I’m with you. I loved xiaomi phones. Samsung or maybe Nokia now. I’ll be seeing exactly where any model I consider is being made though.

RAM management in general with android is shoddy. That being said, I must agree that I haven’t noticed egregious management with my Mi 10 Pro. It’s actually been rather good. Might be because I’ve grown used to the crappy RAM management my Pixel 3XL had though but I generally only ever have 3-4 apps that I’m swapping between at most.

Either way both Mi 10 Pro or OP 8 Pro would be useful only if your provider has 5g spectrum. There is a major price difference between SD 855 and SD 865 as the 5g modem is integrated into the SoC.

    > They always have only 5% margin irrespective of the market

    Source?

How come when looking at 9 series k20 pro and mi 9t pro had very similar prices and one was for China market and one for international? Why is it now suddenly different for the 10 series then?

Let’s see what Global version of Redmi K30 Pro would do, if it’s still as expensive like Mi 10 then, only a small chance Xiaomi will release cheaper flagship ever again.

Because I think Xiaomi wants to differentiate Mi and Redmi brand. With Redmi being the value brand as always, while Mi change course to premium brand.

IMO, that’s a good business decision. Why would you make two similar flagship with similar prices anyway?

They always have only 5% margin irrespective of the market. The prices depends in each market depends on the taxes they have to pay to respective govts. You cannot compare China prices and the prices in other markets, as they don’t need to give Google any licensing fee as they don’t have google services in China.

They were a “local” brand , mainly. The last few years they’ve been busy becoming a global brand, in which they’ve succeeded.

For now, I still find the most expensive Xiaomi that we get in Malaysia, are still somewhat cheaper (Or costs the same, but delivers better value) than the cheapest premium flagships from the likes of Huawei and Samsung. As I’m typing this, we currently have the Mi Note 10 Pro as the top of the line offering, I don’t think the Mi 10 is out here yet. Those are the prices for the “Mi” lineup which supposedly is more premium.
The budget Redmi lineup on the other hand, has their prices seems to have always stayed the same.
Either way, we tend to get the Xiaomi phones heavily discounted after they’re out in the market for awhile, which makes them quite a good deal if you’re willing to wait.

Of course the prices and deals will depend on your market. For our market, we got totally screwed over by the local distributors for OnePlus (The OnePlus 7 Pro, can cost as much as a Galaxy Note 10+ here. I’m not kidding.)

This 👆 only if your regions lte bands are all covered. So me for example I need B20/800mhz for Europe. The Chinese model doesn’t have this so an immediate deal breaker, not to mention, I’m just over the days of rooting and flashing my phone 😂 otherwise ide have bought one for considerably less with even better spec from trading shenzen or wonda mobile. By better specced I mean 12gb/256. Even that is more than 100 euro cheaper. Might suit US people though? Ide wait for the OnePlus offering, you’de get regular update support, atleast more regular than the Xiaomi, better OS and if they are smart enough will have seen the backlash the Xiaomi has caused across various social media platforms, not to mention the current Pandemic and adjust their pricing structure accordingly.

I don’t know why people keep bitching about price because Xiaomi keeps pumping 3 phones every week at insane price points. I think that the Redmi k30 pro will have an 865 chip so that’s the spiritual successor to the poco F1.

But Xiaomi has a great ecosystem of gadgets, it is cheap and build really well.

Honestly both times it fell from about 40cm height to the floor with glass screen protector on, im pretty sure there’s a flaw with the engendering or design. Any other smartphone would have survived thet, both times the glass didnt even cracked , the display simply started to act off and then black out

Bought my Mi 9T Pro 128GB for around RM1488 from Lazada, loving it so far! Realme X2 Pro is also a good deal in your budget range at RM 2399. Though if you’d like the OnePlus experience, the OnePlus 7 would be around RM 1789 for 8GB/256GB option. Though if you’d like the 7T, the import set is cheap at around RM 2k as compared to the Malaysian set which cost around RM 2599.

It’s a 300$ difference, Walmart and Amazon have the Mi 10 Pro at around 530$. The The OnePlus 8 Pro hovers around 850$ after taxes.

