So I tried the Google Camera HDR+ on my Mi A1. Left: stock camera app, Right: GCHDR+.

That’s actually insane
How did you made it work?
Sexy af
could you please provide link for the apk and possibly settings if needed? a friend of mine has A1, he will be so glad to have this.
how?
How? Just got my gf the same phone. She’d love it.
You need root access for starters
Shouldn’t be a problem, just don’t think google updates would stick, rather not root my Gf’s phone if I can help it.
On my Redmi Note 4 Auto HDR+ doesn’t fix overexposed areas but HDR+ enhanced.
How did you get Auto HDR+ to work ?
I’ve heard of some people unlocking the bootloader, activating camera 2api (which allows 3rd party camera apps) then relocking the bootloader and it sticking, and then everything being done thereafter, but probably best looking over on XDA forums for stuff like this tbh
Unlock the bootloader (which I think wipes data unlike on other Xiaomi phones) download Magisk to the Downloads folder on the phone.Flash the Magisk from TWRP then install the Magisk Camera2 enabler module. Then download a Google camera mod APK
Can it work with a meizu m2 note?
Maybe the only way to test or see if it worked for anyone else
What? Even though with GCam the photo looks way better, this is still an atrocious camera. I believe my Moto G3 takes better pictures in day light than the Mi A1 and we’re talking about a 2015 phone.
I didn’t. I also use HDR+ enhanced.
I know right?
Just followed the guide I saw on xda forum.
I didn’t save the links actually. Just search it through the xda forum.
Just followed a guide on xda forum.
Auto HDR+ is supposed to fix the overexposed areas but it doesn’t seem to work in this port.Does Auto HDR+ work for you ?
You won’t be able to update via OTA unless you use Magisk which preserves the original boot.
It didn’t seem to work for me too.
LOL…every expert is rating Mi A1’s camera above moto phones and here you bragging how your phone would have done better than A1.
I use this: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
You can find the recommended settings somewhere via Google.
No, it needs a specific DSP used in certain snapdragon CPUs. Your phone has a mediatek CPU.
Man I might buy this phone in some days , currently using redimi note 4 it’s a beast phone as well , how is mi A1 front camera? And I know mia1 is a beast af phone .
> Unlock the bootloader (which I think wipes data unlike on other Xiaomi phones)
It doesn’t (I did this two days ago).
Isn’t your data open to phone theives then since you don’t need to sign in like Mi Unlock
I am curious about why they decided not to force a wipe, even though basically every other OEM does this. It was convenient for me at the time because I’d already done some setup I didn’t feel like doing again, but still…
I have tried to install that on mi6 but none of them is working. It always crash when I try to use it
It didn’t wipe data on Redmi devices I unlocked in the past but it did wipe data on my mi note 3.
Yes
You use HDR on Xiaomi Camera app?
Front cam is not bad.
Can you please link the XDA post? Thanks in advance.
Some people say it doesn’t require the DSP that without the DSP it’s just slower to process
Redmi devices require you to sign in with your Mi account but the Mi A1 doesn’t so it’s a security risk maybe we should report it to Xiaomi.
Then this picture isn’t in favor of A1, maybe the settings on GCam aren’t quite good and need more tweaking.
I read up a while back on Ryan Geiss’s website on how he wrote the code (or helped). He is a freaking genius, did stuff like milk drop and a lot of other optimization on early graphics cards and then did the kinect for Xbox. He’s now at Google doing stuff on the HDR+ camera software. Incredible how most of this is just software and no better lenses or sensors required.
Yes
Hi. I can’t seem to find the XDA post anymore but you can try [this](https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/install-google-camera-hdr-xiaomi-mi-a1/) guide.
Takes around 5-10 seconds if I take a HDR+ photo which locks me out from taking other photos in the process. I’m using the LG V10 which has the 808 and is 32bit.
More ram and Ram with android one 😋 . But battery is kinda lower than redimi note 4 🙄😡
If you use Auto HDR config as Nexus 6P it works what are you using ? The Pixel settings don’t seem to fix the overexposed areas with Arnova APK
I use BGS. 😊
Hello. You may refer to the comment by /u/otaku_helicopter in this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/7mlf2z/how_do_i_install_google_camera_on_mi_max_2/?utm_source=reddit-android)
Thought someone said it didn’t work with dual camera phones.
It works in phones with dual cameras. But it only utilizes the wide angle one. Telephoto lens is ignored.
hardware output is still the same, it’s imagine processing that’s being changed here.
