>release 32 devices
Oppo itself already released 36 devices this year alone tho. And that also doesn’t count the Realme sub-brand phones.
>already confusing enough for you to understand the confusion?
To be honest, I’m not confused at all since Xiaomi branding is based on the regions, just use mi.com catalogs on your region and I’m pretty sure it isn’t that confusing.
But yeah, they could done it better.
IMO, rather than Xiaomi’s own problem, it’s Chinese brand problem in general. TechAltar kinda biased since Oppo was his ex-employer, but if it could make Xiaomi do better in branding then it’s an OK nevertheless.
I hope so
Xiaomi’s naming strategy be like
Step 1: Choose a price tier (Redmi, Redmi Note, Mi series)
Step 2: Roll 20 sided dies to choose the generation numbers and naming suffixes
Step 3: ???
Step 4: PROFIT!
It still made some sense back when I bought my Mi Max Prime but seriously, my head started hurting when I was thinking about buying my brother a phone earlier this year. The names don’t hold any meaning anymore with every phone being a Pro, Max, S variants without anything special about them over the variants that lack those letters.
past is past…who the fck cares anymore? stop moaning
but surely not confusing as much as the xiaomi that release 32 devices this year alone right? and why should he mention another brand when one brand already confusing enough for you to understand the confusion? why adding more confusion?
compared to old
I expect 13, MIUI 14 wouñd be awesome though.
I’d rather have different names than different variants with different hardware per region with the same names.
I was told it might get Android 11 and will get MIUI 13. Anyways, the MIUI updates bring bigger changes than the OS updates.
I was told my phone(mentioned) might get Android 11 and will get MIUI 13. Some older Redmi devices got 2 Android updates.
I really like videos from this guy, thanks for posting!
T’was a joke, my fella
The worst thing they do is recycle names for different phones in different regions.
Like the Redmi Note 9s in India is named Redmi Note Pro, but it’s a different phone from the Redmi Note 9 Pro in the rest of the world. It’s okay if you want to release 10 variants of the Note 9, but keep the names consistent everywhere.
Haha but you can actually see your cart and the price of it before paying right
Now? Yes they are good .. I’m talking about older phones with hundreds of names also bad products.. but now they are really good.. value for money.
These days , yes but their old models were so bad..
Now they are even making the phones actually good and value for money..
Sadly he doesn’t mention his ex-employer (Oppo)
Oppo Reno 3 have P90, P95, Dimensity 1000L, and Snapdragon 765G variant for some reason. And the performance is very difference between them.
Don’t forget the new A53 and the old A53.
Source?
If you buy your phone by email.
Samsung is pretty clear these days.
codenames are gorgeous
im using youtube vanced
also what did iphone cost?
not 200 bucks
the kicker here is that iphones released in 2014 got the latest update….
six years of software support.
for the longest time I was team android because of support.
I still like Android better for adaway and YouTube vanced thiugh
Well supportedcome on this is a joke, Mi A series, Mix Series, MI9 SE and many more with ridiculous support. Otherwise it would not be possible to release a phone literally every week. Cheap phones with good hardware but with software support that sucks balls.
Still not the best
Samsung makes sense, what do you not understand, perfectly simple
Not my experience with mi mix 2s, dropped a quite a few times screen not cracked. still works perfectly. After 2.5 years battery is starting to degrade a bit. I will swap that myself
Xiaomi use confusing numbers, but I remember Samsung back then 🤦🏻♂️
Samsung galaxy pocket
Galaxy young
Galaxy trend
Galaxy fame
Galaxy core
Galaxy grand
Galaxy cover
Galaxy beam
And etc…
Tbh Xiaomi has a divine naming of their devices compared to Sony’s…
You have a typo and go from buying the latest flagship to buying a mid-tier phone (S20-A20)
It won’t? That’s disappointing. I wish xiaomi cared about their budget line a bit more- they’re pumping out phones so often yet fail to properly support them all.
>generic names
Atleast they make more sense. What should they be named then? The iPhone X Æ A-12 Steve Jobs MAX?
>a “SE” that sucks
I’m really not an Apple fanboy but it’s a solid af phone for the price and a master stroke by them.
How is that more confusing then this galaxy of clusterfekked namings?
This one was the best
That was fucking brilliant but he forgot the blunder which is the Mi A2 Lite which also happens to be the Redmi 6 Pro. Like wtf Xiaomi, I know most Poco phones are just renamed from some Redmi phones but for a Mi phone to also be a Redmi Phone 🤣
Well, it works for them. It’s only hard to recommand someone a phone. If you say the name then the other person probably will buy the wrong one.
Redmi Note 8 Pro came out last year and already wont get Android 11
Redmi 8A Pro both lite and pro at the same time
oh yeah big brain xiaomi
Yeah seriously I wanted to post a rant yesterday about exact same issue.
i am a long time xiaomi user but their success eeems to be missguiding them
I mean their economic model seems to be working really well and tbh this is the same as what samsung and Huawei did. Flooding the market with different model to cater to every clients is what allowed these 3 brands to rise
Yep, they need to release 1 Redmi per year, one Mi and one Mi Mix every now and then. That way they could focus on software and on making those 3 phones as good as possible
Yup, the video is spot on. They released so many models last year already, but it seems they took it to the next level of retardedness this year.
I thought I was the only one confused by the naming scheme and spent hours on GSMarena trying to figure it out. They just repackage the moniker that’s hot at the moment and push the phone out to the market.
If OnePlus adds a T, they add it across the board. If iPhone adds a MAX they add it, wherever it’s slightly appropriate.
I noticed it on their website as well. There’s no single website that would cover all of the confusion. It’s usually just a bunch of microsites focused on what phone of theirs is trending and they forget about it in half a year and move on. Somebody point me towards a website that has a comprehensive overview of everything Xiaomi brands or produces.
But then again, the phones are well built and supported, so the entire marketing game is funny. It’s also not present at all Xiaomi product lines.
Great video by TA, kudos!
Really? What he forgot about samsung and asus then
if memory serves, some countries (or EU?) have a 2-3 year expected use for electronics and require any companies operating in them to support said items
i think that’s fair enough.
what do you think is a good amount of time for phones to last?
I have no input cos I normally break my phones before they live out their full lives LOL
Love this guy. He always has a very good point of view regarding these topics
xiaomi should focus on quality not quantity, most xiaomi phones are good price performance but dont last that long
This video was hilarious. Made my head hurt.
I don’t agree with him.so there’s that
