# Bugs
# Exposure Presets Do Not Work with RAW
* **Issue:** The saved exposure presets **always switch** the image format **to JPG**, even if RAW was previously selected.
* **Expected Behavior:** Presets should either store the selected image format or ignore it (keeping RAW if it was active before).

# Switching Cameras in 50MP RAW Mode Forces JPG
* **Issue:** If you switch to a camera that does not support 50MP RAW, the system automatically switches to JPG. Even when switching back to the main camera, the setting remains JPG.
* **Suggestion:** Add an option to prioritize either 50MP or RAW when changing cameras.

# ISO Inconsistencies in Pro Mode (JPG vs. DNG)
* **Issue:** When shooting in ProMode, if I set the ISO to a specific value (e.g., ISO 12.500), the JPG file reflects that ISO correctly. However, the corresponding DNG file is recorded at a significantly different ISO (e.g., ISO 6410). The JPG appears soft and muddy, whereas the DNG looks clear and preserves details.
* **Expected Behavior:** Both JPG and DNG files should maintain the same ISO value to ensure consistent exposure and image quality. Since the JPG is essentially an extracted copy of the DNG, both files should exhibit the same level of detail.
# Overexposure and blown highlights in RAW and URAW Mode (JPG vs. DNG)
* **Issue:** DNG files exposure does not match the preview and histogram shown while taking the shot, resulting in burned out highlights and missing image data.
* **Impact:** This results in the JPG displaying more highlight details, while the DNG (URAW) file fails to capture those details accurately—leading to highlights that are preserved in the JPG but burned out in the DNG.
* **Expected Behavior:** Exposure should match the onscreen histogram, zebra and preview. DNG file should not lose highlights when compare to the jpg in both RAW and URAW
# Missing GPS Coordinates in DNG Files
* **Issue:** When shooting in Pro Mode, GPS coordinates are stored in the JPG file but missing in the corresponding DNG file.
* **Expected Behavior:** GPS data should be included in both file formats, as it is essential for geotagging and later image management.
# Photo Mode does not retain the last used camera/zoom level
* **Issue:** When selecting a specific camera in Photo Mode and switching to another mode (e.g., Pro Mode, where the selected camera is retained), the camera choice is lost when returning to Photo Mode. Instead of keeping the previously used camera or zoom level, it always defaults to the main camera.
* **Expected Behavior:** Photo Mode should remember the last used camera and zoom level so that users don’t have to manually reselect them after switching modes.

# Inconsistent Focal Length on HP9
* **Issue:** The focal length of the HP9 sensor is not the same in PhotoMode and ProMode, even though both claim they are 4.3x 100mm. ProMode is clearly wider, equivalent to 4.1x 96mm, which used to be the focal length the HP9 started with in Photo Mode, before the current update (it now starts at 4.3x).
* **Expected Behavior:** Get the labels right, either you have stated wrong technical specs for the phone and this is a 96mm lens, then be honest with your customers and label it as such. Or what we see in ProMode is really 100mm, then don’t start cropped in on the sensor in PhotoMode, use the full sensor in the beginning.
# ProMode dng+jpg produces unusable soft jpgs
* **Issue:** When using Pro Mode with the “DNG+JPG” setting enabled, the resulting JPGs are significantly worse. They are noticeably softer, duller, and lacks detail compared to the DNG .
* Interestingly, if you switch to JPG-only in Pro Mode (no DNG), the resulting JPG is **much better**. This suggests that the bad JPG quality is directly tied to the DNG+JPG combination (storing the low quality embedded preview as jpg copy?).
* **Expected Behavior:** Jpg should have the about the same level of details as the dng and not look like a 10% compression level copy

