The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro are the true successors of the Redmi Note 3.

Finally someone said it
I am still using my Redmi Note 3 Pro and it is working smoothly. Current estimate of battery capacity from Accubattery after 3 years usage is at 92%.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this phone and hope I can squeeze few more years from it(although I have been seriously thinking about buying a new phone lately).
Going forward, my only concern is that the RAM will be the limiting factor for its life span.
And you don’t have to sell your kidney or break the bank.
RN3 doesn’t really bend unless really try hard. The Redmi Note 7 on the other hand broke like a biscuit.
Well the main thing for me is finally ditching micro-usb.
I’ve beem using AOSP Extended android 9 for the last couple of weeks and found no problems so far. Battery lasts longer than when I was using xiaomi.eu 10.2
Finally an article that 100% convinced me to wait for 7 instead of just buy 6 right when its price will fall for the new version.
The Oreo and Pie custom roms have been great! Nougat was where they couldn’t get the camera to work decently for several months.
If only it had NFC. That would be something I would buy immediately.
My battery became shit after around 1.5 year of use. Usually it was two days without a problem, but now it can not even hold from morning (full) to 5-6 in the afternoon.
It’s still a solid phone, if I wouldn’t cheap out on ram (bought 2gb version) I wouldn’t think about new phone now
You bent rn7 already?
Mine shuts down at 40% when it’s cold, after 2.5 years of use
I disagree, the return to plastic is a downgrade, and why a glass back if theres no qi charging?
If you daily a RN5/6 there’s no reason to update really, just get PEx and gcam
No but I saw that Jerry guy do it
Anyone know if the Pro chassis and placement of button is the same as Redmi Note 7? Thinking of getting a case from the 7 normal line but want to make sure it’ll fit.
havoc is amazing
I was hoping the RN7 Pro would come out with more network bands so I can finally replace the RN3P. Unfortunately, no band 28 support is a disappointment. Maybe the global version will have it, if I can wait that long
My Redmi Note 4 has a bend on it from carrying a microfiber cloth on the case with the phone.
Why no Redmi 7 Pro though?
6” my ass.
The RN7 is finally an objective upgrade over any other previous RN phone. I would never change rn3 for 4-5-6, you even lose gpu power doing it, while the 7 is an all around upgrade.
Going from the 6 to the 7 is a good upgrade, even just the SD636 with adreno 509 (even the rn3 had a better gpu) vs SD675 with adreno 612 is already enough to upgrade, considering the price point.
Where are u from
Tons of phones under $100 have NFC and have done for years. It’s not a premium feature, it’s been mostly standard for years. They’ve expanded the target audience and its very much expected in the UK/EU to the point where people assume all smart phones have it.
How is snapchat? Even on the alpha on my LG G4 it’s one of the main reasons I want to upgrade to the RN7 or RN7P. And battery life, that too.
Ye and rn3 was good phone. He has fine system to test screen scratches but doing bend test with hands its not measurable. He shouls build something that use same amount of Newtons.
I know 4 people that use the RN3 today and none of them bent but yeah it could happen. Wish Xiaomi would invest more into the build quality.
Same issue here, not as bad for me. The 100% cpu utilization from GCam just killed mine when it was low (20% or below).
Older versions of Lineage used wrong cut off voltage values and shut down to early. Newer Lineage 14.1 builds fixed that.
But I just went ahead and bought a Nohon battery that works fine for a year and was really easy to replace (no screws to undo).
It’s fine for me. Takes up to 20s to start up after a cold boot. But after that it comes up in 4-5s when not in memory and a a bit faster when in memory (shows the splash screen briefly and then loads the chats). But it’s not fluid switching to the chats screen, but other than that, it works surprisingly well considering /r/android hates the app.
Thats pretty sad.
Well it seems the more competent devs moved on from the Note 3, and those that are still contribute aren’t as experienced or try not to touch the kernel as much as possible.
I always liked the CM/Lineage way of continnuous support and the possibility to update across multiple versions of Android. I hate to wipe my phone every other week, because the dev decided to merge a incompatible change.
yeah, Poland here, this winter was kinda cold so it shut down when i was browsing reddit on the bus stop at 1°C:)
i thought about changing a battery (heard about how nohon makes good ones) and changing rom (bl unlocked, now i use some old xiaomi.eu version), but after 2.5 years i’m really inclined to buy new phone, now if my wife would accept me buying $300 phone…
