\- Screen: I never notice that the resolution is 720p, probably because it is OLED.
\- Battery: Never worry about it anymore. I’m sure the 720p screen helps with it.
\- Speed: More than quick enough for me.
\- Opening Phone: Fucking horrible. The fingerprint is so frustrating.
\- Wish: I wish it had nfc and fingerprint reader on the back.
Yeah! And if don’t mind the effects speed, you even can try to speed up 1.5x or 2.0x in developer setting, the finger unlock effect maybe speed up.
I just did that and I’d say it’s much much better now.
Removing the fingerprint animation make it feels faster, i don’t know if it’s faster indeed, but the animation isn’t very fluid so removing it make me feel better about it.
Another tips maybe help.
You can record the same finger in the settings, maybe will increase the scan accuracy.
If you line up your thumb correctly during the setup it works really well 🙂 I did the setup again a few days ago, now it works like a charm
That’s just plecebo. Security updates pushes by Google and do not modify any thing except kernel and some background anti hack stuff.
It does not save much power by the display itself but the power needed to render load intense workloads sure gets less power-hungry when you lower the number of pixels needed to render. So for somebody that uses his phone for web surfing and texting it does not make a big or even any difference but for games, it should be noticeable

I’ve never ever had even the slightest problem on full brighteness, though I sometimes get a bug where it goes to adaptive brightness but a simple restart fixes it.
But especially in comparison to my A1, it’s night and day. When using my A1 the screen looks dim and washed out in comparison.

Really? Did you have the phone and couldn’t stand the screen? I’m surprised. I deeply hope their next phone, if it has the same screen say, stays at 720p, the speed and battery is absolutely worth it for me.
I have to say: I never noticed it. Have had One 1,2,X, 3T, Mi A1: All of them being full HD screens.
It’s not that I can’t notice if I try to pixel peak, but that’s just not what I’m doing day to day and don’t notice day to day. 😛

P.S: The A3 is a GREAT device. Very solid for the money. My beef with it, was the display. It just did not cut it for me. And the ability of the camera to focus on close range subjects; shooting macro with any Xiaomi device is an exercise in frustration, thought this was not the case.
Yeah I was considering a OnePlus device my other issue with a/b partitioning and how it makes ROMs challenging but I’m sure I could work it out. Also the price as OnePlus devices have been creeping in price recently in any case I can install oxygen os on whyred.
The PenTile matrix 1560x720p display is horrible but after a while you get used to such a low pixel density.
However, I appreciate the good quality OLED panel.

Yeah, the other thing was the 4000mah battery I really wanted a bit battery. If I had to upgrade from whyred id go with a mi mix 3 or k30 pro and install a custom ROM or a OnePlus device for the same reason.

I’m not much of a camera person. If it was up to me, I’d much rather have one great ultra wide screen camera than all of this. I think the only thing that actually matters for cameras on the back to really feel you’ve been there, are panoramic images. 😛 On the other hand, I really like the front camera’s right res images.
Good idea with adding finger twice I’ll try that. Still wish the animation would be quicker. My Nokia 7 plus unlocks instantly after touch.

Go to About phone and tap check for updates. They’ll give you the prompt to install security patches. My phone has improved massively, I don’t have a second phone so i can’t post videos but I assure you unlocking with fingerprints is awesome. You can also add the same finger twice to improve the speed.
Fair argument, I guess I like the speed and additional battery – especially because I don’t really see the difference. Or not enough to bother me.
The Samsung A20 is also a bit larger. Just saying. 🙂
I think, 6.088 inch is probably the largest it can get, before it becomes too noticeable. Then again, it’s also only recently that I thought the old MacBook Airs, are too low res. It really doesn’t bother me, even when clearly noticeable like on the old MacBook Air.
I’d much rather have the extra speed and battery life for it.

Really, okay but for me I liked the fact I could mod the phone and it didn’t have a notch. I had a headphone lack fingerprint on the back and external storage and other nice extra things. It was just a better device for me.
Try adding the security patches, my MI A3 unlocks with fingerprints like a dream.
The Mi A2 also had a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Smaller battery, but a type-c charging port, and better speakers.
But miA2 was having a better chipset (SD 660) and probably better hardware…

Mine it did an update 2 months ago for something in the system. Restarted, fingerprint worked like a charm for 10 min, then again, the shitty stuff. I guess it’s just bad coding or whatever.
This is why I chose a Redmi note 5 pro over the mi A2 it had better hardware and a better design it has a fingerprint reader on the back . It’s really fast to unlock. A dual camera 18:9 display a headphone jack no notch and a SD 636. It’s a perfect device once you get rid of miui and switch to a stock android based custom ROM. Making it basically the same experience as a mi A2/A3.l
Well a friend of mine has the Mi A3 and I have the Mi A2 Lite, and you can see the difference instantly. But I guess you could just get used with it. Still found nothing to compete with my Mi A2 Lite ( for its price ).
My eyesight is terrible and I can immediately notice a difference, especially on OLED screens with pentile subpixel arrangements.
I’m sure you could get used to it and for some who came from other 720p screens it makes little difference. Personally I couldn’t live with less than 1080p, a friend lent me a Samsung A20 and there was a noticeable difference in screen quality.
That is a whole different situation. When lowering the resolution the amount of light emitted and the size of the display doesn’t change. Only the phone will save a marginal amount of energy because it has to render less pixels. A screen with a physically lower resolution saves some energy.
S10 has been tested with different resolutions – didn’t affecting at all to battery time
People who have problems with a 720p screen must have like an airforce pilot’s eyesight. I honestly can’t see the difference unless the phone is 10cm from my eyes. I’d add that camera quality is superb for the price, sometimes I even prefer the stock camera shots over gcam ones.
