Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm still thinking about it. Not only do Xiaomi phones have a lot of bug, knowing that I support a Chinese business that may sell my data to China is also not a good idea.

But I don’t know. They’re cheap for their specs. And that’s what made me buy a Xiaomi phone.

Yes because they have they still have the best value but I’ll make sure to buy one with good development in case I don’t like MIUI

Yes, I see no reason to spend $1000 on a phone. Hope they will make more devices with Android One.

I have the same thought. I was actually planning to buy the Samsung A50s last June and I found out that it still cost more than a brand new 2020 mid range phone.

$1000 is too much for a phone considering that phones depreciates faster than anything.

I used to own a Xiaomi (Redmi 5 Plus) but its battery was fried after about 2 years of usage. I just bought a Samsung A31 earlier this month which I purchased due to it being within my budget (I’m close to broke) and the big reputation of the brand, even though people have warned me a few times about how mediocre Samsung’s mid range A series lineup is (outside of the A71)

This phone isn’t bad per se (its specs are most definitely an upgrade over the Redmi 5 Plus, and OneUI is pretty neat) but I kind of regret it because after making the purchase I looked up the Redmi Note 9 Pro and saw that it has the exact same specs as the A31 and selling for about the same price but it has a vastly superior processor and camera.

Edit: I should also add that the A31 is the only phone in Samsung’s A series lineup with all 3 of a 5000mAh battery, an AMOLED screen and 6/128gigs of ram/storage. That was ultimately what sold me on the phone

I was using Samsung since the first time I ever had a smartphone and I agree to that. But the Xiaomi specs and price just made me try a different brand.

Hard to say what the cell phone scene will be. I’m rocking the Redmi Note 7 Pro with a custom ROM. Best of both worlds. If in a year or two a similar beefed up device from Xiaomi is available, definitely.

Dude, Samsung A31 is a good phone and even with the price way costly than RN9pro, I’m telling you, you’ll thank yourself later. I used to own Samsung J7 2016 since it came available and It’s still good, no lagging, camera quality still good. Samsung phones are known for their long term performance.

What phone are U using now? And it isn’t a lot more costly than the RN9Pro. The 6/128 GB variant of both phones are selling for about 350 dollars where I am (Australia).

Used Xiaomi phones for years. Once I switched away from these phones, I haven’t missed them one bit. Not only does MIUI suck a lot, but those ads, those shitty Xiaomi apps they shove down everyone’s throats. Fuck that noise.

    Never again.

Yep, I’ve owned the Redmi Note 3 Pro, Note 5, Mi 9 Lite, and now the Poco X3 NFC.

As long as Xiaomi and it’s sub-brands are putting out phones that are amazing value for money with bands that support my country, I will keep buying them.

If You are interested only in battery go for something else, the camera is bad and is not worth it, go for mi10t lite which is far better.

Definitely, I’m planning on upgrading from my mi 8 pro explorer to another xiaomi device. Still looking out for a new one which still has both in screen fingerprint scanner and face unlock. The note 10 looked promising but I’m gonna wait for the latest and greatest if I’m getting a new phone.

I recently got a ~~Mi 8~~ Mi 10 and I love it, but not a fan of the software.

I will probably install a new ROM if possible when there’s a stable one available (never did it before). If they improve the software I will probably keep buying them. Also, let’s see how durable it is first, I hope I will manage to keep it for at least 3 years.

    Edit: I’m dumb and I wrote Mi 8 instead of 10. I have a Mi 10.

Probably not, we are waiting a lot for miui 12, and in my experience I’m always having problems with all of Xiaomi that I have.

Right now I have Redmi note 8, and the camera is not good, sometimes the mobile freeze and more…

For example in the past I had a redmi note 4, with a problem of videos, the sound was so bad recording videos, but pictures was great at least and for me was sufficient

Owning Mi 9T since almost a year now. Best phone I ever had by very far. In every aspect. Cost considerably less than any other phone I ever had.

    So yes absolutely!

Xiaomi provides the best hardware/price ratio but their UI is a joke. As long as there still is an active development community for xiaomi devices and custom are roms being released and updated, xiaomi will still be my #1. If I had a higher budget I’d go for OnePlus or Pixel phones without a second thought but right now, Xiaomi is dominating the budget market.

A31 does not have the same specs as the Redmi Note 9 Pro lol. The Note 9 Pro SD 720G is vastly superior in all areas performance wise.

A31 doesn’t even have UFS storage. Uses emmc. A31 is slower than the Redmi 9 (£100 phone) let alone any of the Notes.

HOWEVER the A31 has an OLED display. So ultimately I’d still pick it over the Redmi.

i wouldn’t necessarily. i just bought my Redmi Note 8 Pro in september this year, which, for an android phone seems really odd, but the reason was just that the Note 9 and Note 9 Pro just weren’t that attractive as a buy. i just felt they weren’t such some good price-perfomance-desing ratio as the note 8 pro.
mine works just fine. it has android 10 and probably won’t get another update in its lifetime, and i think its totally fine. i used a $200 huawei phone before that for the past 4 years l. it still had android 6 and i just wasn’t complaining. it had all the app updates the newer ones had and it worked ok for me. regardless, my point is that i dont think my note 8 pro will lack on me for the next 3 years or even more. if xiaomi will make such great affordable phones maybe i will consider them again

Well that would depend on the phones in the future. I’m gonna wait a few more years before upgrading from my Redmi Note 9 Pro. I guess if I would choose a Xiaomi Phone, I’ll make sure it’s a Mi T or a Poco F series next time instead of any Redmi and make sure it has a Chinese Variant so I don’t get screwed in updates. Asus and Xiaomi are the only bang for the buck brands here in my country. Oppo isn’t an option either for me, they’re more focused on Camera and less of the internals for the budget I’m gonna buy with. Lenovo is gone and only available in the three big cities, they were my first option before I had a Redmi 5. Nokia is gone too after their last release of phones that we’re too expensive for their specs. Iphone is definitely not an option I’m willing to go although I did own one before, they’re definitely not worth the price. Realme got expensive real quick, they used to rival Xiaomi in Midrange prices but if they slashed their prices, I’d consider them. Samsung is still real expensive and still refuses to release any Snapdragon phones in our area. LG & Vivo is expensive here too. Huawei was good too but the hassle of installing Google Playstore & other related apps isn’t worth it. I prioritize CPU & GPU, RAM is a given, for the camera, a 64MP main cam will do, an AMOLED display would be nice but optional

Look I don’t want to burst your bubble and be an asshole and I’m glad that you enjoyed your phone, but Samsung is actually known for the COMPLETE opposite.
Like even their fast flagships getting all super slow and laggy after a year or two. They might have gotten better, but it’s still their reputation pretty much.

With that said, the person you answered to should be happy, cheaper phones ARE getting better and better!

I love the product itself but the company and the Chinese state body that it is involuntarily tied to is something I have no interest in. I’d prefer to spend 600-700$ for a Japanese (e.g sony), taiwanese or a south korean made device over anything from mainland. My 5x is a beast and I will use and abuse it until it dies. A very nice device indeed but I’m lucky to be in a developed country so I can spare to save a littler longer to pay for something that comes from another nation that holds similar values.

Think, factory workers conditions, political system in china, human rights violation, funding a country that is making invalid territory claims.

Xiaomi 3, Redmi note 3, Xiaomi Note Pro, Xiaomi A1, Xiaomi Mix 3, Xiaomi 9T, Poco X3

My side phone is the iPhone 11 Pro, I spend on average 5x more time on my Xiaomi than my iPhone.