This is my another comment I had added to this question. And the source, you can check it in web as their business model is very well documented in many websites.

If you pick your phone based on this completely irrelevant bullshit, you’re a moron. There’s barely anything “cleaner” about the OP skin, nor the updates give it any better actual features or anything.

Yeah well the less made there the better. And the main profit goes to the Finnish company too.

The OnePlus pro doesn’t have dual stereo speakers. The mi 10 pro has a purpose built, matching speaker at the top for more balanced sound (the internal amplifier for headphones is also significantly better than my outgoing S9+ but I haven’t compared that feature to other flagships).

It makes a difference if you care about that sort of thing, and is easily noticable even in online comparisons. Also, some don’t need higher than 1080p and I’ll pocket the price $$$ difference from the $750 no tax or duty fees I paid importing the Mi 10 pro from China to us.

I also prefer the styling. Camera bump on the back looks more refined, white pearl color is choice, and the screen to body ratio is slightly higher (notice the chin on top, where your eyes go most of the time is slightly smaller).

    > Because I think Xiaomi wants to differentiate Mi and Redmi brand. With Redmi being the value brand as always, while Mi change course to premium brand.

If only they made a Redmi Note 9 with bands that work in the US…

IMO xiaomi had to differiniate their lineup. It became too similar and Xiaomi didn’t want to seen as a cheap company all around. So their Mi range had their price increased, and they probably preserve other lineups to the cheaper options

I’m still searching for my next poco f1 worthy upgrade. Does anyone else feel like Realme is the current budget king?
I like the price of the realme 6. Great antutu scores, 90hz screen, 30 watt fast charging, NFC, and sister company of one plus. Lowest price I’ve seen is £200 excluding import customs tax.

    Any other recommendations?

Because xiaomi has abandoned its promise to not milk other jurisdictions like Apple and friends. And I’ve bought my last xiaomi.

Xiaomi.eu doesn’t change notification behaviour – it simply removes certain China-only features and apps and integrates Google apps into the stock Chinese ROM.

I only use it because it integrates the Google apps more cleanly than is possible if Google apps are installed later on the stock ROM, plus Xiaomi.eu is easier to root. I’d be perfectly happy with the stock ROM if I didn’t need Google Play Services and the apps I’ve paid for through the Play store.

And honestly, I just don’t see any issues with the RAM management. I have no more issues with notifications on my Mi Max 3 than I did on my Nokia 7 plus running Android One. If anything, that phone had more issues with background apps being killed than MIUI 11 does, particularly because it didn’t have the ability to lock apps into memory.

Xiaomi is doing what every new brand before them did and every new brand in the future will do…..start with low price, high quality spec products and hope to grow big. The ones who make it big will eventually start to increase their prices for the same specs.

Wanted a mi 10 pro, but given that a oneplus 8 pro will probably be cheaper, while beeing better overall, even beeing a bit of a xiaomi fanboy, I cant justify the mi 10 pro.

What does the mi 10 pro have? Maybe a slightly better back camera and slightly better audio with the only bigger feature beeing 50w instead of 30w charging.

Op 8 pro has a 1440P instead of 1080P display, 120hz instead of 60hz, 12gb instead of 8gb ram, usb 3.1 instead of 2.0, ip rating, better front camera and a feature no one else has: memc chip for motion smoothing
(and I dont care what you think about it, its an option and I prefer having a smooth picture with slight artifacting here and there over a stuttery mess, where I cant make out the “clean” picture anyway unless I pause)

Given that the oppo x2 has the same cam rating and also great audio reviews, I would guess the mi 10 wont even have a better back camera and audio than a op 8 pro.

Yeah this was just bad luck bud. I’ve accidentally dropped mine a few times on the street and on hard floors as well and it’s working fine. Didn’t even damage the tempered glass protector that much. Granted I use a pretty thick rubber case, but still. Keep in mind that amoled screens are a lot more fragile and prone to damage than lcd.

