they removed background blur effect from the home screen in the latest firmware due to some issues, but it doesn’t matter when device is locked?

The blur is much better As you said. It doesn’t make any difference in the performance. It’s so stupid!
awesome, thanks a lot! I think my state (São Paulo) doesn’t charge for ICMS also, from what I’ve seen on the internet
yeah, I guess the only warranty is by sending the phone back to the store in china and having them claim the official warranty by you. you gotta thrust aliexpress I guess. they give a 90 days money back guarantee from what I’ve seen. hong kong goldway is pretty trustable, but it’s not the same as having local warranty, of course. we hope we don’t need it anyway. I never needed warranty for any phone before
I’m still a bit hesitant because I’m planning to move out of the country maybe by July. and if I buy after I move, it would be just as cheap as aliexpress, and I would have the local official warranty. but I’m not 100% sure if and when I’m gonna move out, so I’m tending to just buy it now and thrust aliexpress on it
Is the blur background only available for MIUI 12?
awesome man, thanks a lot for the info, definitely helpful!! I’m planning in doing exactly like you, same store, same declared value, also on release day. glad to know it worked out well for you! do you know anything about the warranty though?
you’re welcome for the award, you’ve been helpful! not sure what it means also ahahhahaha but it was free
Same performance for me
Yes, that was all: tax (153) + post office fee (15). The state where I live doesn’t charge ICMS, luckily.
Yeah, it’s a real bummer. In fact, that and MIUI horrendous RAM management are the only issues I’m having with this phone. Fortunately, software problems that can easily be solved. Let’s hope they do it and fast. Here’s the link (sorry for the late response, I’m new here and it’s my first comment on a post): https://imgur.com/a/AiH2Cie
You’re forgetting that what seemingly works well, doesn’t mean it has no benefits whatsoever of it being removed.
I understand. Yes, in case you need any assistance, AliExpress mediates your dispute and based on provided evidence, the store will take care of shipping and replacement or refund your money. Neither have I needed warranty services so far. 4 long years with a AliExpress Z2 PRO and it has been functioning great (apart from battery health) since day 1.
Well, if you’re moving out in July, it’s roughly two months from here. If you buy the 5G model on release day tomorrow, considering an average 30 days wait to delivery, you’ll only have 1 month to use it until you have the chance to afford better models with better prices and proper warranty service abroad. It’s quite a consideration, depends on what phone you’ve got right now. Weigh in your options and I’m sure you can make a good choice. If you need anything else, please let me know. Cheers, my friend!
Yes! It happens on the home screen menu only. It looks awful. I’ve got a Redmi Note 8. I hate that white background. Bring back the blur one, please.
This happens to me too only when dark mode is on
Blur still works on mine on MIUI 12.0.1.0 MI 10t lite – must be specific to your device
I still have the blur effect on Mi 11, MIUI 12.0.13
here’s a method to get it back with a third-party app.

Yeah, even I was thinking the same thing, this bug happened for me too, so in conclusion… The ugly grey effect is just a buisness tactic to force people to move to a better phone, the blur effect works perfectly fine in my redmi 9 prime (Lancelot) without any stutter….
a bug in MIUI? never heard of.
I own a Redmi 9 Prime and have the same bug. The blur effect works only on the lockscreen.
Even my note 7 pro can handle it good..this is a shitty tactic actually
It’s a stupid optimization measure that doesn’t make any noticable difference.
The blur looked cool, especially the kind that animated the blur radius rather than the opacity.
The Redmi Note 8T handled the effect like a champ, not sure why they removed it.

damn, really? I’m about to buy the RN10 5G and that’s quite disappointing to hear. can you send me a photo or video so I can see how it looks like, please?
What’s the phone model? and firmware version? I have a Redmi 9T and it still has that
They did it to reduce lag when you pull it down on low end devices.
You’re welcome!
i have miui 12.6 on RN7 and the blur works perfectly
Awesome! Thanks!
Glad to be of help! Yeah, you should do it, I may be doing it again (this time for my sister), it’s a pretty safe and cost-saving method to follow, I believe. Even though it’s a global model, I’m not sure Xiaomi assistance services would be available here in Brazil. Guess the only warranty is the one offered directly by the store, through AliExpress itself (not sure how long they will cover you for; I advise you to read the whole product description page when buying). Thanks again for the award!
yeah no worries man. thanks a lot for the screenshot, and glad to know another brazilian here hahahaha I’m also new! yeah let’s hope they will fix those issues with the next updates. hope they relase 12.5 soon
btw, since you’re also brazilian let me ask you, did you buy it on aliexpress? if so, can you tell me in which store, how long it took to arrive, how much were you taxed, and much they declared on the package? sorry for the many questions rs
Exactly..
also, about the tax, 168 was all you had to pay right? including the Correios tax and the ICMS? or was there anything else?
here’s a method to get it back with a third-party app.

Wow, thank you so much for the award! I’m not so sure what they really mean but I’m sure it’s a warm welcome and it couldn’t be better than coming from a fellow countryman! Happy to hear I did well with the pictures (had to look it up how to upload them xD) And yeah, 12.5 looks really promising, if they solve those little problems the device will run perfectly. Yes, I got it from Hong Kong Goldway store on the release day (8th March). I heard some people say that that store usually declares around $80 for mobile phones. Asked them to declare a lower price ($45) on the package and they did it, because of that I was taxed R$ 168 on the RN10. Since I live far from Curitiba, the delivery took 29 days. I’m coming from a 4yo ZUK Z2 PRO (chinese Lenovo) and I’m really enjoying the Redmi! Hope I was helpful with the information! Nice to meet you!
Lol go buy a samsung, they don’t care at all about their old devices after new ones come out, barely any updates
>Because xiaomi wants us to buy a new device lol
Ok, I think I’ll buy Samsung next time
So I shouldn’t update my device?
After every update, MIUI needs about a week to make use of the battery optimisations, battery life will seem worse initially. Don’t give up! Might have also been luck of the draw, something that requires less processing power, shouldn’t bring forth less battery life, and that’s just logic 🙂
Indeed, quite a decision ahhahah but I’m going for it after all! Thanks again for all the very useful information, I appreciate it! Cheers!!
To those who do not have the blur: here’s a method to get it back with a third-party app.

Same Note 7, never had issues whatsoever but looks like someone did I guess… I just don’t understand why they don’t create an option to turn it OFF or ON and default it comes with OFF. Why all this crap just to remove it at the end and fuck those who had no problems and are now stuck wth this grey crap.
Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Indian
MIUI 12.0.10.0
Blur effect do exist thankfully (Control Center New Version).

Be glad you still have some kind of blur. Recently released models like the RN10 come with white background on notifications bar and control center and there’s no choice about it. Just got one and it’s utterly frustrating. Let’s hope MIUI 12.5 brings it all back. Still a shame, though.
I guess thats not a Firmwareissue..
