They listened us. They changed the bootloader unlocking policy of POCO F1

You could. But still Huawei’s method of entering your imei on a site. Receiving a code in the mail and entering “fastboot oem unlock ‘codeinmail’ ” was a better method than downloading some exe on a forum. Even if you are running windows.
Think about the mac lovers as well. Those poor guys and girls already need 3th party software to transfer files over usb. Let them unlock a bootloader on their OS of choise. They suffer enough crap(ple) as it is.
Removable battery
No they can’t unless they diassemble the phone
European here. Don’t miss NFC. Would prefer multiple coloured notification LED. Easily removable battery. Water resistance. But guess price would go up then.
The lack of NFC is baffling though considering cheap budget models have it. Makes me wonder if you have to pay high license fees or something to use it.
Agreed. And none of them are as long as the Poco was right?
Now if they could listen that US & Europeans want NFC…
Removattery.

I often go out without my wallet, especially when when biking and in summer. Yes we also have mobile tram tickets here so all you need is a phone. But yeah if you have your cards with you anyway, they keep being faster.
Motorola Defy from 2010 picked both.
Germany, but it started just recently.
promise to do good stuff -> do something shitty -> make ppl whine about it -> now do the good stuff and say “hey! we lisened to you!”… -_-
No, they can’t EDL anymore. EDL flashes require a special authorization from Xiaomi. Instead of downvoting /u/xCuri0 look at the facts, what he said is exactly what Poco’s community manager said. Need any more proof than that?
With my first mix2s I waited 720 hours, second one only 5 days. I will never understand xiaomi policy
I don’t think Google allows it. Meaning that even if they want to do it they can’t.
And it is kinda bullshit. At least the wait for the POCO F1. They should just remove it as a few days won’t stop resellers from flashing their own ROM. Meaning that the wait is useless and only annoying for customers.
Username checks out :p
You know that’s absolute nonsense?
The first super rugged and waterproof phones like Ericson R310 had removable battery. Hell you don’t even have to go that back far, Samsung S5. Or pretty much any water proof electronics like flashlights or watches, you don’t think they have replaceable batteries?
I mean it’s not exactly revolutionary tech or rocket science.
because the xiaomi apologist don’t want to acknowledge the truth.
Saw this problem with my older mi devices. Had 3 phones delivered to Belgium. None of those shipped with official software. And while i’m not to unconfy flashing roms. Most people would not be able to take this step. So its a good thing these bootloaders are locked.
Where things go wrong for many people is the bootloader unlock request taking weeks to get accepted.
And as a linux user: the mi unlock tool is only available on windows while fastboot oem unlock with an unlock code can be used on any OS.
which is a bs excuse because they don’t bother doing it with the android one devices that could also be flashed to have malware/vendor roms.
nice, unlocked.
He’s the Poco team head, he can’t decide for the rest of Xiaomi. Credit to him, he’s changing things that are under his power
I assume you don’t have Google Pay available yet?
yes probably certification costs of the NFC forum
You purchased two Mix 2s? How come?
One was with(/out warranty) Chinese warranty. I found the same device in the flash deal on amazon. So I sold the old one and bought the new one
Huawei made you lose your warranty on the spot, which is just unfair. I dual boot Linux and Windows, and for the price difference between other flagships and the Pocophone, I am more than happy to boot into Windows and run a Chinese exe on it.
Weird. Vendor already can flash without unlocking
Am IMPRESSED!
Kudos! This is truly heartening, and for once, am VERY pleased with Xiaomi/Poco!
But it seems there are other solutions for it so it’s still no valid reason.
I don’t think so. The first time I tried to unlock my mix 2s was with a 4 years old account and I had to wait 720hours
To prevent vendor roms I think
All credit to /u/matterwitu (Poco Product Head). Superb guy.
what is the reason?
Ive read it depends on the age of the mi account? Could be wrong tho
Really depends on the seller, mine came factory sealed with official ROM from thesolutionshop.
Yeah because Xiaomi really had a choice with vendor ROMs full of malware
It’s such a good image for the press to tell everyone that Xiaomi phones are full of malware
You know that there is a reason behind it though don’t you? And its a little more exhaustive than what this sub believes to be just a data collection effort? Credit where credit is due, that was a relatively short turnaround.
I’m from the EU as well and we have no Google Pay, but personally I don’t see the appeal of it.
Pulling out your wallet with your card and pressing it against the terminal is just as fast as doing the same with your phone, I would think.
Not to mention everyone’s favorite S5 as an example
Are we talking about destiny 2?
> Going by your flair I assume you’re Swedish?
Made me giggle quite hard because I tried to read it in swedish, kinda worked. About 2 seconds later I noticed it’s german and means “guest toilet”.
Credit where Credit is due, great!
Not idea. Don’t use any Google services and prefer not to use my phone for payment.
Going by your flair I assume you’re Swedish? Thought Swish was the way to go there?
Awesome news. I was skipping buying a Pocophone due to the insane long wait time for unlocking the bootloader, but now I’m going to order one the moment it gets LOS.
> Easily removable battery. Water resistance.
pick one
Yup, there’s a valid motivation underneath.
How about my mi mix 2s. Still waiting….720 hours
Yep. Never needed NFC
Sure does. Use it multiple times a day on mix2s.
Wouldn’t buy a phone without it these days.
and in return xiaomi got increased
Like many said what about the rest of us. If you loaned us the phone then yea, you should have some control over what we do. I’m on day 13 of unlocking my Whyred. It’s been nothing but anger towards Xiaomi since they started all this bs with the bootloader and ARP. I personally hope Xiaomi take a massive hit. I had to import kenzo, mido and Whyred, I did because of what it offers. But there is no way in hell I can spend another 15+ days on this dog poo Miui OS #XiaomiCanGoDoOne