This device costed me $460 when it came out and another $200 to replace the screen. I’m now using a 5 years old budget samsung until I’ll figure out what to buy

I still can’t understand why a 705 dollars in China became a 1100 dollars phone in Europe.

And, honestly, I prefer the Chinese ROM because it has less bugs.

The only xiaomi I had was the Mi Mix 2S and I had the Oneplus 7 Pro.
I simply love miui (even though I’m using a S20+).
I would go for the Mi 10 Pro over the Oneplus 8 Pro any day. Though, at that price tag, I would import the Chinese version or get the Oneplus 8 Pro.

That’s unfortunate to hear. Maybe just a QC issue? Everything I’ve read says the OnePlus has a world class display…that said, I ended up with a mi 10 pro with no uneven lighting on whites/grays (lighter areas, red/green tints, etc…)

    Loving it so far!

Poco had a flagship processor. Nothing else. Mi 10 is complete package able to compete with this years flagships.

There is huge difference between these phones.

I see many comparisons of Mi 10 with Poco here, but these are not even similar phone. Poco was sold with one aspect of flagships year it was released, every thing else on it was subpar.

In Hong Kong, the global version of mi 10 Pro (8+256gb) is USD 774, one plus 8 Pro (8+128gb) is USD 1031.

That’s a difference of USD 257, Mi 10 Pro is the way to go and I bought it the minute it came out.

Almost hard to believe when Xiaomi entered the international market for cheap flagships with the Poco they were making something like $20 profit on each phone they sold, more like $200+ now.

Most of PCBs are made in China anyway. It’s dumb trying to find something not “made in China”. Because it’s extremely rare for products to be made in one country only, like every part… At best it’s assembled in one country and that’s enough for them to put the made in X instead. But there are parts from all over the world in it.

If you pick your phone based on this completely irrelevant bullshit, you’re a moron. There’s nothing “cleaner” about the OP skin, nor the updates give it any better actual features or whatever.

It’s like the poco f1 was the last budget flagship killer with an accessible price point. I hope the f1 concept will be replicated in the near future again whether by Xiaomi or someone else.

Source are many, there has been multiple interviews given by their Global VP Mr. Manu Kumar Jain. Also have had talk about this to him personally too. I’m from India and the prices for Mi 10 series are TBA here. Also I really don’t have any idea how the taxes work in EU. Whereas I can say about India. The finished products have much higher taxes than the parts, hence the prices of Apple products have been immense in India for eg. when iphone X was launched it was approx. 1400 USD, by direct conversation, here in India. The prices for Xiaomi phones were still higher when compared to China when they didn’t have any factories here India, once they started manufacturing here in India the prices started to be on similar range of China.
We are expecting the prices of Mi 10 series to be 10 – 20% higher than that of China as there was a 50% increase on the taxes here in India.

Thale sad thing is that the S20 and mate 30 or iPhone 11 are all even more expensive. I hope that they realise that most people don’t buy 1000€ + phones. I will buy my next phone from whoever has the best value, I don’t care if it’s Xiaomi Vivo oppo honor or someone else.

Yes, this is the thing. At the lower price end it made sense to lose a little in the software. I have the mi 9 and when I got that it was a shock to the system coming from stock android.

With handsets being so similar these days it ultimately comes down to software and that is something they are definitely behind on

    Mi 10 China 4000 Yuan or $560USD

    Mi 10 Global $820USD

I’ll say again they are making at least $200+ profit on the global market regardless how good the hardware is.

The OnePlus is probably gonna be priced the same as the Xiaomi (800 for OP8 and 999 for OP8 Pro)

The Realme X50 Pro has the same CPU as those but only 599€ so it’s the cheapest S865 for now (I guess the K30 Pro will be a bit lower when it will release)

You talk like Xiaomi makes all their stuff expensive now. What about the world’s cheapest 5g phones? Both are Xiaomi, and one even came out together with the mi 10.

So while Xiaomis prices do go up, it’s not Apple yet. Only the mi 10 is an oddball. We’ll have to wait for a few more models that are over expensive before we can spout stuff like that.
