So overclocked snapdragon 865 is as powerfull as snapdragon 888 in 3d

Now overclock the Snapdragon 888 and post the results…
Woah how did u do that?
duh, you overclocked it.
Is that supposed to be surprising?
Mi 10T pro is a beast
Snapdragon 888 be like:
🔥🔥*Aight I’mma head out*🔥🔥
Not something new, I was able to overclock Poco f1’s 845 and Oneplus 5t’s 835 GPU to make them faster than 855 and 845 respectively. But the poco f1 was hot af, 835 was a bit more stable.
101 how to make a portable bomb.
You can overclock GPU with few simple steps, you do need to be rooted though.
Even the non pro version is *fonst*
Poco F1 tends to run hot apparently. The 3D Wild Life Stress Test also doesn’t show good scores for stability
Hmm, tell me more… Or ideally a link to the XDA? (I suppose there will be at least one topic about that)
It’s more of device specific, but one of the easiest generic ways is to root your device with magisk and then loading up a custom kernel with pre-valued clocks. To have a better control over the device, you can install stuff like franco kernel manager or a similar application with superuser access to overclock your GPU or adjust frequencies of your CPU etc.
Poco f1’s cooling capability wasn’t great despite “liquid cooling” marketing stuff and 845 isn’t really a cool running SoC.
People think that SD865 vs 888 makes a huge difference in performance. Day to day use, you can’t actually see the difference.
I prefer the SD865 because it heats less. The SD888 on my Mi 11 heats easily.
So it’s really just a matter of custom kernel… I’ve wanted to try custom Kennels in the past, but never really got around to do it, mainly as I’m not on a custom ROM and don’t know how it’ll play with the MIUI.eu ROM…
You don’t require a custom kernel, you can overclock your stock kernel too. Having a custom one just makes it a bit easier for beginners.
I am using mi 11 ultra . Can you tell me how much cpu temperature is normal and when it is overheating ?
I don’t have mi 11 ultra but i got Mi 10T and my device never goes past 50°C on normal use, when its on the hot sun and display on max brightness it goes to 55°C So i guess 60°C can be called overheating
ye I don’t know where u live, but I was in 36°C weather (measured in shade, so higher in sun), my phone never went to 50° even with max brightness (which is necessary cause ips panel not to bright). Thought I did turn on battery saver (which locks u at 60fps), as I had only 33% battery when I left home. Max temperature I recorded was 44°.
phone cooler exists lol
Then I think my device is not overheating because while gaming it gets warm and I have app which shows me cpu temperature and it’s always stays at 50 to 51 degrees while gaming and sometimes it goes to 53 when I play games for 1 to 2 hours . And while normal use it stays between 38 to 43 degree .
yo which kernel/custom rom are u using?
My brother uses a 845 in his Mi 8 and it stays at okay temps in CoD for sure. I, by myself only use an 835 in my Tablet and a 855 in my Phone
Then it will become a Bomb!
So my poco F3 is basically an overclocked 865?
yes, snapdragon 870 is exactly the same chipset as 865 just with higher clock speeds. Maybe they tweaked some ai too… but that is useless.
well “overheating” depends from soc to soc. What we call overheating, is a thermal limiter set by manufacturer to protect internal components. I believe snapdragon 888 is allowed to go to higher temperatures then 865. I have 144hz screen, but if it hits 45°C it will lock at 60 till it cool down to 44.2 again. So thermal throttling point for me is 45°.
it doesn’t work nearly as good as people think. I have snapdragon 865 and it keeps my soc at around 40°C. Which is fine while playing pung at 90fps, but I hadn’t overclocked my 865 yet. Also snapdragon 888 by default runs at higher temps then 865. After hitting 45°C it drops screen refresh rate to 60hz… Sooo if you want to still daily drive your phone, don’t do it!
Qualcomm locked Gpu in sd888 so is imposible so overclock
xiaomi.eu , stock kernel with konabess
i will guess konabess is software which allows u to overclock . What exactly did you overclock, only the gpu? You got fastboot unlocked and also root? I haven’t done this in a while so m lil rusty. I am actually looking into a custom rom cause my experience with stock miui is sh!t.
Yeah, konabess is a sotware that allow overclocking your Gpu and you must have rooted device
shii sounds fun, can’t wait to get to that. Do you perhaps know how to overclock cpu too?
I think it is imposible by the moment
aaaa shucks. That probably means it will be impossible forever 😹. I remember my old xperia m4 aqua… You could overclock cpu, but it was impossible to overclock gpu. Now I guess with xiaomi it is other way around. Only chance is to find kernel that already altered cpu clocks. Well thanks for all the help.
It was almost 40°C, Serbia, like a week ago.
oooo rukfaš, što maji. Haha yes I don’t know would my phone let me to that temperature.
Just a normal thing for xiaomi
wait what can u overclock phones? i dont think its very beneficial drains more battery and probably u dont play games..
Look in the play store for kernel tweaking apps… There were a few that I used in the past that allowed overclocking the CPU and the GPU separately…. You will need root in order to do so and obviously a custom recovery (twrp, etc). If I can recall the names I’ll add it later…
Does xiaomi eu keeps widevine L1? Im tempted to custom rom my wifes phone someday, and xiaomi.eu would be my first choice.
Battery life improved and temps are lower due to the undervolt
xiaomi.eu has wideline L1 for supported devices
*Snapdragon 810 flashbacks*
Xiaomi doesn’t throttle based on cpu temps if you aren’t aware. They throttle based on battery temp. The highest my soc got was about 60-70°c, and battery temp was 39-40°c. Around 40°c battery temp is when my phone started to throttle. Getting cpu to 50-55° was common when playing genshin impact
I’m not sure about how phone oc works, if the cpu and gpu is constantly being pushed then it would be quite stupid, but if the software would adjust the clock speeds depending on application it should be ok then.
You are wrong. Genshin only runs on 60fps, so you wouldn’t notice your frame rate being limited anyhow. Play pubg at 90fps, max brightness, bluetooth and location on with power monitor from dev settings. Toss some smoke granades, explosive granades and shoot like a maniac in squad quick match. You will get to 45°C in no time 😹. Then you will see how right I am. In case of genshin, next step to throttling is screen brightness, if phone keeps heating up even after refresh rate is limited, screen brightness will be lowered. At that point, I believe they already had dropped the clock speeds too.
I have a POCO F3 that uses the SD870 which is supposed to be an improved overclocked version of the SD865+, and I’m pretty happy. The performance over time is greater than the SD888 due to the SD888 overheating a lot after a while.
I’ve also tried overclocking poco F3 but overheats like hell unless you underclock cpu like a normal sd 865
Well, technically it’s already an overclocked 865+ which is already an overclocked 865.
I keep my L1 on my MI 10T with Xiaomi.eu 12.5.1 stable. I also somehow keep it after switching to ArrowOS and Nusantara OS…
What about the 860 on the X3 pro?
Tnx

Hi Apusenior! Could you possibly share your config file or show us your Konabess config 🙂

How? I have a LG g7 with a 845 and i feel like i can get more of it
Konabess won’t work on 845 right??
I was doing GPU oc back in 2014 on a mediatek chip that didn’t even have a unlocked bootloader. I discovered it myself how to it by tweaking some PLL files in the engineer menu. This seems similar as it doesn’t need a recompiled kernel and any values can be chosen
guess should’ve kept quiet about it… now every single chip is locked down since 870. screw you QC !
don’t worry not anymore !
