> getting to DSLR-level
woah, that’s a big statement. It’s getting better, but the flexibility and creative freedom of a real camera is still vastly superior.
This is fantastic, I was waiting to be able to print a picture the size of 11,608 x 8,708
The mighty Xiaomi releases good camera smartphone in low budget… And downgrading its camera by giving updates.. then we’re forced to buy new one..
Using Mi A2..
Great phone! Love it!
Just used it on a train with bad reception sometimes browsing & chatting & watching some Videos, used like 20% in 3 hours!!! This is insane. So in total i get like 12-14 hours SOT (debloated & mostly dark mode)
Charging is very fast
Camera with xtreme Gcam is phenomenal
Its very fast, no issues. Only some lag in fullscreen gestures, i think because i scales animations, but that is just MIUI issue…
The screen is very very good and very responsive
All in all great phone especially for like 250-300€
this is interesting , i will keep a close eyes on the model offering 108MP primary rear camera
What’s the point of more MP cameras when their own camera software is terrible ?
Bigger sensor doesn’t necessarily mean bigger resolution. These companies decide to increase the resolution to increase the hype. Under no circumstances should you use 108MP to take the photo. This thing is essentially a good 12MP camera
the eis on pro is great. if you get the pro its like paying 300 for a gopro hero7 black with triple lens +100 for a phone
if 4k eis is not important, then just spend 300 on a non pro phone
DSLR? I don’t think so. Depends on the product segment tho. In Sony, you got A7S series that have very good low light performance but lower resolution. (Bigger pixel size). You also got A7R series that have high resolution but still good on videos. Or you could have balance of both in A7 series.
I agree. Combined with gcam image quality will get to new levels. I’m also waiting to see what Pixel 4 will bring to the table.
Good point, but it’s fair to say that smartphone photography is certainly improving and getting to DSLR-level.
Waiting for Mi 10 SE 😉
Not sure about pixel binning for DSLRs as these cameras already got big sensors inside (Full frame or at least APS-C).
Yeah i know thats what i meant. Have the mi 9t
But i want to see what it can get out of this sensor (which is the biggest sensor ever in a Smartphone)
huawei Mate 30 will have a huge sensor and this one is even bigger lol
Its not a about the MP its about the sensor size,
that thing is like 2-3x bigger than the sensor in the Samsung Note 10 +
Also pixel Binning on hardware level helps with overall quality
But then there is also the software algo… Which is like 50% these days or more (see gcam)
Still i cant wait to see gcam with this sensor
Thanks for letting me know! I agree, 9-to-1 pixel binning will be super exciting and it’ll set a new standard for both smartphone photography and DSLRs.
Not a stupid question, this is exactly what is going to happen. 27 MP makes no sense, but 9-to-1 pixel binning will produce amazing 12MP shots
Oh, ok then, sorry
Stupid question, but is it possible to combine 9 pixels into 1 instead of 4 so the image would be 12mp down from 108mp?
Not true, for example Asus Zenfone 6 gcam supports 48mp: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-mod-asus-zenfone-6-48mp-hdr/
Anyway, the point is it is a bigger sensor, so it should produce better pictures even when set to lower resolution.
With a shitty lens, a 108MP is still a waste of energy.
It’s pixel binning, chances are that SoC will only get 12mpx finished photo.
Still, if it’s small sensor, it doesn’t matter how many pixels it has. More pixels isn’t same as bigger sensor.
Edit: They said it’s largest sensor, disregard my comment.
Exactly that’s what 5g is for, to prevent congestion on other networks (4g, 3g, 2g)
Xiaomi’s main phones, the Mi lineup barely get any love and they keep pumping phones.
12MP* is already great enough for a mobile camera.
Sony’s 12MP sensor is already potent alone. The IMX345 did a wonderful job and there are even better iterations of it already available.
But eh, I guess it’s a good idea to go even further?
You’re a genius ahhahaha
plz work on mi pad 5 instead, k, thx, bye.
4G can be pretty slow too, but good 3G signal gives you enough speed for anything (besides stuff that you wouldn’t do on mobile data anyways like UHD video)
What’s the point Google Cam Ports only supports 12MP
Sure they could’ve invested the money on making photo possessing better, instead of raising megapixels. But it’s a marketing move. Non tech interested people think more megapixels means better camera. So I don’t judge them ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯.
What do you do that 3G is plenty? I can barely load text pages or send WhatsApp messages with full 4G coverage…
Can’t wait for a xiaomi with 32gb of ram and 10tb of storage. The world is crazy.
Hell yea 30mb/picture
Actually I remember first time reading about 108mp for redmi phone.
I doubt they will put 108mp kinda untested on their main “flagship”.
Drop a few 200-300 euros redmis to see how people react, meanwhile work with what is sure thing.
It could be useful for pixel binning, to produce sharper 27mp images.
The idea I have is that it’s not a gimmick if you’re in crowded areas.
the 108MP sensor they gonna use is very big, biggest sensor on the phone market right now, so if they don’t fuck up with software, it gonna have best low-light performance
Which SoC can work with 108MP?
To be fair 5G Is a gimmick, 3G is plenty fast, let alone 4G. Plus you’d have to be within 7 or so meters from a 5G pole (with nothing in the way, not even rain) to get 5G speeds.
And following the naming convention they will be called the Mi 9S Note SE, Mi 9T Explorer K Pro, Mi K9 SE Prime Lite, and ASF9b.
The Note SE, Lite and Pro are actually all the same size, but they have different processors. The ASF9b will come with either a Mediatec processor, or the Snapdragon 625. Later they will release a 9T SE and a 9S Note Pro, both of which have nothing to do with either of the original phones.
Waiting for 5G phone
hope the big sensor can capture more dynamic range and lower noise aside from detail detail and detail
I mean in mobile photography from what i’ve seen most of times More MP = Bigger sensor
example: [http://prntscr.com/p0te4n](http://prntscr.com/p0te4n) ( S – 20MP selfie camera sensor , P- primary 64MP camera sensor )
And honestly 108MP will be used with 27MP anyway because of the pixel combining or whatever was technology was called
The 108MP sensor they are going to using is substantially bigger to be fair.
This feels like it’s just for the specs sheet. 20MP is already great enough for a mobile camera, wouldn’t it be better to work on video recording or low light performance? A bigger sensor maybe?
Jesus Christ. Just last year, I was hyped to hear about the 40 MP sensor
