Why the hell does Xiaomi let this Cheetah Mobile junk on their devices? Uploading folder names? Why?!

I’m otherwise impressed with Xiaomi, but this is BS.
Samsung has used them as well (not sure about now)
Use xiaomi.eu to avoid the junk
It’s a custom MIUI based ROM without the junk
Thanks
One more thing. So if I flash this on my device. Am I suppose to manually update each time Xiaomi drops a new miui update or its automatic like it happens with the updater app ?
Xiaomi.eu gives their own updates
Okay. Thanks man
Use the default system app cleaner these apps are shit.
I never knew that this existed lol.
You’re not supposed to use any kind of app cleaner especially if you’re using android 5.1+
Can I install Xiaomi.eu from the file, and then restore from a local backup? Or do I need TWRP for that?
Okay but why?
Over time Google implemented “cleaning” on an OS level. So whatever those apps claim to do android actually does the same but at a safe level and without obstructing running apps.
Deleting cache also might have been useful when phones had less memory but now you’re just making the processor compute more every time you open an app you just “cleaned”
Last time I was on that around September, it still had the cleaner app? Did they eventually get around to stripping that out as well?
I was also wondering why ‘Mi Remote’ needs access to internet and location
Thanks for the info 🙂
Flash a custom ROM or a MIUI version without bloatware like Xiaomi.EU
Xiaomi devices are cheap because they don’t profit selling hardware, but services and data. The device you’re buying is a terminal to be the client or product of these services.
I guess its a form of learning, so other users can also get rid of potential junk from their device, which might have the same name, if they have the same app(s)
They have straight out said that they sell these devices with low profit margins to make money off software
In case that you need to know how far are you from your TV on the living room, it’s there to help you. Of course.
Except the pixel devices are hella overpriced.
Use miui debloater. And remove “Cleaner” app. Download from wiki of this sub.
You can also remove other miui bloatware using miui debloater.
It’s actually true. My remote app shows the distance from the device (first used location) and labels them in order accordingly
Yeah I know, I was just pointing out that they also gave customers the stick with their overpriced pixel phones. I’m a little butt hurt now because I bought the 2xl for about 1k usd and then xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2s dropped so Ill have a nice $1k useless pixel once I get that
That is not all it looks for, check the permission if you want to install it on another rom/device.

Is there a switch to disable this?
Yes, but this shouldn’t be the case for any well respected manufacturer. The last few years I have stopped changing ROMs etc… since the manufacturers ROM are pretty good and solid. If you have to flash out of the box… this is a bad sign.
WTF?? Also contacs, camera, mic, calls, messages, media.. Fuck that’s not cool
I use this instead on my device: –

May not have all the features of the Mi app, but it suits my needs.
Just two days ago, they switched to 360 Security. I’d be more concerned about 360 Security than Clean Master honestly.
AFAIK this is the reason.
The mail app still offered me some office app to download when wanting to open a pdf.
I don’t understand. What is this about?
Remember the majority of xiaomi users end up using a lot of badly written apps in China that probably still do need cleaning up from time to time. WeChat for example leaves a lot of mess.
In the settings you could change it to tencent (which runs WeChat)’s scanner
This sounds promising