Yes in the past MIUI frustrates me sometimes when I try to tamper with it (flashing and stuff), for the build quality, specs, and price you can’t really find anything equivalent. MIUI isn’t too shabby and comes with some neat features, Android One is even better. Plus sometimes they put out cool phones like the Mix 3 that is one of a kind and I absolutely love these phones. The Mix 3 has been my main driver for over a year now. Ofc it has bloat and stuff i just debloat it and its good to go. The ads are easy to disable as well so they never appear.

I have used Samsung, Asus, Realme, Oneplus, Apple and no Android phone really comes close to the package that Xiaomi offers at their low prices. Oneplus is close but still quite expensive. Apple is in their own world ofc.

Overall it has decent specs, decent rom at a really good price. I’ll keep buying whatever they have to offer.

Would avoid Xiaomi. Have a F2 Pro that’s a few days old and the fingerprint reader is slow, sometimes doesn’t even register my fingerprint so sometimes have to press 3-4 times. And MIUI is quite buggy in my experience.

High cost performance, if it can improve the signal, I might still buy it.

Actually no. I’m steering back to iphones.

I’ve had mi 9t for almost a year now. So hardware vise this is hands down the best i’ve ever had. But when it comes to software the small things pop up for me. Just the ease of use and optimization of the iphones is a thing that makes me want to come back.

The cost is obviously the biggest advantage with Xiaomi and that is still why I’m hesitant to buy an iphone.

100% would buy Xiaomi as my next phone.

Had a Redmi 5 plus but it’s screen broke because a friend kicked it out of my hand by accident. Bought a Mi 9t after a few months (I had the Redmi 5 plus for about a year and a half) and it’s great. My next phone will likely be a Xiaomi again.

Yeah. Turn off personalization, msa settings. There are miui debloater tools to remove system apps that help a lot. And then the mre is the option to install a custom rom like Pixel Experience.

I bought a redmi note 8 in april, and I’m really disappointed.

The screen scratched really easily, it already started with the screen retention, and a few weeks ago I changed my internet plan, went from 15 Mbps to 200Mbps and I couldn’t get the full speed of the network, unless I turn off Bluetooth, seriously???

As others have said, Samsung, Motorola and LG have phones in the same price range, with a few trade offs (camera, processor…), I for instance could have gotten a Motorola G8, pretty much same specs, with a slightly worse camera, and only a 720P screen, but the same price and a year of warranty, I think a choose wrong.

Also, my last phone was a J7 2016, that lasted almost three years, and the battery was still giving me 8 hours screen time. On the note 8 I don’t get even 7.

I had the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and although it was a decent phone, I would not buy a Xiaomi phone again. Reason being that it did not have all of the LTE bands needed for the US and I was not getting the strongest signal (relying on Band 4) and also the way Android One was handled was not great either. I switched to a Moto G7 Power and have been happy ever since. It runs near stock android with a 5000mah battery and gets the job done until a newer device comes out when this one is almost done

I ve had both the note 8 pro and the 9 pro and I think the 9 looks way better in my opinion mostly because of the bigger secreen and another reason I switched is because it’s newer seems like it dosen’t matter to xiaomi since the 9 pro haven’t got the MUIUI 12 while the 8 pro did

First my phone from Xiaomi was Redmi note 4X, and it works great. After a year i changed to Redmi 5+, and after one month MB died. 5+ was returned to store by warrant, but in store thay said “Telephone broke by bad usage and repair will cost 50% of new phone”. After that i switched to LG G6, but after a few weeks I noticed some disadvantages as: up to 90C on SOC, low battery life (by lot of power consuming soc SD821) and bugged os (know as SlowUI). Finnaly on May that year I bought Mi9t Pro and I as glad as using rn4x. I’m using Mi9 until today with great experience.

sorry for my english, im from poland :c

    No.
    Only because of MIUI
It has some dumb bugs and some things removed and it just adds up, I don’t like the look of it, and the fact that phone shows ads (not in all regions and yes I know it can be disabled but regardless), what would they lose if they used vanilla android?

I know you can use custom roms but in my experience they all have some bugs or some kind of instability and I don’t need that.

yes, before I used to have a samsung note 2 then switch to redmi note 3. best decision ever. after using it for 3 yrs decided to buy redmi 5 plus. still have it without any issues. my note 3 died on its 4th yr maybe because it was my gaming phone for ragnarok mobile which is open while charging for almost 24/7. been thinking about the poco x3 or note 10 for my next phone.

After owning an A1 and Mix 3, I probably will never buy a phone from Xiaomi again. Their software support is ridiculous. To all the people recommending Custom ROMs it’s fine if you don’t have to t rely on safety net but I do and I don’t have the tickle around. For me MIUI is to laggy to much of a compromise, battery drain problem, problems with Banking apps. MIUI or Android one both sucked on Xiaomi devices.

Now I am happy with my Nord, user experience is as expected.

Anything under 15k – 20k in India I will always prefer Xiaomi over other brands.

Give a great bang for buck for that price.

Yes. Incredible value, specs where they matter, an active ROM development community, easy phones to repair, and really nice company to work with overall.

So I’m on my 2nd Xiaomi phone and I’ve not encountered this apps phenomenon at all. I use a different texting app and I never started up anything, as far as I can tell, that allowed ads. Did I magically skip a step that everyone else hasn’t? This isn’t the first response that’s talked about ads

As far as MIUI, I’m honestly indifferent right now. I have not looked at using other ROMs or whatnot but adding the app drawer helped a ton imo to stock MIUI. It doesn’t seem as aggravating as Samsungs software/bloatware either for me. I can barely stand my wife’s phone.

My mi 9t is the best phone ive ever owned. I always had the flagships. Treo 650, Evo, Samsung series.

The last 1100 or w e phone I had was the S7. The s7 which would die by 5pm. The s7 that got so hot when driving, using gps and fueling my music, I had a glass of water to put it in to cool it down.

When my carrier and samsung didnt give a damn and I was on the hook for x more months to pay for this pos I said no more.

Got a Samsung J something. Cheapest one they had. $150. Battery lasted for days. No lie. Then I got a cheap LG, also decent.

ATT guy said ‘you have to get the mi9t, have to!’

    Read about it.

    Love it. Love love it.

Love that the camera recedes so I know no one is hacking into that camera.

Love that I fell full force on to my phone. My butt, with phone in back pocket, landed square on some stairs. Bent the phone.

Screen? Fine. Back was cracked but I replaced that. That was over a year ago.

Dropped it 18+ times. Still fine.

    Glitches? Whats that?

It froze up on me I think once in the past year. And I think it was some funky app that did that.

Sure I kill tasks with its built in task killer. But just for fun and to watch the little rocket go up.

    Zoom calls? perfect.

Love this phone. I do hope if I need another one xiaomi continues to use retractable lenses.

Also battery life? Great. It lasts a full day. When I got to bed I have about 15% or more. Often more. I forget to charge it b/c it lasts so long.

