Isn’t this a bug in the launcher itself? Either try to update it or try switching to poco launcher for example

check in settings whatsapp permissions and alllow display over other apps
I had the same problem when utilizing Poco launcher. When I uninstalled and came back to the system launcher (Global Miui 11.0.6), it worked perfectly.
Check to see if you have enough space on your home screen……

I found the solution, you have to put the fingerprint lock inside WhatsApp in privacy settings, then you can add the widget and then remove the lock if you want, it happened to me and I was able to put it now, hope this works for everyone else!

And if you try without the fullscreens gesture mode. The mode with the 3 keys (home, back, recent app). Because I have the same problem with google maps.
