Another 3 – 3.5k mAh battery
And ? Battery life on the 3.2k Mix 3 is more than fine.
Not for powerusers
Loving this! Pricing, specs and design are on point! The colors look awesome too. Can’t wait to try one out and maybe buy one too.
Only downsides are the battery and headphone jack. But I’ll live with it rather than paying 1000+ for a flagship from the big guys.
Oh and I’ll take the free wireless charger and powerbank (I think ?). Can’t recall any major manufacturer doing this unless its a preorder bundle or some shit. (maybe no free items)
Yeah! I mean who gives all that for free!
No band 20. Welcome and goodbye
He is right. Official website says no band 20 on Chinese version of the phone.
Isn’t that because this is the China version? Would be surprised if they launched global version without band 20…
edit: actually, where did you even see this? I’ve seen several reports of band 20 included: [https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-mi-9-specs-955504/](https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-mi-9-specs-955504/)
overkill their former flagship in every damn quarter

Why no IP rating?
Will it support 5G?
Probably. I can’t be sure.
No OIS!! I mean come on… I don’t have shaky hands but this is a must. No IP68 which a lot of users find it essential.. Battery capacity is concerning for me, I don’t know if battery will keep up with an intense use… I’m overall disappointed.
Has the phone SD card slot? up to what capacity does it supports??
No access to the link. How about notch and headphone jack?
Well, no headphone jack, like mix 3 and mi8
Notch like leaked image.
Aux?

For example mi8 which had band 20:

But yeah, lets hope that there will be another version, for both mi9 and mi9 se which im more into.
battery is total shit. xiaomi going by LG way. I not will consider for buying any mobile with battery less than 3800-4000mah
no
Amoled screen, 7nm chip, android pie’s excellent battery saving, all contribute to 2 day battery life.
Xiaomi doesn’t focus on battery size, rather on battery life.

Yes
I have been petitioning to xiaomi for the past whole year for brining back IR blasters and they did it. Thanks xiaomi.
this phone not will work 2 days. for 2 days phone you need to look into mate 20 pro with 4200mah.
Wireless charger and power bank are sold separately, but cost ¥99 ($15) and ¥149 ($23).
In China it starts at ¥2999 ($450) for 6GB+128GB, ¥3299 ($491) for 8GB+128GB and ¥3999 ($595) for the transparent version which is 12GB+256GB.
Just wait for POCO f2
No SD card slot
Better screen and NFC then we golden
Thanks for the answer… that makes it a No-No for me. Damn, it’s 2019! Some of us really carry a lot of things on us :p
nfc wont happen
How much storage do you need? More than 128gb?
Edit: 256gb
As much as possible 😀 Games in play store going for 2+ GB, emulating , pair of gigs in books/audiobooks. Add a pair more of gb between pics, videos, whatsapp, social media, google maps…
In the end, I got 200 gb sd + 32 internal and I am always without space.
Do you wanna say that one more time pls
I hope they keep the 3.5mm jack.
Just saying, I’m using the Mi6 (which has no band 20) in the UK (where band 20 is the main band). It’s no problem at all if there’s an alternative.
shure
Why do you need so much in books/audiobooks? Are you reading/listening to several at once? I have like 200 gb of audiobooks, but they’re all stored on my desktop, where a 4 TB hdd was like $65.
I would buy it but… There no Jack 3.5.
Sorry, I’ll wait to Poco F2
You are wrong. Wireless charger is separate.
I do mostly everything on my phone :p
I maybe switch on my desktop maybe once per week, just to game a bit. Im on the move most of the time and while I could use an OTG cable and a portable hdd, its just more convenient to simply have my data on the phone.
Full phone dark mode as well.
Maybe. I’m getting increasingly unsure.
Turn on dark mode and substratum black theme for apps, enjoy. I have done this with oneplus phones, straight up 2 day battery.

