Greetings Fam.
I’m planning to get XIAOMI 15U for my wife, for her birthday next month, since she loves photography and she needed a new phone.
I’ve seen many reviews and comparison videos in YouTube about this phone and I have few queries to ask.
1. Is this phone potrait photo overprocessed like making this skin look pale and beautified ?
2. Is the EGDE defection is good ?
3. Does night photo option available in this phone and based on some videos, this phone bad at low light situation.
4. How about the battery life? Some saying its draining fast and didn’t get much screen time.
5. How about software and hardware?
6. Some photos came out like overexposed/yellowish colors ?
7. Is the phone heating up too much?
Thank you in advance for assisting me on this.
I will speak only skin tone for now. If you buy phone in your region then no problems with skin tones. If you buy from international market than skin tones are adjusted to people of that region.
Heard that x200 Pro been downgraded since x200 ultra release.
I’d recommend the vivo x200pro or x200 ultra (china versions), better cameras and cheaper
I have this phone and would say, while a very nice device, I’m not as impressed with it overall as I hoped. It does very good in most situations, but the battery life is shorter than I feel it should be for the size it has and charging speed is horrible (slower than my S25 Ultra). But to answer those questions: 1) no it doesn’t appear beautified. 2) I have no complaints about the edge detection, but I also don’t pixel-peek. 3) it does about the same as my Oppo Find X8 Ultra, S25 Ultra and many others. Some shots are amazing in low light and some other phones do better. They all go back and forth. 4) I actually don’t mind hyperOS, it works. And so far I haven’t had any overheating issues (had it since launch). My only true dislike about it is the battery and charging speed. My S25 Ultra charges about 10 minutes faster and my Oppo Find X8 Pro, Oppo Find X8 Ultra, and OnePlus 13 are twice as fast as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra
Thank you for the prompt reply, mate. Appreciated much. I shall get a hands-on experiences once I go check their specs in their branch soon.
I would actually suggest getting the Vivo X200 Pro instead because it has much better processing and battery life
Best phone choice in years for me. I have been a dslr user and actually think that I can do gr8 photography on the go with it.
I set my own profiles when I have time to use them so I also do not use the portrait ai stuff, I select the lens wisely to get naturally good bookeh it is enough via the 1″ sensor.
Only gripe is OS is basic and the battery gets drained, I feel the phone is trying to gauge usage pattern and if you do something unusual after a week it goes haywire.
Bottom line is that this is one of the best camera phones at the moment. S25ULTRA doesn’t come close.
Phones a little awkward to hold and heavier but I am all for it.
I have also heard that it hasn’t
1. You can turn it off
2. It’s certainly much better than apples but worse than vivo or oppo (oppo > vivo > xiaomi > apple)
3. It’s okay at night. Maybe gcam will make it better, haven’t tried.
4. Battery life tanks using the camera. Measured using gcam, it takes up around 35%/hour but otherwise it’s not bad, 6-7h sot easy
5. Switched from iOS 18, HyperOS is really not that bad. I haven’t experienced any bugs or slowdowns. Screen and build are good. Screen gets stupidly bright
6. Yes and I think the overexposing part is deliberate as real cameras dont have that HDR look that phones have and Xiaomi is trying to emulate that. White balance has been on point for me
7. While charging at the full 90w and using in direct sunlight (not shade), yes. It’ll dim the screen and turn the refresh rate down after a few minutes
Thank you mate for your reply. Appreciated much. Actually aimed for x200 ultra but they made only for CN
I can get via online, but if there is any aft sales problem, I cant even get assistance at my country, since they don’t have specs here.
As an X200 Pro user, I can tell you that it hasn’t. Just to add some real experience to the convo
This is a fair warning when you use the camera it dramatically drains the battery
I use this phone. Fastest phone on the market.
Camera is good. But processing is behind Vivo and iPhone.
Portrait mode is good. Zoom is good. It takes sharp photos.
If your wife likes photography to the level of taking Raw pics and editing the colors later I’m sure you will enjoy it.
If you can I would say try Vivo x200 pro too
1. I feel it’s okay, in fact it is less processed than other brands.
2. The edge detection is not the best, but quite usable. It has a large periscopic sensor with natural depth of field, which I prefer over artifical bokeh effect. You can later use Lightroom to increase the aperture stop for a more shallow depth of field.
3. It doesn’t have a dedicated night mode, but it will automatically use night mode if applicable. The periscopic sensor is a little underwhelming at night, often get blurry photos, but main cam is good.
4. Battery life is bad, but since I have the EEA version, it is not like significanly worse than other options here like Samsung.
5. Software is okay, vivo’s Funtouch OS has more functionalities but also more bloatware.
6. No yellowish colour. It might turn out darker due to the Leica tuning.
7. Phone heats up using 67w charger, will not recommend using it while charging full power
I have this device.
I do love it. But I still hope that it could had been bit better. Maybe that is just human nature to Desire more.
But overall, I would highly recommend to get Vivo x200 Ultra. That would be best phone to get if you are going to click ton of pictures of your wife and friends and so on.
For portrait, type of artistic look and really refined PREPROCESSING done by Vivo is great actually and especially due to now their 35mm lens.
If you would like to save some money and get even better battery life due to Mediatek chipset being very efficient then Vivo X200 pro would be great option too. Suggesting this option because there is global version available for Vivo x200 pro.
Otherwise go for Vivo x200 ultra.
