Xiaomi updated their music app and now you can listen to your downloaded music, but also songs from YouTube with your screen turned off.
Chromecast is a USB dongle from Google that you connect to your TV and use to cast media to it. I use it to watch YouTube, listen to music, watch movies etc on my TV (which is not smart (the TV (and myself))).
Did you give it the special permissions?
I didn’t know this was a thing! I immediately disregarded the base Music app when I got my phone thinking it was like any other regular music app and just downloaded Spotify immediately haha. That’s really cool of Xiaomi to do.

For me. Is Ymusic to download and stream music, omnia for listening downloaded songs. Then YouTube vanced for entertainment.
What version is your Mi Music? Can you post screenshots of the settings in the Music app that enables YouTube playback while screen is off?

Why?You know you can enable it back after?Like you disable it unpackage the things in SAI and reenable it, if you had a theme aplied just reaply it, and the icons get back to normal.
Revert to an older version of microG. Solved the issue for me
I just resort to the old fashioned way, put a piece of cardboard on top of the screen and bam problem solved.

Vanced does work, but sometimes it just don’t. And I have to reboot my smartphone and TV to make it connect.
Just lower the brightness all the way down to 1% and you are set.

You are not dependent of any apps, and it’s frankly, faster. As long as you know how to use the best torrent apps.
Just found it out today lol. I guess it came with the .7 update.
Youtube premium also allow access to youtube music, and (at least here) is cheaper than spotify.
But of course, if the argument is what’s cheaper, its best to torrent the songs and send it over to your device.
But I have youtube family for a while now, I live in Brazil and I share with some of my friend. The benefits of no ads, the youtube music app, video download and background playback is cool. I used to have deezer but quit it after that.
