China rom?
Oh didnt know that device only shipped with global
That’s why I always keep Blokada on and try to avoid the Xiaomi apps as much as I can.
Which DNS are you using?
Ya I know but in settings there are multiple DNS options to choose from. Which one do you have selected.
Oh no xiaomi is spying you. So do google, huawei, samsung and any other phone manufacturer. Is that so unexpected?
Sorry I grabbed blokada from Google Play and it appears it’s a slim version t has DNS and VPN only. No ad blocking. Reinstalled full version from your posted site and now have ad blocking.
And which host list are you using for ad blocking. Recommended?
Yes?
LOS?
LineageOS
it’s the same on my A2 Lite – so even with android one
Just use any custom rom, Anything is better than MIUI Imo
Nothing unexpected from a Chinese service provider …. and this is common thing on internet !
It’s not about China, it’s about the pricing of their phones. They sell the products at a loss, so they have to make money somehow, their way is by ads.
But I cannot live without Second Space feature. What alternatives are there?
this is one one of the reasons xiaomi phones are so cheap they sell your data advertisers kinda like google. but they have begun sending ads to user like samsung in some countries and soon all of them will have ads.
can you please provide me legit reference of that they are selling product at loss ?
Not at a loss, [but with no profit.](https://techcrunch.com/2016/11/25/xiaomi-admits-it-doesnt-make-money-on-smartphone-hardware-sales/)
Xiaomi.eu is just a debloated and refined version of MIUI CN. Recommended
Is there a way to keep blokada running even when closing the app from multitasking?
It ships with both depending on where you buy it from
How would someone do so ? Is there a way to avoid rooting the phone?
Is there already a stable LOS version for mi 9?
Care to explain?
Yeah maybe. But its android and android can be changed😂😆
You can use Google Play version too. Chose AdGuard DNS for blocking ads.
Is there a guide to flashing the ROM? and does the rom let you move apps to SD card, very annoying that you cant do that on base ROM
Thank you so much
r/im14andthisisdeep
Yeah and so does Google Facebook Instagram Twitter Huawei apple etc etc
Never saw an option to remove these when I debloat. Installing custom rom is the best option?
Is there anyway to get the gestures with it? Like the hold on side to go back etc.
I recommend xiaomi eu too
Not all of us are tech savvy. For example, do you think a village elder in a remote part of Tibet can do it?
i got i too when i red your post but evritime i close it, it the background task gets killed.
i made a post:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/dxbgwq/how\_to\_add\_apps\_to\_the\_exception\_in\_security\_miui/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/dxbgwq/how_to_add_apps_to_the_exception_in_security_miui/)
did you have the same problem and/or do you might know a solution?
Only thing remotely close is Fluid Navigation Gestures.
Still not as good as Xiaomis copy/pasted apple gestures
Wouldn’t you want the ones tracking you be lesser evil? I know you they all spy on you but I’d take a western company doing it than China.
Do you guys recommend the MIUI 11 weekly builds? I’d install it but I’m on the fence about whether it’s stable or not for my Mi 9T.
especially if you live in china, near it, or plan to visit it. them nibbas can check your phones and laptops whenever they want
I would go for it. I’m on MIUI 11 weekly build and personally can’t find any bug. Usually these weekly updates bring fine features and improvements more than bugs. Give it a try and if you are not happy then flash stable 🙂
EDIT.
I’m on MI 9
The China is lesser evil in this example. They at least can’t use it to show me any relevant targeted ads based on my searches or location.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I think I will do that. Only problem I have to go through at the moment is unlocking the bootloader and finding an unofficial twrp version that works. Wish me luck!
There isn’t for Redmi note 7 :/
Whatever, been blocking ads for over a decade.
No, they aren’t the lesser evil here. They not only harvest your data like most western companies do, but literally spy on you, and if you’re an official, they can use it for espionage as well.
sounds like your standard javascript infestation.
Random question but how do I know blokada is actually working?
But with Blokada and a debloated ROM, they actually don’t get very much at all, right?
Xiaomi tracks you, surprise surprise
I see that, but do I have to pay a subscription to block the tracking?