    Probably not.
Since 2011 I was using only HTCs, in July 2019 got a Mi9T because my HTC 10 GPS died. The phone got everything right for me (price, size, no notch, camera, SoC) and the HW was great (and still is)! But the software…

    1. the battery life just went to trash after MIUI 12. I factory reset the phone, debloated and have max 4hrs of SoT now, it was 8-9 on MIUI 10 and 11. I know the battery degrades, but not this much. Android system has always more than 25% consumption. I rooted all my phones since 2011 and just got old and don’t care about it, I want it to work straight from the box
    2. I am quite tech savvy (smartphone user since Symbian 9.1, Nokia E50), but just to get for example Strava working, I had to google how to turn off all the MIUI battery optimalizations that were killing it
    3. My friend has a Redmi Note 7 since June 2019, the phone flied on MIUI 10, but now on 11 it lags when moving in the menu. No gaming, no heavy apps installed. Sceen is starting to get yellow. I am really thinking about the possibility Xiaomi is slowing down thier old low end phones on purpose with updates
    4. 3-4 months behind security updates, but I guess this is on the better side of Android manufacturers

Mi9T is still great (appart the battery life) and hope it will serve at least 2 years, so no idea what will be my next phone.
Sony has some great phones now. But we will see what the future brings.

I’m no loyal to brand, i’m loyal to products.

I love my 9T, when i change for another, i will find the best “bang for your buck” phone at that time, with no brand in mind.

for example, Asus zenfone 7 pro looks amazing. with a good price, perhaps i would buy this one instead of my 9T if needed a new phone today.

    tomorrow maybe another one…

Without doubt, my first Xiaomi phone (Redmi Note 4X) didn’t let me down, I got a new one because I smashed the screen and it was just getting old. It still works, I wasn’t bothered to get a new screen, because I was sure I was getting a new phone soon enough anyways. I installed some new OS on it, still runs well, I just don’t use it. Anyways, after that, I bought a Poco F1, which I still have till this day, hasn’t broke yet on me. Installed Pixel Experience after awhile, it still works really well, performs well. I am planning on changing the battery or getting someone to do it, and to use the phone for few more years probably. I have had good experiences with Xiaomi so far, some stuff of course wasn’t pleasant, but other than that everything has been going on well, so definetly.

The next time I change my phone, it would be a flagship instead of another mid-range, and there are better options in that market than Xiaomi (Samsung and LG are really good balanced flagships). If I couldn’t a flagship, then yes, I would go for another Xiaomi, albeit their latest mid-range models (Redmi Note mainly) are getting worse. A Pixel A would be a good option too.

I only had three smartphones: Lumia 535 (RIP Windows Phone), Blu Vivo 5 (good hardware (AMOLED in a mid-range phone :O), terrible software) and actually a Redmi Note 5.

While the performance and phones are really good for the price, I will ultimately not purchase a Xiaomi for my next phone. Google has been releasing really good budget-midrange phones, however if you’re outside the US the price and availability may differ

I think it depends on the smartphone landscape once I’m buying my next phone. I currently have had a redmi note 8 pro for about a year, and plan on keeping it for atleast another 1-2 years. Currently on my list for next phone would be: 90hz oled screen, under screen fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, no notch/holepunch. Wireless charging and ingress protection are nice but not needed, and in terms of price preferebly not higher than 300. If Xiaomi delivers that then I’d probably go for them again unless a competitior has a better phone.

I grabbed the mi8 2 years ago, amazing value at the time for flagship specs. Like holy shit, $350 for a Snapdragon 845 experience being sold by competitors for $1000+?? yes pls.

However I have a lot of issues with miui, polish is not up to standards set by other os skins. battery power management screws with a bunch of apps, advertisements, bloat.

Biggest factor is band support in US. tmobile network works great in my area but phone is missing bands that help give network inside buildings. And with superior US options like galaxy s20 fe releasing for $600 and under the value proposition is no longer in xiaomi’s favor.

I am moving on, but will consider xiaomi again when they decide to release real US band support in their phone line.

No, I wouldn’t. The phones’s prices are higher and software is worse with every update. Also their update system works like a roulette. Redmi Note 7 gets MIUI 12, but Mi 8 still nothing. Few years ago Xioami’s smartphones were great but now they only look good on a paper. Software destroys everything.

I vowed never to buy Xiaomi again after the A2 Lite fiasco. Considered iPhone. Then got put off by Apple’s greedy tactics with developers, the scam that was the iPhone SE, how their advertised $$$ was way more in my country than in US of A, etc. etc. Waited for Samsung and OnePlus, too. Then Poco X3 came along, and I gave Xiaomi a second chance.

I have a Mi 8. It’s a great phone but I’m looking for One Plus or maybe yeah, a Mi 10 or something. I’ve used Huawei and they’re shit.

    I bought a Mi A2 Lite on 2017 or 2018. Just upgraded to a Black Shark 2 (non-pro).

Considering how over expensive cellphones are, I would definitely choose Xiaomi again.

Honestly i buy xiaomi only because they offer good value phones. But i always miss some features. If i could id buy pixel for that sweet camera performance and stock android. But since pixels aren’t that common here. My next phone would either be xiaomi, or oneplus

I was curious about Oneplus Nord but their definition of “budget phone” wildly differs from my own. Considering I live in a country with average wage of like 400$ (down from 500$ due to corona recession&devaluation). Got K30 5G for 250$ instead of Nord for like 450$, didn’t regret it.

I had a Mi 9 that I bricked out of stupidity. The phone was good for the price.

I thought of buying a Mi 10. Then I saw the price of round about 600 €.

So I decided to pay a little but more and switched to a Samsung galaxy S20. Water proof, less bloat ware, hopefully not calling my data home and three years of mayor releases sold it to me.

Long story short: the middle/upper class of Xiaomi isn’t as cheap as it was anymore. So switched to Samsung.

i went to a shop in 2017 & got the cheapest device they had ( 2gbram/16gb redmi 4x) i didn’t expect to use it for more than 3 months, but I’m still using it.

only issues are the lack of internal storage, the camera is bad. so I can trust this brand

I might get the poco x3 or the note 9 pro next

I’m not sure, I have a Mi 9, and it’s excellent so far, but for my next phone I’m tempted by an iPhone that would last upwards of 5 years, instead of it already slowing down after a bit more than a year like the Xiaomi.
MIUI looks nice and is fun to play with, but just too unpredictable and let’s me down in the worst moments.
If I were to stick to android thought, it would be 100% a Xiaomi.

The OS itself is bloat and spyware. You can remove FB apps but many other apps are useless and aren’t removable and still collect your data.

After i had all sorts of problems with my iphone se, i bought a redmi note 9 pro and all i can say is that i regret buying the iphone. All great but i can see some dust under the main camera (common issue and doesn’t seem to affect picture quality yet). As about the software, I will switch to pixel experience as soon as possible. I would choose xiaomi again all day.

    I would say yes.

    I’ve owned:
    Mi max 2
    Mi max 3
    Poco F1
    Mi8
    Mi9T
    Redmi Note 9 Pro
    Poco X3 NFC

Prior to that was a Nexus guy. But the amount of bugs in google Nexus phones led me to switch. Also it wasn’t just the amount, but rather Google’s glacial pace at which they fixed bugs that killed it for me.

I have a mi mix 2s for nearly 2 years now. I love this phone so much.

I just saw the 10T Pro and I wanna know if I can buy this for use here in the states. Don’t care about 5G as I don’t even pay for it with Cricket Wireless (ATT). Xiaomi’s miUI is actually, really amazing. I am in love with it. I don’t think it’s bad at all. After years of using different companies (LG/Sony/Samsung/Nexus/Pixel) this type of Android just feels nice to me. I have never had any compliments with it.

So yes, when I shop for a new phone again. It’ll be my first choice definitely.

