And if you try without the fullscreens gesture mode. The mode with the 3 keys (home, back, recent app). Because I have the same problem with google maps.

The screen where i tried is empty
1. Enable developer mode
2. Allow USB debug
3. Connect to your PC
4. Get the log containing the exact full issue with adb.exe

AFAIK, That’s the only way to figure out what’s the real problem – what’s the root cause.
I found the solution, you have to put the fingerprint lock inside WhatsApp in privacy settings, then you can add the widget and then remove the lock if you want, it happened to me and I was able to put it now, hope this works for everyone else!

I had the same problem when utilizing Poco launcher. When I uninstalled and came back to the system launcher (Global Miui 11.0.6), it worked perfectly.
I have to use it to contact my friends, but I also use Telegram for all the rest