You’re saying that as if western companies don’t already bend over to the chinese goverment lol
Don’t be naive.
Without seeing exactly what is sent to the servers it looks like typical analytics. Like you would find on any website/app. Analytics often used to make the product better. Should this be opt in? Yes (I think there is a way to opt out in the settings iirc), but don’t act like you are surprised when 99% of the apps on your phone are doing the same thing without asking and without giving you a way to opt out.
And there is often nothing nefarious. I’m a developer and use analytics all the time to improve my apps.
After using xiaomi for 4 years, i realize their tracking/bloatware actually gradually make your phone slower by filling up space and processes more and more. And by that I meant a lot.. It uses up 20GB of my internal storage(4 years of usage). It was one process named eu.Miui.security.
I had to factory reset to remove it, cleanmaster can’t remove it as it’s system files.
I also use huawei and Samsung deivces but they aren’t to this extent..
del5eted.
How is a western company a lesser evil? When China tracks you they can’t really do shit (and the tracking is probably for ads or telemetry windows 10 is full of that shit too) because you don’t live in china
When a western company tracks you you may end up in some NSA watchlist, that may actually influence your live.
I know that for some of you this is a shock (in 2019 it shouldn’t be but whatever),but every tech company tracks the hell out of you these days,Google, Microsoft Facebook,Twitter, Netflix,Spotify and others track every single thing about you when you use their products.
But somehow this is only bad when Chinese companies do it.
You really think that Google doesn’t spy you too?, google probably knows your real name, your location, your age,,your job, your hobbies, your taste in porn, your favorite movies and probably your medical history too and they use that to Target their ads for you.
But somehow that kind of spying is acceptable for people like you when western companies do it.
Some people on the US even end in some NSA/FBI watchlists have you ever wondered how they end up there?
do you need root or something for that?
I have note 8 pro, and I have not come across a single add.
use custom rom
Your username is special!
But I use incognito mode
Well Google already tracks you, Samsung is opt in.
If you buy a Xiaomi product and do not block, then you are being tracked by Google, Xiaomi, and Chinese Government.
Do you not know about China? I mean at least in western countries we have enforceable privacy laws, also clearly you have no clue about the reaches of China, or what they can do with your data or why they would want it.
100% western companies are the lesser evil.
Or they’re just the lesser evil with the current information available to us?
Evil is evil no matter what, but it’s pretty stupid complain about China tracking but still buying China phones.
The information you have perhaps. Having been to China, and having friends there, it’s 10000% the greater evil, and I go to great lengths to mitigate my data being available to them.
I agree! My phones are made South Korea.
Power of Anti-China propaganda headlines, they made people paranoid and they don’t realize all websites, apps and social medias already uses their data on the same way.
Does this tracking still persist even after debloating with Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools? Can you debloat and check please 🙂
Interesting. Never had Blokada killed on mine even before switching to xiaomi.eu
I don’t think the NSA,the CIA or the FBI care about the privacy laws, more often than not they’re the ones making the devices insecure by design and inserting backdoors or deploying rootkits, that’s spying by government agencies,or they pressure companies like Google to give them data of their customers, just like china

I’m not trying to defend xiaomi’s telemetry here, but saying that “western companies are the lesser evil” is with all respect… bullshit.
Ah okay. My problem is it keeps turning off when the app isn’t open in the background, not sure why. Using a Xiaomi mi 9
Yep 5 eyes is where it’s at. You read Snowden articles right? Have you seen how China has influenced countries around the world? I mean if you think 5 eyes is scary, you have no clue haha.
Does this app block youtube ads?
Ahh. That why i didn’t update it
I live in a neighbouring Asian country and have been to China many times.
The point is this doesn’t particularly impact you *if you don’t live in China*. If you were a political dissident that lived in China yes this absolutely should concern you. If you don’t live in China I doubt the Chinese government cares much about you. Your own government on the other hand.
This is absolutely not saying that the Chinese government is better or less autocratic than a Western one. It’s not, it’s an authoritarian state. Just that they don’t care about YOU.