This js one of the biggest bs-s I’ve heard, name an app that can’t be removed after 5 min with ADB?It’s not that hard if you care so much about your identity, but honestly it’s not really gonna make a big difference, also why are using reddit if you’re so conserned about spyware?

Sony Xperia 5II and 1II are way way too good for the price

Love MIUI if I’m being honest. I just want a nice looking phone, with no curved display, AMOLED, flagship processor and good camera. Also not a fan of front camera cutouts

So pixels don’t have Android One? Really?

Sony phones don’t have stock Google apps and get Android 11 upon the launch of the 5II globally (exactly like an Android One phone) and only has like 3 3rd party apps and their 2 apps?

Ok buddy. If you never had an Android One phone, you’ll never understand the joy of having features that other launchers are limiting. miui is far from the best. It’s good but definitely not the best(best = as close to stock)

Correct, Pixels don’t have Android One. Nor do Sony.

Android One is a specific program. They either have it or they don’t. They don’t.

No idea wtf you are bringing up how good it is for as if anybody asked

My Mi9 is still going really strong, so I’m gonna hold out until there’s a real improvement. Maybe a mi12 if that ever happens.

I’ve seen some users here complain that Xiaomi A line doesn’t receive updates not nearly as quickly as Pixel or Oneplus. Not sure how much of that is true.

honestly it depends on my budget and what phone its the “best mid range value per performance” on that time; and probably ending picking a xiaomi if its the winner or a close competitor

Not anymore. I’ve had a Redmi Note 4x, a Mi Note 3 and now a Mi Note 10. This last one, which I like, is a bit too heavy for my liking, camera software is horrible for such a great hardware and there are no softwares updates… I feel this model has been neglected. My next phone will definitely not be from a Chinese brand due to privacy. I’d rather go for a pixel, maybe a Sony or a Samsung next time around.

There are reports about MIUI 12 eating battery because it is very resource-heavy. That isn’t about apps, it’s about the system itself.

unfortunately, unless I go with the 8 series, xiaomi doesn’t have what I’m looking for.

    I’m considering other brands now…

What do you mean it may sell? It’s required by law to just give the data to the government due to esponage and national security laws of China. There is no selling.

Good luck with SafetyNet. I’ve tried custom roms on Mi 8 and Mi 9. Both of mine were with hardware attestation, making it impossible to using NFC and banking apps.

Unfortunately the Samsung or sony handsets are most likely built in China as well.
And the xiaomi use a lot Japanese / Korean components.
Guess only the design and brands are truly unique.

I’m heading back to Xiaomi, a bit wary but well I still have my Redmi 4x with custom rom (because idiot me got in a pool with the phone in a pocket, still survived), ended up being a backup phone (the one I’m currently using, upgraded to a A30 had some issues with it and died off randomly just after a year of use.

I’ve my sights for a Poco x3, tho as for me being a bit wary is due to the comments I’ve been reading here and other places while doing research on the Poco x3, note 9 Pro and mi 10.

redmi note 9 pro is my first phone and i am 50/50 on it. It does have a good camera and i can indeed play games decently once in a while but to be completely honest it does have quite a few things that i do not like at all. apart from little things like a bug here and there etc, the battery life is the most disappointing thing for me. If i play a game for 1 hour the battery goes down 25-30% and i don’t mean cod or pubg, simpler games.

To compare it, my previous phone was a samsung j5 i got back in 2016 and i can say with 100% honesty that i miss that phone (i still have it and in almost perfect condition, i just can’t have the apps i want in it). The only thing that i am actually enjoying on note 9 pro is the camera quality.

So, would i get another phone from xiaomi? Probably yes but i would have to do better research on how the phone actually is after waiting for at least 3 months.

Why would the chinese goverment be interested in you?

I know people are afraid of these things but it just sounds bullshit to me. Probably all your wifi devices are connected to china as huawei owns a lot of wifi and data towers. So it doesnt matter what you have your information ends up there. And than still what do they want to do with it? Give you ads for things you like? Thats a good thing imo.

My Mi8 has been the most robust phone I’ve owned (most other had hardware issues before 2 years), and still works great.

I’d definitely get another Xaiomi. Got my partner one when they needed a new phone.

I’m sorry I believe that it was mentioned about the spyware and bloatware of the operating system that you were having a problem with so I was simply asking if perhaps it was your regional settings but since you say your EU installing custom ROMs on a device will inevitably have issues including battery issues or it could be an older device that you’re using or perhaps installing the MIUI 12 on a device that has yet to be released as stable global version. Come to think of it I believe the the device that you use doesn’t even have MIUI 12 nor will it get access to MIUI 12 because of it being an older device so you’re just going off here say then and not actual experience? And a lot of devices that are over a year old now don’t even have the global version of MIUI available so unless it was the Chinese version or a custom rom EU version that isn’t even supported by the manufacturer it kind of can’t complain.

Sony is a fucking joke Soorry
What do you get with a pixel phone you get the Google security that it provides to all of its stock phones that it sells for example if you’re using a xiaomi you are accessing Google and you do get somewhat of the protection with the Google Play store don’t get me wrong but on top of it you get much more when it’s supporting its stock devices the service is from Google and xiaomi would be Android which runs Google outside of China which is still better than side loading the Google Play store from a non-authenticated location but that’s all you get with a pixel phone dual SIM card nope expandable storage nope a good price nope all you get is a mediocre phone which don’t get me wrong security wise is the only thing it’s got going for it in my opinion.

Nope. I’d go for OnePlus. I’m fed up with MIUI 12 bugs on the Mi9.

    Mi9 owner.
I’d by again, if the price was right.

    Basically the only things I want to upgrade;
    90+hz, larger screen
    Bigger battery

I recently got the POCO X3 as a temporary phone after being unsatisfied with some new flagships. I was pleasantly surprised with MIUI and immediately wanted to try a Xiaomi phone in combination with a killer chipset. I was (and still am) close to buying the Mi 10T Pro but I might wait and see what gets released by Xiaomi first. I notice the 732G can’t keep up with either the OS or the 120hz.

I’ve only had the phone for a week or so, so in don’t know any better than MIUI 12. But I love it and want my next phone to be Xiaomi as well because of it.

I love my MI 9 SE but they haven’t released an SE model in the new range. I’m a big fan of one handed compact phones. If they do release a newer model then I would 💯 stick with Xiaomi.

No, unless they do changes on their software.

I realised Samsung has a more polished software. They have good features like routines, smart lock, tap to show AOD, smart stay, to name a few that I miss on my Mi 10 pro.

Not really, if you consider an iphone se for like 500$ it’s double the price of xiaomi BUT an iPhone will run for more than 5 years very smooth and might live like 7 years so it’s actually cheaper than buying a xiaomi phone every 2 years

Coincidentally, I just bought my phone (Note 8 Pro) exactly 1 year ago. The only problems I’m having is the bloatware and ads. I also hate the fact that I can’t open links without my phone asking me everytime to “Which browser I want?” and I can’t make Chrome my default Browser. Another problem I have is for some dumb reason, I keep having “Error images” in my Facebook messenger. If I delete an image, FB Messenger still keeps the file but it’s now a corrupted file. :/ So honestly, No I wouldn’t buy another Xiaomi Phone.

No. I’ve been using Xiaomi since the Mi2. Imy parents also both use xiamo because I get them this phone. I currently have a mi mix 3.
I am just sick of MIUI and the camera app. The bloatware even after ADB fastboot debloating, the random android bugs like notification issues and battery drain, and the inconsistent camera performance.

