The lighting bolts and delayed thunder sound and overall view of this new weather app is just insane.

It was never a thing. Your privacy starts and ends with you.
Today Weather is so damn clean! Even the widget, I like it a lot.
I usr geometric weather. No adds and no weird permissions.
I googled and found this.
This feature is only available in India, Indonesia, and Spain.
Why are you downvoting him? He’s right
I straight up root and have access to everything. So I clean it except the call recorder and other non deletable items (like security) and use it.
Google apps are there, miui apps then 3rd party apps…. My goodness too many apps of the same kind!
It’ there since forever.
Bold of you to assume I am using the Google Weather app. Either way, it’s also not like data collection is a binary ON/OFF thing – it’s a spectrum, and chinese apps are FAR more data hungry in general. Just have a read of this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/fxgi06/not\_new\_news\_but\_tbh\_if\_you\_have\_tiktiok\_just\_get/fmuko1m/](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/fxgi06/not_new_news_but_tbh_if_you_have_tiktiok_just_get/fmuko1m/)
I have location permanently switched off on my phone for this reason. Only enable it when I need to use Maps.
Just saying, Google does that too. So what makes it any different?
It’ built in , it counts step , after a 1000 steps i matched and the error was just +3 steps and for another 100 it was -1 so i guess It’ a good feature.
The MIUI weather app doesn’t auto update for me, anyone else?
Oh, that’s nice and practical! Thank you!
That is pretty smart. What I hate the most is having those apps that I’ll never use (like music and video apps) that I can’t even delete. Currently, I just hide them using Lawnchair, but I might just do what you did to get rid of these..
Which phone?
This feature is only available in India, Indonesia, and Spain.
Ypu talk like western companies are saints. Facebook isn’t Chinese and has to be one of the worst for this sort of thing. Can we stop pretending like an apps origin country means anything?
Because Google is trustworthy and is known to keep data that is not ON the user, but mainly around the user
wish I could update to miui 12, poco gang I guess..
Well, Google is a independent company unlike Xiaomi who works under a very suspicious environment.
They don’t.
You’re right, but the fact that Chinese companies are beholden to the CCP, you should certainly be more wary of Chinese apps than apps from other markets.
They get data about what you research, apps you use, where you live, what you buy and what you watch. Then they use it to make new products that interest people like you, so they can sell more. Also they use it to show ads based on what you searched for recently, so they have a chance to earn more money. We lose our privacy so we can make other people rich. That is capitalism.
All of this is so bloated, why should one have all of this animation in an app? I prefer just a nice minimal interface without all of this
It’s the built in Xiaomi Health app.
Nice steal then, the control center also reminds me of some devices.
You might be right, thanks again
What’s the step counter?
Did you even read the post I linked earlier? It’s a matter of scale, just take a look. Either way, I am not defending apps from western countries, they are appalling too – I don’t even have Facebook on my phone. That said, Chinese apps have a track record of being more invasive. Can we stop pretending that this is not the case?
Appreciate your response, I use mi9t pro but don’t have it.
Why would a legit weather app even *need* access to phone calls?
But thats about tiktok. Just because one app is bad we shouldn’t flag them all as bad.
Fair statement
It might be that they disabled it on European phones (since yours is a Mi9T) but I’m not really sure honestly.
Reminds me of HTC maybe 5-7 years ago
You can disable (and keep updates away) all those xiaomi apps very easily. Don’t need to be root. Just install xiaomiadbfastboot tool in your PC and connect your phone. (Remember to enable adb permission in developer phone options)
*mistyping
I wouldn’t be able to say precisely, but considering they have a history of pushing ads, I would just avoid them tbh.
Yup, true. Too bad privacy on the internet isn’t a thing
how did you got that weather icon notifications?
Touché. Thanks for the info as well.
Too bad it tracks your location and other data in undesirable ways. Had to delete it off my phone.
I use Today Weather app and the first thing when I get a new redmi or flashed phone i remove all the miui apps 😀

When you do an account and use their phones you basically agree that they can use your data and sell it.
When you create a Google account, it will ask for the users agreement to use their data
As my mom says: One error does not justifies the other
Sure – that’s your preference. There are even text based forecast apps, for those who just don’t want *any* graphics.
Actually it shows a notification with a shade like that in the video background so i was curious and clicked on it and i saw this cool animation, then i went back to weather app. Yeah it doesn’t automatically start this or interrupt but when you open the app you will get it.
Are the other Xiaomi’s apps safer to use?
I have a mi9t and It’s there.
Same. Worthless in my case since I use widgets.
All Xiaomi apps have this invasive system. But it’s true, I believe Weather is the less harmful one.
This looks so neat! Might start using it on MIUI 12 (I currently use Today Weather due to the minimalism).
Not really but my Google weather does show the outside weather everyday like 2 times
I use Google’s at a glance widget for it
Where did you download it
It’s on my Redmi Note 7 Pro on MIUI 11, so I would assume all later Xiaomi phones have it.
♥
Here’s Tom with the weather.
very good looking!