Gonna wait for either Mi Max 4 or poco f2 or whatever phone that catch me eyes mi9 is ok I guess but it’s not my cup of tea
thank you
Reviewers get the device before actual unveiling.
And an IR blaster.
I used an IR blaster for so many situations.
1. Went to a hotel where they set the AC temperature to 25 to save costs. They wouldn’t give me the remote. I used my phone to lower temperature.
2. Use it regularly as a remote shutter for my dslr camera.
3. Use it when my brother snatches the TV remote.
4. Use it combined with Peel app to instantly find TV schedule on my phone, pressing what i like, and having it instantly appear on my tv.
5. Used it in the hospital to mute a TV that was left on by mistake. The employees weren’t able to find the remote.
6. Use it to change the channels on the TV, when I’m the only one at a bar or a club. No need to request or bother the staff for it.
7. Sometimes I’ve been so drunk, I couldn’t be arsed to get up to find the remote. Just whipped my phone out, turned the AC and my TV on.
An IR blaster is a gift from the gods and you should use it wisely and respect its power.
I’ve been using Android since the original G1. SD support in Android has always been awful. Access speeds, moving apps, developers that *don’t* let you move their apps, apps that just litter /sdcard with random crap, dealing with Adopted storage, “app2sd” hacks, rooting and force-moving apps, checking each apps’ settings to make sure it saves to external, apps on SD card not working right, apps on SD not being available after a restart, etc.
I had a 128GB SD card in my Galaxy S5. The internal storage still filled up (since most my games & apps couldn’t be moved to SD), all my music was streamed, all my movies were streamed, and all my photos were on Google Photos – so my SD card was always 95% empty.
What do people use their SD card for? Tons of offline music?
A lot of people do. Please get outside a bit, go hiking, camping, skiing, even to the beach or near a swimming pool. And you’ll understand.
I think I remember reading they can’t be bothered to do the tests, and I’m guessing they also don’t want to be bothered with customer service in case water/dust proofing fails.
Ok, but remember, I’m trusting you
try taking a call, texting or following google maps instruction in the rain. No IP rating => the phone gets fried. If you hike on a regular basis, there are so many advantages to dust and water proofing, not giving a shit about IP rating is ridiculous.
yeah, just take a little time to oxydise, and THEN it dies. And by the way, the slightest water (some time humidity) is enough to trigger the color pads inside and void the warranty.
Again, IP rating should be the norm in todays devices, if only to prevent damage from rain, basic dust, and the infamous “oupsy it fell in the loo” issue which drives smartphone manufacturers’ customer services round the bend.
I think that f2 will have more battery, IPS display and headphone jack but worst cameras
hope it will better than this mi9
Apparently people in China are positively impressed by the price.
How much does that chip cost. A dollar? 2 dollars?
That is my point
Well fuck, I was thinking of getting the Mix3 but now…
NFC isn’t used by Xiaomi’s 2 biggest markets, they use other payment methods instead, so they refuse to include it in most of their devices. The chip is cheap but the licensing costs are steep.
Perfect.
Hope it’ll have nfc
They should include the chip but have it disabled. Then the customer will have to pay 5 $ to unlock the full functionality.
Doesn’t work like that sadly, the manufacturer has to pay the license holder for including the hardware, otherwise the license holder has no guarantee they’ll get paid. The device would also require 2 separate sets of regulatory approvals (IMEI numbers, electrical signal emissions tests etc).
The mi 8 is good, the only pros is the wireless charging and a little more MGP camera
Holy crap, what’s the benefit of 12 gigs of ram? Is it just a number for show? Genuinely curious.
I feel like a wizard with my note 4. No IR is a big bummer for me.
Honestly that’s great if you want to carry around a charger and/or a battery pack with your phone. I, and many others would rather not
Preach
The GUNM Edition hyped me really up.
Somebody have an idea if it’ll be cheaper during black friday or some other special day or only older phones?
No OIS is a big down for me.
> Went to a hotel where they set the AC temperature to 25 to save costs. They wouldn’t give me the remote. I used my phone to lower temperature.
OK, I love having an IR blaster but this is over the top awesome.
Pocophone F1 owner here.
Like:
Wireless charging
Fast charging
Wide angle camera
Small notch
Don’t like:
Small battery
No OIS (seems Xiaomi now tailor their cameras entirely to do well in DXOMark, real world results don’t matter)
In-screen finderprint reader (total gimmick, i’d prefer it on the back)
Protruding camera module
Don’t think this will temp me to upgrade, I’ll wait to see what the Poco F2 is like
Having no IP rating doesn’t mean it’s not water resistant. IP ratings cost money and that increase the price. I still wouldn’t put the phone in water just to be safe but it can definitely handle rain, never had water issues with their phones and they are never IP rated. Would be interesting to see an actual test.
There is no 5g yet, so why would you need a 5g phone?
2020 alot of carriers will be rolling 5G out. Why have a phone for less than a year and you can’t use 5g?
Xiaomi will have me back once they launch a 7+ inch phone. Rocking a Mate 20X now, but would love to get back to the MIUI smoothness.
Man 4000mah don’t seem like a problem
AFAIK it’s not real 5g, it’s just ~20-30% increase over 4g, still an upgrade but not that big of a deal.
Yh I will say this to my freinds
“Look at my phone, it has almost no bezels and has innovative design, look how slim it is! Just don’t mind this thick ass dongle I carry everywhere”
You don’t see my point?
– Point was making phones few milimetres thinner at the cost of removing battery is a bad trade off.
“If you want to be on your phone all day doing shit, then you either forgo slimmer, smaller phones and go with bigger batteries”
– you did understand my point.
If you don’t have any issues then good for you. I believe Xiaomi has made a perfect phone but made wrong choices with the battery capacity. People will say “oh the 7nm and MIUI will deliver good battery life”, the battery will only appear good because MIUI has very aggressive memory management and kills apps in the background really fast to preserve battery.
If only Xiaomi could pump extra 500mah, this phone and mi mix 3 could easily be amazing phones. Other phones such as mi max series aren’t as powerful as this, and lack bezelles design of mi mix 3.
Trading one for the other…wouldn’t hurt Xiaomi to make battery little larger.
>Went to a hotel where they set the AC temperature to 25 to save costs. They wouldn’t give me the remote. I used my phone to lower temperature.
Exactly this happened with me last month.