    I’m getting a Pixel.

What custom ROM are you using? Do you have any recommendations on a custom ROM for a Redmi note 6 pro? I’m super interested in installing a different ROM but I’m a newbie at this stuff and don’t really know where to begin.

Even though I imported the international version of the mi mix 3 to UT, USA and have less coverage than most everyone else (T Mobile. Can really only utilize higher frequency bands because mix 3 doesn’t support same ones = spotty overall coverage), I think I might. Nothing being offered in the American market really strikes my fancy, especially at what they’re asking me to pay. If I can load Xiaomi.eu on a future device, I’m even more interested.

I don’t like MIUI either, but it is a lot more customisable these days and I understand you can enable the app drawer. I have using Nova Launcher these last 4 years and tinker around until my phone is a joy to use. I change up the UI once a year (along with my case) to keep it feeling fresh.

Goize, thanks a lot for your response! One thing I knew from your feedbacks are the complaints about the software & the ads 🙁 (to me it’s just the ads) A lot of us would still buy a Xiaomi phone because it is more budget friendly and it only means that we are broke, jk. I think we just know what to spend more and what to spend less to! I have no problem with people buying expensive phones because it’s their choice and I have friends who just happen to like ios than android. But one thing for sure, Xiaomi offers beast specs for a great price!

I am rocking Mi Max 2 and just got the battery replaced. It was cheap to replace and the battery is lasting all day and then some. I’ve also been using magnetic charge cables so my charge port is in great condition too. I’m hoping I can 3 more years out of this device. Highly recommended.

Tho just to be clear my Xiaomi performance wise is absolutely amazing and stunned me, I just wish it’s philosophy alligned more with mine.

Hell yeah. Coming up two years since I switched from Apple to Xiaomi mi 8 and I’m due an upgrade, and for the first time ever I don’t feel the need to upgrade for more power, after two years I am still in awe of how powerful this phone is, but I’m upgrading anyway because technology gives me the horn. I’m seriously considering changing my contract to sim only, and buying a new Black Shark 3 outright.

there are no bloat apps, there are like 3 idiots that keep posting about adware, and they probably bought phones from a crappy reseller that actually put the ads on the phone. It has nothing to do with Xiaomi. The worst thing I ever saw on MIUI Global ROM was an ad within their own “Themes” app where you can skin the UI to your liking.

I have been running Xiaomi.eu ROM on both my Mi Note 3 and Mi 8, no ads whatsoever. I also rather trust Xiaomi with my cloud data than Google, because guess which company answers to the NSA/FBI? Not Xiaomi. I would be more cautious if I lived or traveled within China.

As for battery drain, once you use the phones for 2 years the battery definitely degrades. I just replaced the battery in my Mi 8. The battery cost $8 and the phone back cost $8. It now holds a charge(admittedly, the battery I got is more like 3000mAh not 3400mAh), but definitely better than the ~1800mAh I was holding on the old battery(which started out close to 3300mAh 2 years ago)

I have been running MIUI 12 for many months now, it is fine. I love the super wallpaper, too. I run Launcher 10 because I still prefer the Tile UI having owned iPhone, Android and Windows Phone in the past. Instead of spewing crap, try MIUI 12 for yourself.

I too own the 9t and honestly I’m just meh on it. It’s certainly a nice phone and hits way above its price range but not only do I find I have bugs all the time, I don’t find the phone that fantastic. The camera is OK imo and Ive had it crash on me more than once along with other apps every now and then. Nothing insignificant but also nothing really alarming or worth making a big fuss about.

To answer the question, I probably will get another Xiaomi phone. They’re unique, have a nice interface, perform pretty well, and most importantly they’re incredibly cheap.

Started with xiaomi with A1. It was a great device with great software. Moved to A3. Considering how badly they have screwed the software in A3 after Android 10 update, I don’t think I will stick to xiaomi. I don’t like whatever chinese manufacturers do to the software in terms of looks and UX. I prefer as stock as it can get.

Yes! I have a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and have bought the Redmi Note 5 for my husband. My phone has all the features that I value – snapdragon processor, plenty of ram, storage, headphone jack, expandable memory/dual sim, IR Blaster and a massive battery. The only specs I would hope to improve with my next purchase are improved camera and NFC. I have replaced the battery in the phone after 3 years of usage – now I have a battery that lasts all day and part of the next (again). I’m hoping that this will last me another three years. I love tech, but I can’t justify spending thousands on a phone when there are some really well-priced alternatives.

Definitely would still pick a Xiaomi phone over something that costs more than a 1000$.

No i would probably not buy a xiaomi phone next time, i would go for a OnePlus. The reason being miui is too heavy skin, as i have a redmi k20 pro and my friend has one plus 7 I’ve tested too many games in both of the devices even though both phones have sd 855 still redmi k20 pro under performs. Also there is no x-input support for controller in miui, in oneplus just pick your otg and plug the controller and you are good to go, but in miui the controller gets detected but doesn’t work. Further, my k20 pro has started collecting dust inside the front camera lens after 4 weeks of use.

Oh yeah. every time I go into the T-Mobile store the person at the counter is like “whoa, what kind of phone is that?” Basically for us it’s iPhone vs Samsung. All the other brands available in the US are not very interesting, very underpowered, or priced super high. Even OnePlus is getting super expensive these days and the pixel this year was a little bit underwhelming. if I’m being honest I only got this phone because Zack from JerryRigEverything gave it a great review, passed his durability test, and had a great full screen display implementation with it’s front facing camera. I do wish it was not ceramic on the back though. Makes for a very heavy device that just wants to fall out of your hands at every given second. More and more these days I wish we would just go back to a high quality plastic. Still have wireless charging with higher durability and lower cost.

Have had 4 Xiaomi phones since 2015, waiting on the 11T Pro with a pop up camera, 5000mah battery and 120hz oled. If that doesn’t happen I’m jumping ship.

For all it’s software jank, Xiaomi is stupidly cheap and gives you so much hardware for your $.

I never went back. I had a Xiaomi mi mix 2S when it was new. Then one day it wouldn’t charge. Bought a new battery took over 30 days to get it from China. It worked for 2 weeks then failed again. If you are going to have any problems you might just have to buy a new one to fix it. I bit the bullet and went with a galaxy note 10 afterwards.

If I’m on a budget, Xiaomi will be my first choice, but if not, I’d go over for something like Oneplus or Samsung, because while the price to spec on the Xiaomi is basically unbeatable, but the optimization for THAT spec is not as well as other, take Mi10 for example, when you record a video on 4k or 1080p60, you can’t switch lens while recording, like when you want to switch to the Ultrawide while recording, or that amazing telephoto lens(that you end up only able to use for photography), it seems that it just doesn’t utilize as well as they can, and sometimes a software bug is very prominent in a certain area, that you’ll guarantee to “meet” that bug and it irritating most of the time

I’m on my 4th xiaomi phone. Had redmi note 4g, 5, 7, and on 9s now. I think they are great. And there’s a good enough amount of custom roms/support for them.

I feel like they are pretty durable and decent phones. I’ve never really had any issues with them either. I plan on getting another one for sure.

I even got a mi band now because the phones have served me well and they got alot of products lol.

I’ve had the mi 8 for about 6 months or so. Greatest purchase I’ve made. Performs like a champ and has solid battery life. Thank god for independent developers because miui is horrible (lots and lots of bugs, croppy animations, horrible battery management).

