Hey everyone,
I’ve had my **Xiaomi 15 Ultra** for about 4–5 weeks, and I’m noticing a strange issue with the camera’s **optical image stabilization (OIS)**:
When using **Pro mode** and **disabling EIS**, there’s a **subtle but constant rotation wobble** in the footage – like the image is gently twisting around the lens axis.
What’s odd is that this happens even during **handheld shots where I’m holding the phone as still as possible**. It’s not the result of movement or walking – it happens in otherwise static situations.
✅ The issue is:
* visible **on all lenses** (I’ve included example clips)
* reproducible **in third-party apps** like **mcpro24fps** and **MotionCam Pro**, as long as OIS is active
* happening in **scenes without camera movement**, just handheld but steady
I’m currently on **HyperOS version 2.0.103.0.VOAEUXM**, and the issue persists after restarts and across all OIS-enabled modes.
▶️ **Example videos:**
I’ve uploaded footage from three (1x / 3x / 4.3x) lenses to Google Drive:

Has anyone else noticed this? Could this be a defect in the OIS hardware, or is it just how it behaves when EIS is disabled?
I’d really appreciate any feedback before going the return/repair route. Thanks in advance!
it just how it behaves without EIS. i used s23u, op12, xiaomi14u, same thing in these phones as well. with motioncam pro app, the video will not be stable at all because of lack of EIS. u need gimbal for stabilization while shooting raw.
Yeah, I totally understand that OIS naturally introduces some movement, especially in handheld shots. But what strikes me as odd is **how visible the wobble is on the 1x lens**, especially considering how short the focal length is. That kind of subtle “twitchy” rotation just doesn’t feel right.
I used the **Xiaomi 13 Pro** before this one and also did a lot of RAW video recording with OIS enabled – there was of course some movement, but **nothing that looked like this kind of jitter**. It’s noticeably more nervous and less stable on the 15 Ultra, at least on my unit.
mine is not that wobbling but ask once in motioncam discord server
Thanks again – that’s helpful to hear.
Good to know yours isn’t wobbling that much. That makes me wonder even more if it’s a hardware-specific issue on my device.
I’ll definitely check out the MotionCam Discord, great tip!
i will test mine again and will update u
Appreciate it – thanks for taking the time to check again!
Looking forward to hearing what you find. 🙌
Send feedback to Xiaomi through the “feedback” option at the bottom of settings. They need that to be able to provide fixes. Any bugs or such just report and send to them. They will reply you back of they need further feedback from you. I’ve sent in things i’ve found so far.
Im using the Xiaomi 15 and the twitching isn’t that obvious but again depends on what’s scenario one is trying to capture, for a relatively stable handheld video it shouldn’t be that pronounced. Not sure if its coz of the larger sensor on the ultra.
Thanks a lot for the tip! I’ll definitely do that – good to know Xiaomi actually responds through the Feedback option. 🙌
Thanks for sharing that – really helpful!
I agree, for a relatively stable handheld shot, I wouldn’t expect that much visible twitching, especially on a wide lens like 1x.
Your point about the larger sensor on the Ultra possibly affecting OIS behavior is interesting – I hadn’t considered that.
That said, I used the **Xiaomi 13 Pro** before this, which also had a 1-inch sensor, and I never saw this kind of rotational jitter on that phone. That’s why I’m starting to wonder if it’s a hardware-specific issue on my unit.
