Xiaomi India failed me after my Xiaomi 14’s motherboard died just days post-warranty & service. ₹35k quote, zero support. I need your help.

  • 0

I never thought I’d have to write this, but after weeks of pleading, back-and-forth emails, running around service centers, and being emotionally and financially drained—I’ve hit a wall.

I trusted Xiaomi. I believed in their promise of quality, support, and innovation. So when I bought the Xiaomi 14—paying a premium—I did so wholeheartedly. I even used the 12 Pro before and recommended the brand to friends. That’s how much faith I had.

But now I feel abandoned.

# 🛠️ What went wrong?

My **Xiaomi 14 suddenly died**, completely unresponsive, **just days after the warranty expired**, and shockingly, shortly after I had the **back glass repaired** (official Xiaomi service center, ₹3.4k paid).

It was **lying idle with 50% battery**, then—**nothing**. No power, no response. I rushed it back to the **same service center**. They told me the **motherboard was dead**. And then came the shock: **₹35,000** to fix it. No job sheet was given at first. Just that insane quote.

# 💔 Why it hurts more

* **The phone was still under warranty** when I paid for the back glass fix. Shouldn’t the overall health of the device have been checked then?
* The sudden death right after a repair **feels like a direct result of negligence** or poor quality assurance.
* I was made to **go in circles for days** just to get a job sheet number so that Xiaomi India could even acknowledge my complaint.
* **Emails were robotic** and repetitive, no escalation support offered.
* I clearly told them I’m **willing to send it to their HQ**, just to get it properly looked at. But nope—“coordinate with the service center” is all I got back.
* **Data recovery? Not their problem.**
* Their final response? **Case closed**, since I didn’t agree to the repair cost.

# 😡 What’s the point of “premium” if this is what we get?

Where is the so-called “premium support”? Where is the accountability for hardware that dies days after warranty, *after a service*? Where is the care for loyal customers?

I’ve trusted Xiaomi for years. But this? This is *beyond disappointment*. It’s **irresponsible**, it’s **negligent**, and it’s **unethical**.

# 🗣️ I’m not staying silent.

I’m posting this because **no one else should go through this**. No one should feel helpless after trusting a brand with their hard-earned money. And if this post gains attention, maybe, just maybe, Xiaomi India will listen and do the right thing—not just for me, but for others too.

📄 **Key details:**

* **Device**: Xiaomi 14
* **Jobsheet (Initial Repair)**: WXIN2503170000564 (Back glass fix)
* **Jobsheet (Motherboard diagnosis)**: WXIN2504220002919
* **Diagnosis**: Dead motherboard, ₹35k quote (They offered upto 20% discount, but clearly I am not willing to pay for just a 3 month warranty of such a costly hardware, not my problem!)
* **Timeline**: All of this happened just **days after warranty expired**

I’ve been professional, polite, patient. But that didn’t help.

Now I turn to the community.
Please **upvote**, **share**, and **spread the word**. Let’s make sure no other loyal Xiaomi customer is left stranded like I was.

If Xiaomi India sees this and still chooses to ignore it—that says everything.

Thanks for your support. I made this new reddit account just to post my rant, unluckily I can’t post it on [https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/) just yet.

I feel your pain. I was also forced to look for a new phone. I’d always been a Samsung fan, but the Exynos variants started letting me down with heating and battery drain issues. Honestly, spending ₹50K on a “stable” Samsung device seems way more worthwhile than chasing cutting-edge specs that don’t last in real-world use.

The Xiaomi 14, though… I truly believe it had the best camera and battery life I’ve ever experienced in such a compact form factor. I had the 512GB version and never even came close to running out of space. In just a year, I’d stored over 200GB of photos and videos—everything from casual shots to my most cherished moments. I never thought I’d need to rely on cloud storage thanks to its blazing-fast internal memory. But here I am, stuck, unable to access any of it. Feels like my digital life got bricked overnight.

I was considering the Oppo Find X8 as a potential next step, but honestly, my trust in Chinese manufacturers is shaken. Specs aren’t enough anymore—if I can’t rely on the company when things go wrong, then what’s the point?

Actually I am currently using Xiaomi 14 and you are right it’s fantastic phone. My only complain so far is that social media apps draining battery more than they should.