I used 2 xiaomi phones and 8 months ago i switched to samsung and the experience is pretty bad, what xiaomi does better than any other mamufacturer is trying to give features to the under 300$ segment. Miui is pretty crappy but developer support is so good for xiaomi that pretty much every snapdragon powered xiaomi phone has a stable custom ROM. So i will take mi phone over any other manufacturer if im on a budget

But implementation of feautures in samsung is pretty crappy, for example i bought a a30s last year and it didnt have a always on display, inspite of having amoled and it doesnt even have a screen recorder which is pretty bad. 3 days ago a friend of mine bought an a50s and it even has edge lighting and edge screen. Like they don’t even implement all the features in the same line up, thats pretty shit

I bought my first one in a flash sale (Redmi 4A) though it’s an entry-level phone at around (₹7k/180-200$) trust me it worked absolutely fine for a solid 4 years until It got water damaged (a month ago) it was a workhorse, albeit at a slow pace because of the SD 425 but a tremendous value for money. That’s why I bought a Poco X3 as my second phone the second time (It’s a sub/marquee brand by Xiaomi, still they are same) I don’t know what’s available on the European markets but it’s worth it. Not everyone might be a fan of the MIUI but it’s actually sooo better than stock android. Trust me.., the higher Mi phone might be a little overpriced (idk as the only flagship they have is the Mi 10 here) they are really worth it.. I mean it works like a new phone even after 1-2 years.. in short; yes I would

No. I personally don’t have any issues with the software. Battery life got even much better after the update to MIUI12. Honestly, I have no idea why people are using this OS so much.

After my galaxy S3 broke, I got redmi 2 and used for 2 years and was more than satisfied with MIUI and phones that cost 1/6th the flagships. Later at 2018 August I got POCOPHONE F1 and it still runs without a single problem.

I prefer Xiaomi for it’s worth and Developer community.

This phone now will work flawless for 2 more years for sure, NEVER spending more than 300$ on a phone as these are already faster than my usage speed.

I’m not working for Xiaomi and I don’t want to advertise their stuff. But I never had a phone that worked perfectly before. So I don’t expect this one to do. Crashing apps are probably badly written apps, not the OS. Question is, what are your expectations for a phone that costs as much as the “crap series” of other companies.

Yes, it’s take it or leave it deal here… Xiaomis are bad in few ways (explained in bottom), but it’s cheap and it’s not like ppl have many choices here. If not Xiaomi then i should buy a phone 2-3× the price of Xiaomi for the same specification

*Yes xiaomis are bad, QC’s really lousy, 2 phones of mine (Poco F1 & Redmi Note 8P)’s touchscreens are not responding around 42°C. And Redmi 9 just turns off by itself regularly everyday. Customer services are useless (tried to complain but they don’t give a ffk about this)

Pixel’s build quality and battery life is always sub-par. Did you try the GCam modded for your phone? .
Pretty sure others will catch up to Google image processing when you switch from 9t.

Luckily, I don’t have to make the decision. I just checked and the Mi 10T Lite is comparable, but has only an LCD screen instead of AMOLED. Rest is similar. Don’t know if the difference is so high. Rest is quite comparable. So yeah, that’s probably the one I’d go for since Poco is much more expensive.

But if I were you I’d wait for Nov 11, last year they had a ridiculous sale at that time. It’s called ‘single’s day’ in China and it’s basically like black friday. Look out for that.

Android is always a bit shitty for daily use compared to IOS , Android is just too capable to be simple.
In free time learn about custom roms before switching to an iphone. If not One plus phones have nailed the Android software try them.

I previously had a mi 9T but that broke so I switched to a galaxy note 9 because I wanted to involve myself into some kind of ecosystem so devices work together, plus I already had a galaxy watch

I thought about that before but now instead of compromising on software, I would be really compromising on hardware with the SE. And I would would still have to pay 500€ on top of that.

I was actually thinking about iphone 11 after it’s initial price decrease, but everytime the dark mode turns on on my mi 9t, I stop even considering going back to lcd

    Redmi 1s > Redmi 2 Prime > Reddmi Note 4 > Poco F1

But I think I’ll move to OnePlus next… Too much headache now a days with Xiaomi… Hardware 10/10 but software implementation, management and service just not worth for me anymore!

Same. For me at least it’s the new “OnePlus” when oneplus was still aiming for best value. Solid device would get again considering at this price I could upgrade yearly and still be saving over any Samsung/iPhone, but, I won’t simply because the phone itself is still holding up solid.

Would go back to LG personally. Both hardware (audio and screen) and native software was better, and NOT buggy, plus no ads (even though I disabled them).

I own Note 8Pro – best phone I ever have. Do I have issues with the phone ? You bet I have but not bigger than any issue I have on a flag telephones from Samsung or Apple which I own in the past. The best phone for the money I pay for it.

I’m not tied to one brand. I look for the best specs at the best price. It happened that requirement was met last year with the mi9T I currently use and I think it’s a great device. Love the amoled screen and the size is perfect for me.

If they made another phone like the mix 3, yes! Even a hardware upgrade would be nice. Not a fan of the notches, punchholes, pinholes or otherwise, and I hardly take selfies so the lack of a front camera is no biggie.

I don’t have much experience with Android phones yet, but I have had my Mi 9 lite for almost a year now and it works perfectly. I’m very satisfied with my purchase, I recommended a xiaomi phone to my brother as well and I’ll definitely consider this brand again in a few years if I need an upgrade.

We don’t know yet what will come in the future, but in my country the options are limited, no pixel, no one plus, no Motorola, so if I want value brand my only option are Xiaomi, Oppo, realme, vivo, and between 4 of them I choose Xiaomi….. The only contender is Samsung if they release a super value for money phone, and it looks like Samsung aiming for that with M31 and M51 (unfortunately I hate Samsung software)

my budget always was somewhere between the low end and midrange. The last phone was MI A1 and now I have RN 7 since it came out. I am not sure when I am gonna change this one I kinda got bored with it but also don’t have any problems with it. When I decide that I want to change my phone I look at everything that is out there and compare them. I am not one of those people that will stick to one brand even tho I was very satisfied with it. The first android was Samsung then I had a couple of LGs and now Xiaomi. Used iPhone six a few years back for a little while but didn’t like it.

Xiaomi is of course under consideration, but if at all possible I’ll switch to SONY. They’re practically the only company still adhering to the original Android pledge: that your kernel needs to be upstream

I have a 9t, and i strongly think that it will be my first and last. It’s a really good phone, but flooding the market in the 200-300 euros range provides nothing but confusion in the buyer (i spent a week swearing before finding the 9t in basically a firesale) and apparently motorola is getting back on its feet, so i’ll get back to them

Probably not if they continue on the direction of more ads and more bloat in the OS. MIUI is tolerable as an “iOS clone” but when I’m seeing OnePlus offer the same midrange specs with a better software experience there really isn’t anything tying me down to Xiaomi.

I will keep buying Pocophone series devices. There are no ads and development is good as well. The similar specced Samsung device costs $120+ more than my Poco X2.

If they make an small medium+sized phone I will stay. Something like the mi9se which I have and love.

But if they only launch bricks, huge and heavy, I will switch to a different brand. I’ve had two xiaomi phones and they were really good and receiving updates for more than two years.

Why? It’s still extremely cheap with the same specs as the samsung s20 ultra, so i don’t get your point

Don’t worry, samsung will also steal your data, as any other smartphone will!
    Mi 10 is 400-450$ tho 🤔

Yeah, been a Xiaomi user since Redmi Note 3 Pro days.

