkart, Mi offline and online stores on 12 September. I don’t know about other regions. Tell me where do you live. I will try to find it for you.
Popsicle is amazing too.
Okay.
Thanks.
I have to import it from china, also it doesn’t mean I don’t want Pure Android.
Well if I want to buy the “actual” Mi 5x then I must Import it!
Also I’m just greedy and want to try everything.
Pancake
I wanted infinity edge display too, Like LG Q6.
In China, even though this phone isn’t going to be available here. Mobile payments are done using QR codes generally, not NFC.
In India, It’s not.
yes, its dream come true.
Nope. But it has a USB C port and 5V 2A charging adapter. May be they ditched fast charging for cost cutting.
If you like MIUI a lot then why don’t you go for 5X?
Google camera app doesn’t support dual cameras and portrait mode yet. That is why they have used MIUI camera app.
If Xiaomi decided to pop a store in Scandinavia, it wouldn’t be Xiaomi’s native Chinese prices. It would be just about the same as phones generally cost here. So you wouldn’t save anything by avoiding expensive shipping if that’s what you meant. You would lose. Local repair would a benefit, true.
That’s a test model sent to media sites and youtube channels before the official launch. Wait for the review of retail variant.
No but they tweeted the places where the phone will be available. https://twitter.com/xiaomi/status/904994476434657285
Yes, its indian currency. It will be available on 12 September in India. I don’t know about all regions.
The whole point of the Android One project is providing certain markets with relatively cheap stock Android phones, isn’t it? Why would you flash MIUI on a Mi 5X clone instead of buying the *actual* Mi 5X?
for cost cutting and majority of users doesn’t care about NFC.
I have used ios app for replies, may be the ios reddit app is broke.
LTE Band 20 is quite spread for the operators when they have few antennas (or any) working in lower bands in 2G and 3G, like 900 MHz. Even close to the cities, they prefer to deploy some LTE Band 20 stations because of better building penetration. The issue of this band is the low user capacity, but at least the users are under coverage.
[There actually is Band 20](https://i.imgur.com/mfPGB4h.png), but it can vary from region to region
Here for more information: http://www.mi.com/en/mi-a1/specs/ (Look under connectivity and expand the “see network bands” )
It must have been deleted and re-uploaded because that’s where my first link pointed to when I posted it! But yes, that was the tweet
The first link is wrong. You probably meant this:
Nexus 6P, OP3, OP5, iPhone since iPhone 6 etc. All have NFC.
It’s done for cost cutting & very less people use it in the market it is aimed at.
Cost cutting imo. I don’t see a technical reason why they couldn’t do it.
Do Xiaomi write anywhere where they plan to expand to? Wonder if they will pop up a store in Denmark anytime soon (So I can get my stuff repaired if I buy anything without expensive shipping)
Because it’s a metal device I think
Who are you even replying to?
P erm Poptart, PB&J, peppermint?, Q, that’s though
So this Indian currency?? And when will it be available?
Mode|Band
:–|:—
GSM|B2, B3, B5, B8
UMTS|B1, B2, B5, B8
FDD-LTE|B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, **B20**
TDD-LTE|B38, B40
*Bands vary by region. Please check band availability for your specific device.

I just bought a rn4x
(⑉꒦ິ\^꒦ິ⑉)

Xiaomi phone without MiUi. Finally dream comming true.
UI lag – https://hooktube.com/watch?v=V9NwqV29ghE
Camera lag – https://hooktube.com/watch?v=8yO17c2TPsI
I’ve seen some videos of it and it seems laggy for stock android.
Ah. That’s a shame 🙁
“Nobody” is a bit of an overstatement lol. Most users, including me, don’t really care for the bit of compression.
Unfortunately that’s not the case here in Greece.
Band 20 is extensively used by the carriers even in Athens.
Good news finally.
LTE support is fairly good in European cities with just bands 3 and 7, and they may figure that the majority who would buy the phone live in the cities, though. But as you said, let’s wait and see.
So I can Flash MiUi of the MI 5X without any problems right?
I kind of hope that they include the option of Installing MIUI in-system but meh, they probably won’t do that and we’ll have to flash MIUI of the MI 5x Manually -.-
Why no NFC though.
I really fucking hope there will be a global version of this. If not imo they pretty much fucked up their biggest opportunity the hit the global market.
stock android that’s guaranteed to get at least 2 years of updates (think android p and quite possibly q).
a budget pixel is what it is.
The china version is strictly a Mi5X.
I was wondering the same thing, but let’s wait and see.
Maybe the link only lists the bands which are important for India.
Since Greece is officially listed, I guess that band 20 will be supported too.
I think there would be a China version and a Global one. So the global one probably will have more 4g bands.
I don’t understand why Xiaomi launchs a mobile for the global market specifically but they don’t put all bands.
Does the A1 have fast charging?
Yes. Photos and videos will be compressed if they are above certain size, but its still unlimited. In case of this phone, only the videos will be compressed if recorded above 1080p, photos will not be.
But but, you can already upload unlimited photos and videos to google photos with any smartphone :O
Google Photo offers unlimited storage for photos and videos for everyone, not just this phone.
This is literally everything I want from a smartphone this year.
So sad!
The site is saying no band 20
Update: You can check the specs here. http://mobile.mi.com/in/mi-a1/#specs
Yes, you should. Its amazing. 😉
If it has band 800, I’ll buy it!
I’ll just pick this up when it available with no hesitation. The unlimited photo and video upload to google photo is a no brainer
Yes, its 5x with pure android and It will be available in more regions than the 5x. They copied iPhone 7 Plus when it comes to camera technology but its way cheaper, which is great for budget buyers.
So it’s a 5X with stock ROM, right? Interesting, but I surprisingly prefer MIUI. But I hope this version will be more available worldwide, so more people will know about Xiaomi.
Edit: a couple of tweets regarding worldwide availability https://twitter.com/xiaomi/status/904974669010264066
and lol, shamelessly copying the iPhone 7 Plus https://twitter.com/xiaomi/status/904963257038815233
More tweets about it, but it really is a 5X with stock Android
Yes, It is.
Moto G5s Plus killer !