You can try to repair your mother board for 2-4k from a private repair shops.

My mi11 ultra had a mother board issue after 2.5 years of use. Repaired at a private shop for 2k.

Another option for you is to file a complaint in the consumer forum against the company.
But this will be difficult because your phone was working when they gave it to you but you have a point because it stopped working with few days.

And never charge xiaomi phones with a case.

They need to understand that while their UI and app support may not be up to the mark, yet, fans like us still accepting their market, supporting them by purchasing their high end devices, to settle here in India and bring their fantastic future flagships to the Indian market.

    Our respect is well deserved.

Even though don’t much like iphone, apple is probably the only company providing same software and hardware experience everywhere. Even Samsung providing best service experience in Korea and releasing phones with Exynos processor in India. Chinese companies focused just on selling phones in India rather than providing proper service.

I know that these things annoy, but if you were already out of warranty, even for one day, they no longer have to include any repairs, but this happens to you with Xiaomi, Apple, Samsung and with any brand… And no, just because you take them to change the back cover, that does not include the fact that they have to do a check on everything and even if they had made a plate for you, it could be fine one day and die the next.

No company is going to fix something for free while it is out of warranty, no matter how much campaign you want to mount, it is normal to be angry now but you must accept it and move on, you are not going to win this battle.

While i agree with you, samsung hasn’t quite optimized their exynos devices for Indian environs. Every year it was a little to big disaster. But this isn’t just the case for Indian devices. My Note 20 Ultra had stupid heating issues that got worse with every UI update. I even had my back glass glue ineffective at one point to hold the back glass in place.

However, exynos is still cheaper and better since samsung makes it. They not only want to design and produce their devices like apple, they are consistently working on improving their exynos chipsets. That day isn’t far. Their latest s24 series has exynos and are being sold dirt cheap in Indian market.

I may just make a purchase in that department. Imagine a samung flagship (almost s24U specs) being sold in about ₹53K on flipkart. 🫡🤫

If it is out of warranty, you are out of luck. No company will replace your phone if it dies like that, it’s not just Xiaomi.

Easier said than actually experiencing it. My situation is weird but I’m not a 100% sure if the reason for my phone dying out is actually a mishandled repair if that makes sense. An average user may or may not choose to blindly trust their “expert and experienced” technical staff. Neither they are interested in investigation.

The issue is they’re not even trying to help. This tells me that neither their products, nor their after sales support is up to the mark.

There may be a thousand reasons to why a motherboard would die, One of them could be Moisture, especially contaminated water, which can significantly damage a motherboard by creating short circuit.

How many days after warranty did this happen?

Also, Xiaomi cannot be held liable for you not backing up your data on the phone. That’s the harsh truth

It doesn’t matter how much you want to give it, mate, they are not an NGO and they don’t have to give you any help or support if the phone is out of warranty, the summary is clear, you are looking for the damage to your phone to be repaired at no cost while it is out of warranty, no mobile company, car company, appliance company or company of any kind will take care of a product that is out of warranty, and I understand you and I know that it is frustrating, but you simply have to accept it, or repair the phone paying the cost of the part and the repair. or buy a new phone, are your only two options.

That’s crazy man , I’m a first time Xiaomi 14tpro user and I hope my phone lasts . I bought it 8 months ago and it’s the global edition since I live in Texas USA . It’s the best phone I’ve ever had beats all the iPhones I’ve had pixel and Samsung . If mine does not last more than 3 years I will never in my life but another Chinese phone .I thought they would have great customer support but from the stuff I read on your post it seems they are shit and not ready for prime time ….. I’m anxious now smh

5th day of out of warranty when this happened. Ofcourse, I agree with you here. I have already gulped that harsh truth and learnt a lesson for life.

However, the phone was repaired in an official service center, while in warranty. The least i expect is an investigation. I had offered Xiaomi to take in the device to diagnose it at their HQ. They asked me submit the device back at the same service center, only to get the “jobsheet no.” where i spent a few more bucks to hear the thing officially in email, that I was already hearing from the service center. What is the point…

Ok thats straight facts. Are you liking this fact? Should it stop someone from expressing the mishap and asking for a resolution?

My primary motive is for everyone to know this happened, and then be heard. Companies may not like this post, however, nobody wants to be in this situation.