And now Note 8 Pro. Never disappointed at all. Oh also, that Note 3 Pro now is still working with HavocOS Android 10.

    Ads can be turned off.
You can download a different software you know? You don’t have to use miui, there are plenty custom roms available for you

Honestly no, the MI 9T/Redmi K20 (pro) were xiaomi’s best few phones that really stood out. Until now, there isn’t much that stands out, it’s just Xiaomi packing every single thing into a phone unnecessary. I mean why put so many cameras? I’m pretty sure many would prefer better proccessor or better main camera.

As long as they provide great bang for bucks and adb helps me remove almost all their apps, using Xiaomi makes a lot of sense.

Yes. Owning mi 9 lite for 1 almost 1 year and it’s just great for the price of 230 euros. Unless some company comes with more competitive prices and greater innovations, there is no particular reason for me to change.

    Me/My family got RN2, RN4X, RN4X, RN7, RN9.
    So… yeah.

Won’t pay more than ~200€ for a phone. That’s absurd for a device I use a few minutes a day tops. Although I’m not happy with the GPS performance of my RN7 – I made a thread about this, but nobody ever replied to verify my observations -.-

Yes it’s better to have american company “sell” my data to the government – oh wait, they don’t sell they have to deliver and are not allowed to talk about it.
In contrast to the Chinese who give a fuck about me, the US can actually hurt me.
Just unlock your phone and remove the chinese ROM and put .eu ROM and it – not because of evil yellow men, but because it’s actually better.

I went from the note 4 to the mi 9 lite. Still happy, but the phones get bigger and heavier every year, so the next one will probably from a different brand. The mi 9 lite is already a bit too big for me.

Actually not sure. Xiaomi is an interesting quality price value but the competition is getting a bit more interesting and also we can buy a 2019 flagship phone for a good price and it does still great quality pictures and outperform the middle range xiaomis.
    An S10 is like 500€, a one plus 8T at 600€, etc.

The hardware is good for the price. The software on the other hand is just bloatware. Yes they still update many old devices like redmi note 5 but the things they give us pre installed is just trash. Their security app is just for ads and uses clean master. Clean master!! like WTF. And it also uses Avast. On mobile. Let that sink in. An antivirus on a phone. Fine do it but clean master is just a joke. Secondly almost all the Xiaomi apps have ads in it. The music app has ads. The video player has ads. They send your data to their servers to show you more ads. Yes you can disable all of that but it takes a lot of time. And an average person just wants to use the phone as it is. + Their mi optimization is just trash. Just disable it and use it. + If you want to Install custom rom Xiaomi goes out of their way to not let you do it.

In short the hardware is good for the price. The software can be changed and bloatware can be uninstalled not through the phone but through plugging it in a computer. If you have the time to do that then buy it.

I use redmi note 5 plus/pro don’t know what it is but I use it. Yes the battery was getting worst day by day but when I uninstalled the bloatware like the clean master and Avast in the security app and toons of other Xiaomi and even google apps. And Installed blokada battery life is good as new. It can last a when day easily.

I had note 3 mtk , note 4x , note 5 , mi mix 3 in that order. I just bought the oneplus 8T. The Mi 10 was too expensive at launch with no mi mix 4 in sight. Mi 10 Ultra never came to Europe.

Honestly, I’d still go for the Mi 9T, maybe the Pro version. I had it for a year and then upgraded to Poco F2 Pro, I kinda regret the change.

Its not like Poco is a bad phone, but everything I like about it (most of it) is exactly the same, I don’t feel the difference in performance and it’s just slightly bigger making it a bit too bulky. 9T was just perfect and the 855 in the Pro version will be OK for years.

I have Xiaomi mi 8 lite.
Hmm… I will think hard about this. Xiaomi is good but not best phone i ever had. Only one or some few times my phone freezes, nice camera and really good looking miui interface – this things are closed in small budget.
Propably i would choose Pocophone 🙂

Not sure having a bad battery experience the health of my Mi 9 dropped by 25% in a year and the hella much of bloatware combined with the difficulty to root just messed it up for me.

    Edit: Typos

I’m going to have to say no I wouldn’t buy another Xiaomi. I’ve had a mi 9 se for a year.

Had to return it after 3 months for repair due to the touchscreen becoming un-usable due to ghost touches.

Have been ok then till recently when SIM card slot 1 stopped working and I had to switch to slot 2.

Also really not a fan of miui. I refuse to use any system app that wants my data to function fully. Why would I agree to sharing my data for the cleaner app??? I don’t understand why it needs to share my data before I delete it.

Fiancé has a Mi A2 with Android one. 2 years old but for the last year it’s regularly shutting down or going into boot loops.

I like the phones and the prices but there are plenty options at this price point now so I would switch brand next time.

But honestly, the Zenfone 7 is the only phone I like at the moment. IMO it’s missing the 3.5mm jack and IPX certification but there is no other phone with:
    – dual sim
    – dedicated external memory
    – OIS
    – aptX HD/Adaptive

There is literally no alternative. Few years back I had a phone with 3 simcards and a memory slot (Acer Liquid E700). Now all the phones have the same boring specs. I like that the Zenfone has no notch and a 90Hz OLED panel. Excited for today =)

I was really hyped for the Redmi K20 and K30 series but xiaomi doesn’t add a sd card slot anymore (and **very** few have a 512GB version, 256GB isn’t enough, especially with these amazing 4k cameras recently). With all the phones they make one would think I would find at least 1 that I like. I regret buying the Mi A2 Lite, stock android sucks. Having MIUI was cool. Am not going to buy from China again though.

We have a Max 3, a Note 7 and 2 Note 8s within the family. We also had an S2, but that was lost due to stupidity. These phones are fantastic value for money and they work fine. Xiaomi will definitely be my first choice when we need a new phone. However, as always, we are not blindly loyal to any brand, so we will do research before actually making a purchase.

I’ve just bought a Poco F2 Pro last month replacing my 3 year old Redmi Note 4. My RN4 still works but the battery has lost about 30% of its full capacity. I use it as back up phone. With F2 Pro i get the latest phone, chipset, specs and able to play newer games. I probably use it for 3-4years or until it breaks before I buy a new one. Android phones get updated from 2-3 years only unlike Apple from 4-5 years. But buying 2 new budget to midrange android phones in the span of 5-6 years is most of the time a lot cheaper than the cheapest new iPhone and you’ll probably need to change the expensive battery in an iPhone after 2 years of use or need to bring powerbank along. I’ve used an Iphone 5 before. Lasted me 4 and half years. Changed 2 not original batteries. Finally the screen died. iOS is smooth, ecosystem is good but I feel that the specs cannot keep up with their software updates. So its not good to use for too many years. To me iPhone is only good with the original iOS that it came with. With every update, you’ll always wish that you could go back to previous iOS. It is also overpriced, not to mention its accessories. Xiaomi being similar to iOS previously helped me with the transition from iOS to android. It has a good ecosystem too. As long as Xiaomi gives us value for money phone, my answer is yes.

I’ve only just deprecated my Mi A1 with a Poco F2 Pro, and have to say I don’t mind MIUI.

This is going to sound like a weird reason to like it, but I find the IR blaster really useful in Xiaomi phones. But really it’s the price v performance that has me a returning customer. The A1 gave me no issues in 3 years.

Nope, too much bloatware and ads and also expected more from the brand
without neglecting the constant need to collect data from applications that do not need it, a bittersweet experience

Moving back to iPhone after 8 years with Android and 2 of those years with the F1. Just little things that are annoying sometimes and the big one been the F1 updates.

