Just like Oreo did. I’m looking forward to buying an A2, do you think it will get Android R as well? 😛
“Companies like Xiaomi would not waste their time on older products…”. Yeah, and that’s why Redmi 3S still got MIUI 10 lmao.
And as I’ve seen, it is supposed to arrive on August.
You don’t have to assume anything, checkout the links, everything I said is on the sites, official.
2 years = 2 major OS updates is something you’re making up entirely, it’s not mentioned anywhere officially, that’s why i gave the pixel 3a example where Google says minimum support till May ’22, exact 36 months.
Google and Xiaomi can’t just back down from a written, clearly mentioned promise, they’re legally bounded.
Motorola tried to do that with Moto G4 Plus’ Oreo update but when it was called out for not keeping its promise by people, Moto finally caved and provided 8.1 for the G4 Plus even though it was a waste of time for them. https://www.xda-developers.com/motorola-android-oreo-moto-g4-plus/
2 years = 2 major OS updates. Companies like Xiaomi would not waste their time on older products. Even Assuming what you told is true, going by Xiaomi’s track record of Android Upgrades (3 months for 8.0 and 9.0), Xiaomi wouldn’t release 10.0. Better buy the Mi A3
Multiple corrections, you are mistaken.
Google promised 2 years updates for Android Ones when A1 was launched, it was mentioned on the Android One website, Xiaomi promised 2 years updates for A1, it’s still on the website- https://mobile.mi.com/in/mi-a1/#android-one
Here google is promising only for its 3a. Xiaomi hasn’t promised that. Moreover its not under an obligation to provide anymore major updates..
2 years = 24 months
September 2017 to September 2019
Google promises 3 years updates for the new pixel 3a and om its website it’s clearly mentioned that the 3a will get updates minimum till exactly May 2022. 3 years = 36 months = May 2019 to May 2022

Similarly anything that releases before Sep 19, A1 must get it
2 years feature updates = 2 major Android updates. Already got 8.0, 8.1 and now 9.0 . Unlikely
2 years means upto September this year, so if Q comes before Sep it’ll definitely get it
No, they announced it’ll be supported till minimum 2 years for OS updates, Sep ’17 to Sep ’19
So if Q releases before September ’19, A1 must get it
Oh that’s wonderful….. can’t wait.
Android one, mate
After the the nasty bugs from 8.1 and Pie, I’m not holding my breath on Q. Every major update seems to get pulled and need a few months before it becomes usable.
3 years security updates. 2 years feature updates. So it’s unlikely
This.
This one is totally up to Xiaomi. Only Android One devices are confirmed to get 3 letter upgrades, so since it’s launched on N, it will get O, P ,Q.
Android One devices gets 3 year updates, so Mi A1 will get Q.
Mi A1 is Android one device, Redmi 4 prime is not
And I don’t think they give software updates depending on their sOc and specs
Really fucks me off that they will put Q on it when they launched the Redmi 4 prime with the same SD625 on M and never updated it. It’s the same SoC ffs
I’m already in the Q sGSI and everything is working flawlessly
I don’t think they will update it to Q considering it released with Nougat, and got updated to Oreo and then Pie. That’s 2 Android version updates.
They publish such lists every year. Some 2 year old phones don’t get the update. Don’t expect much
Dammit, I already installed a custom ROM.
Hell yeah, I hope it’s gonna be as they say, Can’t wait!
They announced it would be supported till P.
Please let them be right!
