as opposed to cams with no forced cloud access. the kind that comes with close circuit internal servers.
so you can decide for your self who gets which kind of access to the data.
Check out Tailwind. We have it on our garage and LOVE it. Retrofits to most existing garages and is super easy to install.
There’s a bright side in all of this – you didn’t see me naked! 😉 I hope 😉
It’s really you! :O
Sure: https://i.imgur.com/qRB0Bv4_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium
Really? Can you send a comparison photo as proof? I would love that!
I’ve sent you a PM!
You can buy the nudes. PM me 😉
The big question is, did you see anyone naked?
As opposed to American made cams with cloud access? Canadian?
If you don’t want them to shrug their shoulders, tell them what they should get instead of what they shouldn’t.
> it’s a momentary switch
Careful. It’s a momentary if you program it that way. Easy enough to do, but be aware that you’ll need to program it to be momentary. And yeah, there are a ton of fun things you can do with it.
Make sure you also check out the [MIMO](https://www.amazon.com/FortrezZ-Z-WavePlus-MiMO2-Interface-Module/dp/B008D5066C/) and [MIMOlite](https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Z-Wave-Multi-Input-Output-Contact/dp/B00B6RZ7MM). MIMOlite is 1 input & 1 output. MIMO is 2 of each.
Which came first, the cart or the horse?
You made the news in Norway:
https://www.tek.no/nyheter/nyhet/i/6jvgzW/google-blokkerer-xiaomi-etter-sikkerhetstabbe
> I second guess myself once I’ve left the house and am half way to work.
Gotcha. In that case, you wouldn’t actually need the Peanut Plug. You could just check the status of the tilt sensor in the SmartThings software on your phone.
Remember that if you want to make your garage door opening “smart” without changing much of anything, you can use [a dry contact switch like this](https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/collections/z-wave-relays/products/qubino-z-wave-plus-flush-1d-relay-module-zmnhnd3) wired in parallel with the wires for your existing garage door button. You’d be able to control the door from anywhere without needing to replace the garage door opener.
Have fun.
lol. Good pun there !!
whats the big deal again?
Here’s what Xiaomi spokesperson said to DH “Xiaomi has always prioritized our users’ privacy and information security. We are aware there was an issue of receiving stills while connecting Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p on Google Home hub. We ap…

Google did it with the permission of Xiaomi though, Xiaomi is now investigating the issue.
Be sure to protect it with a strong password you haven’t used elsewhere
I wonder what are the odds…
You’re on the news..

Given the size of Xiaomi and their close working relationship with Google I suspect this will be fixed quickly.
I also suspect they will have the steam info checked to see where the URL was generated from and all the data analysis completed within a few days.
Unfortunately it seems like this just gives people a reason to fear IoT and smart home devices, you can hear the shrieking of “won’t someone think of the children” from the tabloids.
Ultimately issues occur, when things are reported they are fixed and we all gain a better understanding of why things failed and learn from it.
Not sure how much use a still image is anyway, or even live feed for that matter, but I get that it shouldn’t happen.
Rather than lambast the companies when it goes wrong, we should praise the hard work they do putting it right quickly. Devs don’t get much credit, they go unnoticed and unappreciated then when it goes wrong they bare the brunt.
and people just shrug their Shoulders when I tell them never to buy a Chinese cam with forced cloud server
There business is app sales and other software marketplace sales. Who said it’s data?
This is absolute true as I CAN SEE MY GOD DAMN APPARTMENT on one of the photos. Disconnected the camera immediately.
Edit: thanks for posting this! Scared the crap out of me tho.
It did.