I would buy a Xiaomi phone if it’s the best in the price range and has a Snapdragon chip.
No MediaTek chips as no custom ROMs for them.

I’ve had Redmi note 4x for a year and switched to MI MIX 2S after a year as I could finally afford a flagship and the phone was beautiful for the times it was released in. Used a custom ROM since day 1 on the Redmi. Flashed same custom ROM on the MIX and could not think of any reason to ever buy a different brand.

Then I was forced to move back to MUI by my employer as they moved to mobile authentication and my physical token broke. After moving back to MIUI within a week I’ve realized that I’ll never again buy a Xiaomi. Battery life got down to 3h SOT. The phone kills my Google clock app so either I’m forced to set alarms on the MIUI clock app or not have alarms at all. Phone started lagging. Snapdragon 845 lagging sometimes in UI and in Apps. The benchmarks show good numbers but using the phone is not a flagship experience. Updates are hit or miss. Sometimes you get security updates sometimes you dont. I was once waiting for a text message from someone but Xiaomi never showed the notification from Google messages.

    I need my phone:
    a) up to date
    b) secure
    c) stable
    d) reliable
    e) long living

Xiaomi phones are neither of those things. Unless you’re willing to keep flashing custom ROMs. I’m not, too tired of that.

One day Xiaomi will may realize that their phones are just empty shells with components inside but to soul. Only then will I switch back.

I stopped using custom roms with my last phone lenovo k6 power. When it got damaged, i bought redmi note 7. And i was planning to use it without any modding. I have been using miui since 2019 march. Honestly i don’t think it’s trash or bad, but it’s not my taste. There are many ui glitches, many broken api which are a part of stock android (like miui optimisation destroys the ability to install split apks), pretty bad ram management, new bugs and issues with every update. Update scenario is worst. Getting miui updates doesn’t mean shit, security patches is more important. I know it’s a budget phone, so atleast two years of proper security update is necessary. Here in this phone even the first one year didn’t have proper security updates. Update was late by a minimum of three months always. Samsung and realme have better update situations. And we personally have samsung, Xiaomi and realme of same budget range in our home.

For using custom roms and modding xiaomi phones are great value for money. Miui 12 their latest version has so many bugs and issues and many people are complaining. Instead of optimising the os they are focussing on cramming more features which nobody uses. So my next phone will not be Xiaomi, because i don’t want an miui experience anymore. And I won’t be going the custom rom route also. i just want a phone that works without much issues and most things should work without any additional tinkering. (Installing a youtube vanced app or split apk package is pain in the ass in Xiaomi phone. )

I’m pretty sure people are buying phones from the same company just because they haven’t seen any others. I’ve had many phones from many different companies and id say that Google , Oneplus and samsung makes really good phones.

They said they want to do it but they don’t know how it can be done without sacrificing battery life. Honestly I wouldn’t mind having 3000mah battery with smaller screen.

Processors are now less power hungry than 5 years ago.

i have the 3a and ordered the Pixel 5, but send it back. Build quality is just not that great for the price imho. Software wise it’s great, but nothing fancy, gets boring after a while. It’s for people that just use a phone when they need to and not wonna play around with it. I’m getting the MI 10 now, hope that will satisfy the nerd in me 😉

I don’t mind LCD because tbh I’m concerned about burn in. People keep phones for 3+ years and get mild burn in.. OLED/AMOLED is getting better but for now.. LCD is good for me.

Proud owner of the STILL amazing and gorgeous Xiaomi Mi Mix (lithium) Pro 6/256 since Jan 2016. 4-year-old and still kicking. Had to replace the battery twice.

Just bought a Mi 9 Pro 12/512 and currently in the process of unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom ROM.

    Xiaomi rulez!

The global version of the Mi Mix 3 does support all the common bands for Tmobile/ATT – 2,4,12/17. Apart from the Mix series, Mi 8/9 no other models have good compatibility in US/N.A. in general.

Yes. With my just wonderful Mi Max 3 with it’s massive 6,9″ display I’m still hoping for a Mi Max 4. I can’t go with a smaller display. It’s out of the question.

Since I tend to hold on to my phones for years I only buy the best available at the time. While I am totally in love with my MI Mix 2 I’m not married to Xiaomi.

Yes but every Xiaomi or china brand phone needs a hard asterisk next to them stating you require basic knowledge of removing bloatware or custom ROM. Would never buy one as a gift for someone straight out of the box.

    NO WAY

I have the Mi 9 T Pro, and it’s the WORST phone I’ve ever had.

\- It came with ghost touch problems on the screen, (very common on this device, just check xiaomi forum) and since it’s an imported device, Xiaomi Brazil (where I live) refused to give me support (apple would never do that, for example). I had to spend money to replace the screen on a brand new phone.

\- Then, through all the time I used Mi Ui 11, there was a bug with screen brightness, and they didn’t fixed it until Mi Ui 12

\- So, now with a new screen and Mi Ui 12, all is set and done, right? Everything is good and life is great, right? NO! I just installed Mi Ui 12 and my phone entered on a boot loop, I had to factory reset, and now I can’t use my fingerprint reader because that’s the cause of the boot loop. Of course the hardware on the phone is great, and the price is pretty good too, but the experience as a whole simply makes it not worth it.

So yeah, worst phone ever, would never buy xiaomi again!

Depends on price/performance. I would probably chose between Xiaomi and realme and choose on specs that I like/need and lower price.

Depends. I tried to love miui, as by the time poco f2 pro I bought for battery and eye burning 1000nits amoled display there were no custom roms.

I wasted a full weekend trying to fix notifications. Absolute shit show. The agressieve miui dose didn’t help.

Only when custom rom arrived did I truly started to like the phone. So, take it as you will. The adverts are considered the problem by many but they are not, at least in eu. They are non intrusive and you can live with them no problem.

I bought a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro about a month ago. I like It more than any Samsung or Apple phone I have used. That said it was quite expensive, especially here in Norway, but I really feel like I got my money’s worth

Yes the firmware has some strange bugs. I got a Mi 9 on EU release.
With Miui12 some strange bugs occured.
Sometimes my phone locks the screen for no reason.
    DND gets ignored sometimes.

And 2 days before it downloaded something called “compte mi.apk” into my downloads folder and I don’t know what it is and don’t want to install it.

My first Redmi Note 5 pro. Fantastic phone, everything worked so well, camera, battery storage etc. Had it four years, since it was introduced. Selling for a third of original cost too !
Now have Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, and loving it .
I have Xiaomi security camera, cleaning robot, numerous temp/humidity monitors. They all work well, engineering of the best quality and performance.

    >ROM if a good one is developed

Not many left that are supported. Pixelrom used to be great but since dev moved to Android 11 beta I wouldn’t flash it for daily use. Also he’s not updating nearly enough. Sum that with a couple of bugs and I’d say right now the best rom you can be on is Xiaomi EU or even official MIUI with some tweaks here and there.

My first xiaomi phone is Redmi 1s. It’s camera is very good with it’s low price.
2nd is Redmi Note 2 with the camera quality seems to low compared to Redmi 1s.
Got the next Redmi 5 also not quite good on camera results and same thing happened when I got Redmi Note 7.

Each new Redmi doesn’t give me the satisfaction as Redmi 1s so I guess this is the end for me to get xiaomi again in future.

Would you still choose Xiaomi next time you buy a phone? Nope
