So as the post title says, I bought a screen glass guard and applied it to Xiaomi 15 and the fingerprint sensors straight up stopped working. I can not register a new fingerprint either, it just doesn’t read. Anyone else facing the same?
Had the same issue with my Xiaomi (not the 15, but similar in-screen fingerprint model). After applying a random tempered glass, the fingerprint sensor just stopped responding—couldn’t unlock, couldn’t even register a new print. I switched to a Gadgetshieldz screen protector and surprisingly, the sensor worked fine again. Seems like not all glass protectors are made with ultrasonic or optical readers in mind. Learned that the hard way.
I tried previously to someone and it failed but I can try again.

Hmm weird, my s24u will also refuse to register any fingerprint when using tempered glass
That is common. Never use glass, buy foil instead. That is why there is one when you newly purchased phone and not the glass…

Ultrasonic fingerprints don’t work with thick screen glass. That’s the same for every brand that uses it.
This is the same situation with my current brand of glass SP. The Youlong brand glass SP that I unfortunately broke last week was significantly better. I didn’t have any problem registering fingerprints nor unlocking the phone. It worked as well as the factory plastic film.
I installed the smart devil tempered glass on my xiaomi 15 and THEN i registered my fingerprints. What i did was pressed the screen HARD to register. It works kinda ok. Most of the time it works but sometimes it doesn’t recognize my prints.
I guess FP works better on plastic screen protectors? I have yet to find one that works well.
on my s25 it works like a charm with glass, also worked like a charm on s23 with glass.. i know some issue will be there, but on the xiaomi it stratght up refuses to register a fingerprint at all
Afaik, ultrasonic fingerprints don’t work well on glass based screen protectors like tempered glass, I had s24u, the FP also doesn’t work with tempered glass, so I use plastic based screen protector.
As I said, there is a brand that I posted that works really well. Look for it. I had to post the link in hex codes after one of the redittor helped as normal links somehow didn’t show up.
Ok so is it like i have to keep soending on screen guards for xiaomi 15 till i find one that works 😭😭
I am not sure if it is linked to curved glass and requirement for a thin glass SP. But I posted a brand that I got from Taobao that works. Sadly for me it cracked as I lifted it to get rid of a bubble. Now I am using a brand from Taobao which I bought the same time and this brand is hopeless. Very hard to get the fps to work krss my fingers are super moist.

Yes some glass SP are not great for FPS. Try moisturising you fingers. If it still doesn’t work then, you will have to replace with those that work.
