In custom roms you can combo Mi A2 camera mod and gcam for best results.

Has anyone managed go get the Magisk Module to work on MIUI? It seems to not work for me and all others I found on XDA.
Works great on AOSP-based ROMs.

I’m not sure but I don’t think so. I haven’t really been following MIUI as I haven’t used it for about a month now.
I think needs rooting. I need help too!
You do need to do either adb or rooting stuff. I havent tried adb but if you have magisk i think there’s a flashable zip out there somewhere. You could do what I did and just manually edit build.prop though.

Mi a2 camera
Google camera
Google camera is the best but it lacks frontcan hdr+ which makes hassle to close hdr+ for front each time.
I use gcam for back camera,mi A2 for front.Hmd was worst but it can shoot 4k 30 fps video on custom if i recall right.
Oh man I don’t know how to do either if those properly I did do some adb stuff to root one of my phones. If it’s adb I can do something but custom ROMs are uncharted territory to me.
As far as i can tell,all gcam have problems with front on whyres,but if you disable hdr+ it would work.
Anyway,i used this version on miui 9 miui 10 aosip 8 Android p Gsi,pixel exprience P,etc etc.so far no issue.maybe the file you downloaded had peoboem,download agian.

It didn’t affect my stock camera from when i was in miui and it doesnt affect me in the aosp extended rom either. I haven’t tried the adb method though, but it should be fine.
But i didnt try mi A2 camera on official ROM since its not different than stock camera.

Can you? Isn’t like the first step of installing the Mi A2 camera to uninstall GCam? I haven’t tried it personally but it did say in the instructions to do just that.

The sunlight color on the ocean looks weird
But it got compressed and lost its details while uploading.
It’s been 3 months i’m using this google camera,i can assure you it’s far far better than stock.
But i can upload comparison photos if you want.

Hm this gives me the problem while parsing package error. Which rom are you using? I can’t take HDR front cam pictures with the version of gcam I have, which is really annoying me.

The usual stuff. Front HDR, and front portrait mode.
On a completely unrelated note though, using the fingerprint sensor when the screen is off adds like a second of delay. Apparently its just an issue with aosp roms in general. So keep that in mind when installing a custom rom.