To the man who stopped inventing when his idea had failed, little did he know that someone else was working hard to make it better.

Thats an incorrect sequence. This is the real one:

    />Device is in warranty
    />Back glass cracks
/>Customer willingly pays for repaired parts (while still in warranty)
    />Device stops responding shortly after
/>Customer returns to the service center
/>Company isn’t curious enough to inspect the device themselves
/>Company says no because it’s now out of warranty
/>Customer is left with a fancy paperweight
/>Trust permanently shattered—unlike just the back glass

Or, they know removing the glass has nothing to do with the internals, and the drop YOU DID, caused internal damage.

Either way, its out of warranty so yes you are AWOL thats how warranty works.

I agree with you and what you say makes total sense. I’m not against that, it’s how these things are. But, If I were to look at this situation from a phone maker’s perspective, I’d atleast want to know what went wrong with my device that could affect any of the future devices I make?

Their competition is against Samsung and Apple, along with other chinese companies that they wish to surpass. How could this skip your eyes.

All I wish is for everyone to know my story. I am NOT expecting a repair for free. But, I do care for people’s hard earned money who may end up in a situation similar to mine.

I’ve had Samsung phones all my life, but, being a photography enthusiast and a sucker for good camera phone, I made a decision to give this phone a try. I purchased it at the launch, those shiny specs impacted my decision at the time of purchase. Now I am experiencing something I never did with Apple, Samsung or even the legends like Nokia. :'(

Thanks man. That is a bit of an eye-opener. You just made my rant feel so… meaningless ![img](emote|t5_3bs31q|52286)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy).

My intention wasn’t to make you anxious or question your device’s longetivity. I personally loved my phone. My case may be a rare one as I tried researching a lot whether other owners of xiaomi phones had similar experiences.

I did read one post that made their phones go bad after the HyperOS 1 update. However, that was for a different model. Honestly, I still wish I could get this phone back to working and continue my awesome photography experience.

I strongly wish your phone lasts a lot longer but it’s always a good idea to buy extra warranty (whereas you’re probably buying that chinese phone since it’s a cheaper alternative with much better specs on paper)

I understand you and you are right, but in the end all companies only care about one thing, money, and those who say no are simply lying, but I can assure you that these types of problems occur in all brands, believe it or not, in the years that I worked repairing mobile phones, the ones that passed through the workshop the most were precisely iPhones, from the 6 to the 13 (which was the last at that time), and obviously Xiaomis and Samsungs in droves as well, so in the end the only important thing is Do not “marry” any brand, simply move by your opinion and your tastes, but never “kill” any brand because X device fails you, because in the end it can happen to you with any brand, maybe not to you, but to others, you just have to see any forum of any brand to see that everyone has problems with their cell phones in all brands and models.

Anyway, I’m really sorry for your problem, I would have been angry too if it had happened to me, but after the anger and denial have passed, the only thing left to do is accept it, greetings!

I honestly appreciate you bringing some sense to our minds. This is honestly my first ever rant that I’ve wanted to post for other’s. But, it makes less sense to hate or kill that company just because something happened only to me but probably to no one else. That is what originally made me so curious as to why the company wouldn’t care.

But here I am posting a rant for a company that has a lot of fans globally and I hate to dissapoint them. But, the reality is if people like me don’t rant, these companies would only care less. So I am simply not regretting this post, however, I’m quite sure someone in future may get something out of it, if not just moral support.

These posts always help to let off steam, there is nothing to regret, I wish we could always get more support from companies when complaining, unfortunately this is very rarely the case, much encouragement and greetings!

That’s like very bad luck man, hope you recover financially. And what’s with Indian phones and quality issues? I’ve heard Poco motherboard issues were in India mostly and Oneplus issues also like green line. Is it true? Are their phones not upto standards or wut?

Make some noise on Twitter, tag people whom are important that might have the power to look into stuff. You’ll have to do your homework though and see who actually responds and who doesnt. You may or may not get lucky

Finally, I’d suggest moving on to a different brand which is what I did after getting burnt the same way with Xiaomi, they honestly don’t care.

Not yet. Given that their flagship series is facing an issue right after an year of usage. FYI, i don’t do much gaming. Chipsets usage pretty average during the entire year.
