Mine is 32 that’s insane !
I finally found the solution….
Turn off the Ram Memory Extension(+1GB)
I have finally found the solution !
Go to **Internal shared storage\\MIUI\\Gallery\\cloud** and delete the **.trashbin** folder.
This folder takes a local backup of photos and videos. And in order to permanently fix this, disconnect the MI account from the phone after deleting the .trashbin folder.
Note that this folder is only accessible through a PC.
Please Vote my comment up, If your problem is solved.
I came here via google, Jesus Christ Telegram was using 111GB on my phone
Same on my redmi note 8 pro , miui 12.0.5 ,
24gb of others, can’t find in storage analyser, and disk usage
I finally figured out
It’s trash!!!!!
Delete your trash in Google photos , gallery and file manager! For me, it was reduced from 130 gigs to 2 gigs
My “Others” is around 40:GB (39.19 GB)
Poco F3 128 GB MIUI 12.5.2
I don’t know what’s going on. I’ll look into it this weekend.
I’ve 40GO out of 52 available…
My “other” storage section is curently around 9GB. What cought my eye is that when I used the “download latest package” option in the update section, the “Other” part decresed with about 3 GB in favour of the “Documents” section. That gave me the idea that maybe MIUI is not deleting older system update files and displays them as Other.
When you make your files private it goes to others section
Mine is 12.26gb on my 1month old mi 10t lite
“other” sent to China and supports the Communist Party of China :))))
Ascii-art porn
13GB
Mi 10T Pro
MIUI 12.1.2
It could be backups
That would count to the video category
Get diskusage and see for yourself
Heeeey, just finally decided to clean my phone today and did. From go to file manager and select show hidden files, it’s these folders starting with a dot in the beginning of their names, these two big fishes named (dot)photorecoverytemp and video recovery temp muclst be taking a shit load of space, they are deleted pics and vids and all pics are in png format(no, not the ones from Recycle bin, I found some old pics that i deleted from recycle bin itself in there). It lightened my phone up a lot from a 13 GB to an 8 GB on others section. That’s still a big chunk left but I am tired to scan for more, if you have the time and energy just search while enabling show hidden folders feature throughout file manager.
The others section usually refers to any files that we store in our phone that can’t be read by the system, for example, a rom, or any other unreadable file. This space is strictly under your explicit control, ie, you can manage to almost entirely zero out the others part, unlike the space occupied by system files or the space occupied by android folder(although modifiable, shouldn’t be messed with explicitly) . For me, until a two months ago or so, the others would occupy a 1 or 2 gb,that is my game cube Roms taking up the space, they add up to the entirety but now some cache or other shit took over all this space and I’m still trying to find what occupied the remaining 8 gigs.
i meant some of them.
Definitely not
It’s anything which doesn’t fit in the other categories, which can be quite a lot of stuff.
Especially games which require you to allow them to access files and then start downloading packets of data after the install. Those games will download game data separately and store it somewhere. Such data is usually compressed in specific formats which don’t fit in any of those categories.
Browser cache is another example. Anything cached that isn’t in those categories will be put in other (html, css, js files and so on)
undetected/unusable files
I don’t even Have Telegram
Cache won’t clear
You have to open the telegram app, look through its settings for storage usage
You’re welcome.
It could be emails you may be useing POP3 instead of IMAP
* POP3 stores the email that are on the mail server on your device for easy acces
* IMAP just shows you what is on the mail server and doesn’t keep anything on your device (apart from cache ofc)
Thanks!
Hey any of you guys know when the 3rd batch will update into miui12?
U only think about urself
I didn’t asked anything but ok
maybe background apps? also, I keep hearing about russian tech in samsung phones that isn’t deletable, so I’d be careful if I were you. There’s a reason huawei is banned in america.
Cache memory?
Yeah, i miss it too. But, if you go to the file manager and look for the MIUI folder, just delete it. This is basically what we did before in the old MIUI.
My other was around 110GB, try checking how large are your backups and caches. These two took most of the 110gigs.
My other is only 6.42GB. The other part is basically anything that doesn’t fit into one of the category.
Running MIUI 12.0.4 EU and rooted with magisk.
I have been checking since last month.
Hopefully updates arrive coz I just bought this phone 2 months ago
For my case, other can be leftover files from games. Download storage analyser. Open and go to file categories. Then expand the others tab. Press the ‘0’ Files. Select all and delete. Will take a while but worth it
I mean I checked for updates but it says that im up to date
I running MIUI 12.0.3 Global
Thanks m8!
Have the same phone as you btw
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max 64gb/6gb, India
go to subreddit home page, and select the use flair option and their will be an option to select your own flair
How to add the flair to your profile name?
Like you have the phone name
Mine is about 7.5GB
Use “DiskUsage” app.
I will tell what it is: It’s Pornhub caches!!!
i wondered the same.
Storage scam done by many phone companies. Had this happen to me a lot, fresh out the box and half the storage is “other”. Used a disk analyser, Not even system files.
Cache != Archives
10GB of videos :0.Man you really need an SD card
Open the phone settings.
Go to the Applications section.
Select the required app.
Open the Storage section.
Press the Clear cache button.
Sd maid and files by Google
How to clear these “other” cache files if really they are cache files?
i didnt face that problem cuz my photos and files are backed up and imported to cloud
You can use SDMaid to check what uses your storage
How? I cleared my Telegram cache in the app settings already. Also there is nothing when I manually check for in the Telegram folder through file manager either.
i have 60gb other files and i know its cache from video telegram and other apps
I ended up downloading an app called Storage analyzer (3 mb) and from there I could visualize the “Other” files (some videos that are uploaded to my cloud) and then I deleted them.
its because most of the time it deleted useful files. (to me it usually deleted some files in android\\obb (and \\data)”Other” means undefined files… just files that dont belong to other categories or files that miui have trouble to recognize (so it can be even photos etc.)
BTW you can set the Telegram cache from “keep nothing” to “keep everything”.
I miss the old miui.. because in the old version you can click on that and clear it. Now i need to manually delete data files and cache
Telegram archives
Cache files
Idk, cache files?