# New Features would also be fun:
# Enable 50MP RAW for the 100mm Telephoto Camera (or all cameras)
* **Issue:** The 100mm telephoto camera does not support 50MP RAW, even though the HP9 sensor is capable of it.
* **Suggestion:** Unlock the 50MP RAW option for all sensors, which would also prevent RAW settings from being lost when switching cameras.
# Store Exposure Settings Per Camera Module
* **Issue:** Currently, exposure settings apply globally to all cameras, even though different lenses require different optimal settings.
* **Suggestion:** Allow individual exposure settings for each camera module. For example, wide-angle lenses often require different shutter speeds and exposure compensation than telephoto lenses.
# Shutter Speed Limit Like in Professional Cameras
* **Issue:** Currently, only fixed shutter speeds can be set, which can lead to overexposure in changing lighting conditions if the set speed is too long.
* **Suggestion:** Add an optional **maximum shutter speed limit**, similar to professional cameras:
* The camera can use **shorter** shutter speeds but not longer than the defined limit.
* This prevents motion blur while still allowing automatic exposure adjustments in good lighting conditions.
* **Example:** If the limit is set to **1/500s**, the camera can choose **1/500s or faster** but will never use a longer shutter speed, ensuring sharp images in action, sports, or moving subjects (kids, pets, etc.).
# DNG+JPG Toggle for Photography Kit
Problem: When switching between camera modes, the RAW setting is often lost.
**Suggestion:** Many useful functions can already be assigned to the video button, but there is currently no option to toggle between JPG, RAW, and URAW formats. Adding this feature would improve workflow efficiency.
Share this to Xiaomi via the feedback option in the settings section. They appropriate this feedback for further improvements and they also replay back of they need more information.
I’m already using the in‑app feedback option, but single reports just get buried. These camera bugs affect all of us—please upvote this post and also share these issues via the feedback option. The louder we make this, the harder it’ll be for Xiaomi to ignore.
I’ve sent them a few findings and gotten replies for all of them. They want the feedback and all of us users needs to give it to them
But did you get any solutions or just a “we will look into it” and never heard from them again?
Does Xiaomi even bother with feedback though? I’m seeing more and more people complaining about how Xiaomi doesn’t bother fixing with updates and they don’t even update their phones enough..
I don’t know, have been using Samsung the last years, I just hope they do.
They told me that they will forward my feedback for further improvements
That’s what Samsung told me over 2 years ago on the issue of broken RAW support on their phones, remaining unfixed until today, on 4 generations of phones. I just hope Xiaomi is better.
Yeah I’ve been using a note 20 ultra. Really going to miss the microSD card.
I choose to believe that Xiaomi is better. They do seem to care in my opinion.
I think the hardest part is always to get through to someone that has the actual technical expertise to understand the issue.
People often are ignorant about the fact that Chinese rom gets updates way earlier than global and india.
So many complaints are around that, delayed updates but not an actual delay when seen area wise.
Hope this gets their attention.
A reddit post won’t, did you contact support?
Why isn’t there a traditional 2:3 aspect ratio in photo and pro mode?
Why cant you change the resolution to 50MP in fast shot mode?
Yep ofc
Because that’s not how the sensor was produced.
Fastshoot only uses crops, so it can’t take 50MP because it does not use the full sensor.
Also I had found the HDR processing to be subpar. Messes up the skintone. So i chose not to use HDR at all.
Xiaomi support check also reddit, but pls report though the feedback app, also join the official telegram for that !
You could post this in Telegram if you are a member of this group and think people could help forward this to support.
You can join also, and share
Your idea your job. 😉
Workaround to fix raw metadata:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/1k2sjao/xiaomi\_15\_ultra\_script\_to\_fix\_incorrect\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/1k2sjao/xiaomi_15_ultra_script_to_fix_incorrect_and/)
Going by that logic, the camera shouldn’t be able to digitally zoom further because it only maxes out at 100mm equiv optical.
Theres no reason why they cant make fastshot mode shoot at an enhanced higher MP than the low 12MP that its currently restricted to.
The logic behind it is consistency, if only one camera can do it it’s broken.
Good thread. About the last one – I think it is related to the fact, that both JPG and DNG have the same processing pipelines, the output for both is just generated in different steps of that pipeline. And that means, when you select DNG + JPG in RAW, there is just single frame taken. Exactly the same behavior I had on Samsung Galaxy S23Ultra in PRO mode, so single frame as well. JPG quality was really bad. Seems like that even if not for HDR multiframe stacking happens to get better signal to noise ratio and better details.
It should be a single frame, that’s the purpose of real raw but it clearly does not have to be that bad as a normal development of the dng proves.
But yea it’s not that much of an issues, if I could I would completely disable jpg output (I have the dng I don’t need the jpg). Samsung had this option, but of course with Xiaomi I need the jpg to copy the correct metadata that’s missing to the dng.