FYI if you decide that making your garage door fully ‘smart’ isn’t something you really need, there’s a pretty easy way to solve your problem of “did I close the damned garage door or not?” All you need is:
* Any home automation system like [SmartThings](https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SmartThings-Generation-GP-U999SJVLGDA-Automation/dp/B07FJGGWJL)
* A [tilt sensor](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F956F3B/ref=twister_B07GD8TTR6)
* A cheap, smart outlet like a [Peanut Plug](https://www.amazon.com/Securifi-compatible-Remotely-Monitor-Appliances/dp/B00TC9NC82)
The tilt sensor tells the automation system when the garage door is open, and the automation system turns on the Peanut Plug. I use the Peanut Plug because they go on sale on Amazon for $10 every so often. You can either just look at the status LED on the front of the Peanut Plug to see if the LED is on or off (meaning door open or closed) or you can plug a cheap nightlight into the Peanut Plug. I stuck an LED nightlight in the Peanut Plug, used a black sharpie to blackout the light sensor on the nightlight, and it works perfectly.
Wow. I have 5 of these.
But it doesn’t make sense. This is an issue related with Google nest..? Or an isolated issue only with Xiaomi?
Funny that this came from Google..who knows every damn thing about you. Lurks everyone to store free photos on their cloud. Even makes calls for you to the near restaurant for an order. Tracks you everywhere. Listens to your laptop and your phone for ads they say…
Anyway, waiting to see what’s going on here with the cameras.
I think it’s the right response on Googles side. Google integration is important for Xiaomi and if they get a slap on the wrist like that, they might take security more seriously in the future.
Wow, that was quick. Good to see that your reported issue got the attention it needs and that Google reacted promptly.
Google is taking action: [https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/01/02/uh-oh-xiaomi-camera-feed-showing-random-homes-on-a-google-nest-hub-including-still-images-of-sleeping-people/](https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/01/02/uh-oh-xiaomi-camera-feed-showing-random-homes-on-a-google-nest-hub-including-still-images-of-sleeping-people/)
That would be my guess too, what with the images being corrupt.
That’s why you don’t buy Xiaomi. Their business is the data, not the actual devices.
Ring is well known for their complete, utter, total lack of security.
This place is probably a store and they are filming for nobody to steal from the cash register.
Holy fookin’ shit. That is scary and creepy.
Probably buffer on streaming servers not being cleared between different sessions. You’re getting the first few frames of from previous user.
My bad, link I sent is for xiaofang and dafang only. sorry. There may be something out there though.
This is dope. Planning to gift my crush.
Wow, you can point them away, but they also have microphones.
Now I’m wondering if my Xiaomi Roborock vacuum cleaner has a microphone.
There’s hacked custom RTSP firmware for the OP’s model as well. I’m curious which Xiaomi Camera has Google Home stream support. My 1080p 360 (MJSXJ02CM) cameras are recognized by Google but can’t stream a feed.
AFAIK this doesn’t work on the Xiaomi camera told about in this post (The Xiaomi Mijia 1080P Smart IP Camera)
https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks turn your xiaomi cam into rtsp cam without cloud
Thats one reason why my xiaomi cams are not connected to cloud. Reflash with https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks and use your own home automation system or cctv management.
That’s why I don’t buy any of that smart home appliances since their mics are turned on all the time and that result in spying 24/7.
Wtf Xiaomi…
I actually have one of these. But was already planning on replacing it with something else. Guess i’m installing a new camera this weekend, and it sure as hell won’t be some “smart” one. Just an IP cam that only works in my own network without any cloud stuff.
Nothing is unhackable, my dude. Plus, you seen that Dr Phil episode where that hacker messed with people who had Ring cameras?
Plus: Doorbell-camera firm #Ring, which Amazon purchased for $839 million in February 2018, has now partnered with up to 631 law enforcement agencies in the US, creating a public surveillance tool for police departments through its video doorbells. A CNET investigation in September found that Ring doesn’t limit how police can use the technology.
Yeah I’m sure Ring and all those other cameras have a backdoor.
and that’s the reason why i’m never gonna get smart home devices..
What the hell is going on in this picture? https://i.imgur.com/2bapovB.jpg
Why not just make the door smart instead then?
In what app would that be?
I have the same camera…..
imagine a buggy botnet
Cteepy
That’s insane.
I used to get translation results from other people, but then they fixed it quietly.
#Xiaomi your secrets
go bigger, post this shit everywhere.
Bring it up on their Social Media, this looks like something really fucked up.
Happy New Year!
this is kind of scary, I’d get rid of that thing asap
Shit. Hope this blows up.
Jesus. Well, kinda to be expected. Smart homes are just invitations to the government and hackers to look inside
Here’s more stills:
