Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I just ordered myself a Mi 9T and I’m into astrophotography for some years. I’ve been taking milkyway pictures with my Canon 550D with 18.55 kit-lens, just for myself. I’m definitely not a pro or anything.
Well I’m drifting. What I wanted to ask is that if any of you guys took milkyway pictures using Mi 9T? If so, could you please share it with me? I really appreciate it.
Have a nice one everyone!
yes lol, some insane shot. how did you resample to 12mpx the 48mpx pictures ? Photoshop ?
I know, i have also a canon 80d and am really impressed by this 48mpx little pocket camera. I am very curious what the mi note10 with the 108mx can do. The resampling to 12mpx can be insane.
wow that some Impressive pictures, doesn’t know my device can do this lol thanks for sharing
Now it should work
I had to request the access to the pictures, thanks
So like i promised you can see now the full detailed photos.
They are captured in 48mpx and resampled at 12mpx.

Hello, just saw your comment. I checked it out but it’s rated 3.5 stars on Google Play. I’m gonna try to find a stable version for my phone from xda forum. Thank you!
U could download something called “gcamator”, it installs the best version of gcam for ur phone
32s shutter speed, like 1600 iso, I was just playing with the settings. I also tweaked it in the editor, the normal one is not this vibrant
There is no 48mpix “lens”
Thank you so much man, I will do exactly as you said.
As everyone, I suggest that you use gcam mod to take better pictures. But this not apply in all the cases, for example macro or telephoto lens may have problems in most of the ports, so sometimes is better just to go with stock camara in Pro Mode and configure the scene by yourself.
And about the versions of gcam I recommend you to download the app GCamizer, is on play store and makes the installation of gcam much more easier, mods from there work better because are tested by the community so you can trust that they will work correctly on your device.
Also if you go back to the default ROM and flash it with xiaomi’s flash tool I don’t see why they would give you crap about root, though I don’t know if there’s a flash count on your device like the galaxies had back in the day. but if you experience any problem and need to send it back just flash something official and that’s it. Xiaomi encourages you to tinker with your phone anyways
What are the parameters that you used?
I don’t know about that, I bought the phone from aliexpress and I have flashed multiple ROMs, I think the moment you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery your warranty is void. I don’t even take warranty into account when buying a phone on the internet.

this site says that I need android 10+, but my k20’s android version is 9.0. If I upgrade my phone to android 10 version by myself, it goes out of warranty. I don’t really wanna do that. Is there any other way other than to wait?
Yeah I know, I saw many milkyway pictures on facebook taken with rn7. I just wanted to see Mi 9T’s performance upon the subject. I gotta say I’m not disappointed lol
https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/themes/app-googlecam-port-mi-9-pro-t4007273 just found this one but I’m not sure how this one is. In fact I have no idea which one I should download. This one is for K20 Pro/ mi 9t pro. Not sure if there’s difference between pro and the normal version
That’s a stunningly impressive photo!
If you want you can easily. There are many guys who is shooting milkyway and sky with stars beautifully with pro mode in rn7. Obviously it will be possible in mi9T. TBH i am pretty shit at photography.

I suggest going for the one from Parrot
I hope that it suits you, I’ll order one too!
I believe we could get it from XDA forums. I’ll send you the link once I get on my computer
Where’s the best place to get the latest apk for the 9T/Pro?
Thank you! I’ve just ordered it!
I have the k20, I use MIUI 11 by Xiaomi eu 9.11.7 | Beta. There’s probably new xiaomi eu versions but this one works perfectly.
He recommended me this one: https://www.amazon.com/UBeesize-Phone-Tripod-Wireless-Compatible/dp/B07837W5NX/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=phone+tripod&qid=1575816023&sr=8-5
The product description states that it supports iphone x and couple of other phones too. Its universal. Both iPhone and Mi 9T Pro are 190 grams so I guess it could do the job. I’ll check the comments.
Well, I have no knowledge about phone tripods. I’ll ask my friend and let you know
I have this one but the adapter is too small. It worked well on my old galaxy s7 but i think the tripod is too weak to support a heavier phone…

And my friend let me try a similar one she bought on amazon, it was sold for “up to 7,5cm wide phones” but it was still too tight…
I found many universal phone tripods on amazon, do you suggest a specific brand or model?
Got the 9t last week. Love the phone. Gcam is definitely better. I’m using the urnyx v1.5 gcam app
Thank you, I’ll look into it
Are you using 9t non pro model? Which rom? I tried many urnyx versions and everytime i get parsing error while installing
Never done that but the gcam takes some realy nice and superior to stock cam app photos. I am using GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v1.2 and everything works.
There might be a few bugs here and there. The apks are updated frequently to add more functionality and fix the bugs.
GCam hasn’t given me trouble on my Mi9T. It just depends on which version on GCam and by who
Hello. Have you tried universal phone tripods?
Thank you for sharing those pics. Can i ask you what camera tripod or adapter do you use? I tried some cheap tripods given by friends, but my phone doesn’t fit…
Edit: i thank you all for suggesting the camera app.
I’m looking forward for it!
The colors are amazing. I believe by editing the picture with Lightroom would bring details up front. Thank you!
Hi, thank you so much! What I wanted to ask is that is it safe? I mean is there a chance that I could face some problems using the GCam 7?
Guys I can’t thank you enough. I really appreciate all your comments and help. I will check every one of them. I’ll also look into GCam :”)
[I took this recently](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Fg5zyGwZc7Wu7a7uxQ3_kR2brRdwFAEi/view?usp=drivesdk)
With suitable version of Gcam. I think it’s doable
The picture is downloaded from facebook, that’s why the bad quality while zooming. The actual quality is better when zooming, i was really impressed, i shot them in full 48mpx mode and then post processed them in photoshop, the ammount of detail is insane. In 2-3 days i can show you the full resolution pictures.
the pic is beautiful but I’m a little disappointed by the quality when zooming even if it’s at night.
can it be better with gcam I don’t know
Yes, it’s made with the primary camera.
I own 9T pro and all the steps are same none the less. You can go to pro mode with shutter speed 32seconds and ISO 100. Better if you use tripod and let the camera do the work.
50€ pro much better phone ***PRO 64 338,92 €\* \*R***
Sure
it’s the 48mp lens ?
No, it’s just a regular APK
Hi, here is a example in complete darkness. 32sec and iso1600. Sorry i don’t have the full size picture currently on my phone.
[Mi9t night picture example](https://drive.google.com/file/d/13cp_K6sfnt6CGCVnwdJcUiKML5IW___q/view?usp=drivesdk)
I got some, but not like you can see the milky way disc shape clouds, just stars. I’m still fine-tuning the settings, do some experiments, and to set up the right environment for me to be able to do so.
Should the phone be rooted? Like recovery utilities etc?
Same sensor basically when it comes to pictures… But no 4k 60 fps.
visit the xda forums for mi 9t/redmi k20, you’ll find links to gcam ports that work well on your device there
You can install the Pixel 4’s GCam 7 to take some next level astrophotography 😉
But don’t get the normal one from the play store, it’s an old one. Find the gcam modded for your model
Yes, some photos (9/10) and using sky map and others apps (10/10). The 9T is good but the pro is way better just for 50€. Mine is 64gb, 299€ since July
Thank you!
Updoot for visibility. Hope you find what you’re looking for