I live in a neighbouring country to China and have visited it several times. They don’t care. They don’t search anything, the reports of that are all in Xinjiang.
It’s an authoritarian state, don’t get me wrong. They just don’t care about YOU specifically.
The US and other Western countries can confiscate and/or search your electronics at the border too, and they do so regularly.
https://theintercept.com/2019/06/22/cbp-border-searches-journalists/
https://www.businessinsider.com/can-us-border-agents-search-your-phone-at-the-airport-2017-2
I would say the Chinese government cares more about getting my data than my own country does. China’s biggest weapon against the rest of the world is as you should know, information. It is more important to them than anything else.
Go and lock the app in recent menu pane. Long press on the preview and hit the lock button.
Privacy laws? You mean how my government [banned data encryption](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-46463029) and forces ISPs to retain data indefinitely?
Or how I can be [forced to unlock my phone at the border](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-08/if-a-border-agent-demands-access-to-your-digital-device/10350762) so border agents can download all of my data, and go to jail if I refuse?
I feel way more threatened by my own fucking government than any other one.
Oh you just live in the US. Sorry mate.
does it use much battery?
Thanks it seems to stay now
They are cracking down hard on the hk stuff tho
Yep you are right, using youtube vanced now
I already did that but if I close the app in the task manager it still won’t run in the background
Still thanks
MIUI11 only brought a shit ton of ads onto my phone. It can’t be fully deactivated to stop fully ads and banners at the bottom when on wifi. So I tried this app too. It didn’t stop them either.
Welp now I’m rooted on a xiaomi.eu rom 😁
They might care if you were a government official, or if you worked in a sensitive industry where they were engaged in espionage. As would the US care, as would the UK, as would Russia. If this isn’t you, I doubt they would care. What is it, *exactly* that you think the Chinese want to know about YOU? What are they going to do with your data exactly? Can you spell that out?
Sure they are. And how does that impact YOU or your life, unless you are a Hong Konger?
Look- I’m not trying to defend China’s system of government here. I don’t like that, I don’t like what they are doing with Hong Kong either. I have friends in Hong Kong, it’s a great city and I have visited it a few times. I would prefer if Hong Kong secured autonomy and democracy.
I’m just saying that using a Chinese brand *phone* (1) I am skeptical that it is actually spying on you in particular anyway, beyond the regular tracking for advertising purposes and (2) even if it was, or was capable of doing so, I just don’t think the Chinese government is particularly interested in random Westerners.
No.
Installing custom roms is practically the same regardless of the rom or phone your using. Installing the recovery may be different, but just read the guide on xda. Depending on the rom you may need to flash open gapps aswell but thats it. You may lose features or get more depending on the rom.
Never used this feaure, is this any good? Care to explain?
It’s a second profile on the same phone. Has its own accounts, apps, settings, fingerprints, etc. Allows you to have say a work and home phone space. You can even have notifications from one space send you alerts (not the content of the messages/notifications/email) when you are in the other space
Now do one for google
Idiot
So west = lesser evil? Another naive idiot here
dont want to doxx myself here but that stuff do affect me and i am not a westerner
idk if you heard the news but Xiaomi has been caught a few times forwarding your sms, incoming call logs etc to their Beijing server, so did one plus. best case scenario here xiaomi devices are zombie bots helping their government planning DDOS attacks
This is [“Mi Message” cloud messaging](https://www.quora.com/I-use-the-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-which-runs-on-MIUI-and-I-want-to-know-how-to-use-the-Mi-Message-feature-so-I-can-send-messages-to-other-Xiaomi-users) for free SMS to other MIUI users, just like iMessage for iOS.
You know Apple devices send messages to a server in the US as part of iMessage?
https://thenextweb.com/asia/2014/08/10/xiaomi-makes-miui-cloud-messaging-service-optional-users-following-security-concerns/
if u want complete privacy dont use phones computers or the internet.
He might know someone who does. Eventually China could have a large dragnet surveillance system that will catch even those avoiding their products, if they’re everywhere.
Hi, how did you configure the Blokada?