Gotta agree 100%. SD card support has always been bad, at best.
In my case, I filled up with games, between dos/windows titles and console/arcade ones. And If I had more space I would have quite a lot more, just for the sake of it. And I have all my roms compressed, and I try to keep the windows hhd images as small as possible.
Android 9 has adoptable storage and it works like magic
Adoptable Storage *was* added all the way back with Android 6.0 (although companies like Samsung simply *patched it out* on their 6.0 builds for devices like the Galaxy S5).
Even when it works, it’s still not the best. Instead of /sdcard and /external_sd, you just have /sdcard.
Games and apps *where the developer has allowed* SD Card installs (**[android:installLocation](https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/install-location)**) then install to SD card automatically, but developers still have to *manually* allow it when they build their APK.
According to Google, “Apps can be placed on adopted storage media only when the developer has indicated support through the android:installLocation attribute.” ([Link](https://source.android.com/devices/storage/adoptable)).
Adoptable Storage is a nice bandaid for SD cards, but you can still end up in a situation where internal storage is full and your SD card is mostly empty.
I’m thinking of getting a mi9 or a poco after I saw the prices on s10 but I live in US with att specifically. Will either mi or poco work with US att? Thanks in advance.
I have an additional 128gb besides the 64gb internal storage. I use that to store 13gb of offline music and my photos get stored there. Also chrome downloads, but that’s not so much anyway.
doesn’t the mi 9 have a ir blaster ?
Dude, I personally bugged xiaomi officials till they put one in it 😂
YES IT DOES!
Since you seem to be somwhat knowledgable in this topic 😀
I would like to ask you, how are you able to control all these diffrent devices. Is There apps that have a variety of devices set up in them ?
im new to this ir blaster on phone thing, and im sligthly confused how it works. Curently have 4 ir remotes in living room, would i have to search for the specific devices in an app ? or how do i controll all of them ( tv + android box + 2 tv boxes )
There’s an app provided by xiaomi itself called “mi remote”
Basically every remote in the world has an infrared light LED on top. They flash on and off really quickly in a specific pattern, which your TV, AC and so on identify.
Xiaomi devices have this IR LED on top too, the only difference is it can flash in a million ways so all your devices can be controlled from it.
Yes you’ll have to find your brand and device in this app, it’s very easy.
Sometimes there are some very rare brands not on this app, for that you can use other apps like peel remote and other remotes on the play store.
