Was looking at the specs of the upcoming POCO F5. It seems to be equipped with a rather Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip instead of going with a series 8 chip. So, I got down to thinking a little deeper about this move. Turns out SG 7+ Gen2 is a down clocked version of 8+ Gen 1. Got the same architecture as the latter but performance is significantly better over flagship chips such as the Snapdragon 875. Read somewhere that the “Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 is over 50% faster than the Snapdragon 778G in Geekbench 5 single-core but is also 38% ahead in Geekbench 5 multi-core.”
Power consumption is more effective than before. I thought maybe the gaming experience would suffer especially when trying mobile ports of AAA games, but then again, gaming performance also appears to be stable unless prolonged for way too long.
Overall, it’s just the peripheral specifications which have shrunk, quite frankly, in comparison. I wonder if this is the reason why it’s able to maintain a strong performance without overheating or at times even exceeding the top chips at the moment.
Anyway, what are your overall thoughts about POCO F5?
Yeah right. The poco phones might be awesome for that money but if you use a high end device daily you wont be happy with it.
Same, redmi note 4x long ago has stopped being good enough for me
I’ve had some xiaomi phones over these years and I am still using 11T Pro. I am never going to buy this brand again. For me the problems are too many major bugs and instable phone, i’m willing to spend more money for a phone like samsung than to encouter these pesky bugs.
7+ gen 2 is an underclocked 8+ gen 1; it’s better than 8gen1 or lower, slightly worse than 8+ gen 1 and worse than 8 gen 2; it’s still a very good chip. I think it’ll depend on the price, if it will be under €500 it’s gonna be a very good phone
Where did the widgets go after the MIUI 14 update? The widgets, specially the calendar and tasks widgets cannot be found on my widgets bar.
I have nearly 37 pounds off in pints and 33 off in points on voucher + the 5 pound voucher.
I’m wondering if I could sell my mint condition F3 8/256 for 199 with origional everything and nearly a year of warantee left.
Or if I got the early bird price with the vouchers and points if it would be worth reselling in eBay. What would be more popular the F5 or F5 pro?
My gf is visiting family in china and will be back in just over 3 weeks.
I’m wondering if she buys note turbos and K60 phones that are a lot cheaper can she put the F5/F5pro ROM or global K60 ROM and lock the bootloader or will it just brick the phone ?
Or would I have to use a Chinese ROM set to English and install Google apps on it or download the EU rom and keep the bootloader unlocked so banking apps work fine ?
It’s interesting to see that the POCO F5 is equipped with a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip instead of a series 8 chip. I’m curious to see how this affects its overall performance and if it’s a wise move for the company.
I don’t think poco f5 will be available in the usa.
If it retails for less than £400 here in the uk then I’ll be having one. It’ll be a steal for the spec. Could easily be well over £400 though maybe?
Been looking at the note 12 turbo/poco f5 for weeks now. It seems to be the perfect phone for my needs.
But if you think about the camera, your xiaomi 12 pro has a way better one than any readme…
With early bird discount poco f5 12gb+258GB is 399€ in Germany!
Overall, I’m interested in seeing how the POCO F5 performs in the market. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip may be a smart move for the company, but it remains to be seen if it can compete with other smartphones in its price range.
Yes, it looks interesting.
Did you check the updated results from geekerwan? https://www.socpk.com/cpu curve/ Somehow it is More efficient than 8+ until 7w and matches gpu until 4.2 w
If it retails usd 400 and below, maybe.
I don’t play a lot of mobile games but maybe I’m interested if something new that I’m I to comes out
I have no idea what consoles my current 8/256 F3 global (UK) can play?
What would be the latest games consoles I could emulate with my 8/256 F3?
Can the sd870 emulate windows or run windows ?
I got my F3 8/256 about a year and a few months ago for 183 pounds (it came with a dual use mouse) global ROM and a 2 year UK warranty also a 1 time accidental screen replacement for the first 6 months.
Every update has made it better I’m getting about 1300 single core on GB6 and at least 3350 multi core
But sometimes the single core will be lower end multi fire higher.
Never had a problem with it can is fine for me and I know Xiaomi makes a 33w 5,000mha battery that will fit.
On eBay even F3 8/256 with some scratches are sell for about 199.
I’m not sure if it will drop price used alot soon no idea…
I have nearly 40 pounds worth if vouchers and points I can use plus the 5 pounds off.
I’m wondering since I have 80% off eBay fees if it would be profitable to just get one to resell.
Do you think the F5 or F5pro will be more popular to resell.
In the UK we only have the 12/256 for both
No 512 ROM or 14/16gb ram.
My gf is visiting family in china and will be back in just over 3 weeks.
I’m wondering if she buys note turbos and K60 phones that are alot cheaper can she put the F5/F5pro ROM on it and lock the bootloader
Or would I have to use the FBI esr ROM set to English eithbtootkr I rteklrr or download the EU rom and keep the bootloader unlocked so banking apps are safe to use ?
Poco F5 (as maybe you already know) is the Redmi note 12 Turbo.
Which is incredible and if it came for less than $350 k($400 is more possible) on global, it would be the new Poco F1/X3P popularity wise being WAY better than both (the time gap is huge too).
If i didn’t already have a 8 gen 1/Xiaomi 12 Pro device i would completely buy it tbh, and depending if F5 pro comes with 8 gen 1/8+ gen 1 extend my budget.
been using for months and I must say its really good
I think there’s OneUI GSIs and other ROMs out there for you to take a look. They should be less buggy.
