Yea I guess Note 8 never get hot even on heavy use + charging + weather 170ْ ( xiaomi explains the cpu power like that 🙂 )
The Note 8 isn’t much better and Note 8 Pro is not worth getting IMO.
FFFFUUUUUU I got a Note 7 five days ago and still waiting for it to arrive!
>That’s basically it! There is no massive upgrade.
That was in the post you were replying to.
I’m with you on the bloated product line; it seems like the Chinese manufacturers are desperately trying not to look like they don’t have the latest and greatest at the lowest price. It lately seems like there’s a huge “launch” of a new phone happening every 3–6 months. Mi CC9, 9T, 9T Pro, 9, 9 EE, 9 SE—it’s slowly getting confusing. And that’s just one manufacturer.
i use the same sim for both the call and data. my country haven’t support VoLTE which means if you receive calls they will switch over to 2G to receive calls
Its from the redmi note line, their not flagship phones nor are they flagship killers
If you want nfc or amoled get the mi 9
Oof sry my bad
Fine. I didn’t think about it.. **😅**
Half of the video is he playing PUBG at x2 speed…
Do people really play that much in mobile?
Cancel it
What? Forces OEMs to pay for kernel sources?
How do you expect xiaomi them to develop their own ROMs for their own phones without it?
Kernel sources are no longer the reason why custom ROMs aren’t a thing for xiaomi devices. Redmi 6/6a were mediatek devices and they had their kernel sources released without an issue.
Another option is k30 . With 5g support i think.
Where can anyone outside of China order the special WoW edition phones?
I think Note 7 pro would be a better option to choose if it gets a price drop
Quick answer: If the phone has a Mediatek chip, forget about custom ROMs
Exactly
I think it’ll be a China exclusive… Asia, as you know, is a very populated region and they’re very well known for their talents and their addiction in games. Good news is that there was this Hatsune Miku limited edition a few years ago, people somehow managed to get their hands on a few. I think you can obtain those via Chinese online markets but it won’t officially be offered in retailers (most likely).
Your country doesn’t have 3g? If you’re on lte and receive a call you’re supposed to drop to 3G
Sad to see it still has a notch.
I’m seriously considering ordering the CC9, I have no problem with Miui. But the price is steeper for a phone then I have ordered from China then ever before. Never needed warranty but it would be my luck to need it now.
True. It’s pretty much the same in many ways.but it is kind of an upgrade if compared to last year’s phone (Redmi Note 5). But all in all, I do believe they release way too many phones too often with little changes from one to the next one.
No, you don’t understand. It’s 40% cheaper than k20 and Samsung’s a30 has exynos 7904 with Mali G71 MP2 which is pretty old and weaker than adreno 509 (sd636)
They are specifically targeting people who play games and want adreno 618 type performance for cheaper price. A30 is neat if you want amoled for the same price and don’t play games.
Thanks for that explanation!
I’m willing to get a notch if it means cheaper phone. One of the key feature of the new g90 and g90t is that you can get calls without your data turning off. That’s big for me as sometimes i get calls in the middle of the game and my game disconnected
Check every Xiaomi smartphone with a Mediatek chip. The only few custom roms available are based on the stock MIUI rom or are extremely buggy. Never get a Mediatek phone if you want to be able to use custom roms, for the simple reason that they don’t release kernel sources, and when they do, they are EXTREMELY broken.
lol, that one should already be released by 2025.
Or note 14 on feb 2020
Literally the only downfall. Still, a great set of hardware!
I am still on my Mi5 here. Don’t think that this SoC could be considered slow even by today standarts. I think that’s the reason to choose a high end SoC, future proof. I am half way through my second battery and definitely see going through one more.
But for a 2 year and change habit, it is really nonsense.
There’s one for Redmi Note 7. If you can’t wait just buy the Reno 7 version.
Is that happening when one sim you are using for data and other for call? I use single sim 4g only network and i can take calls and play online games simultaneously. Did i miss something?
Actually, why arent you suggesting the mi 9t normal cuz if the redmi note 8 is good enough why wouldnt the mi 9t normal
so in a nutshell, mediatek do comply with GPL, but instead of doing it the right way, they chose to comply with the broken kernel instead of real kernel, am i right?
No SD card support on the 9t pro aswell. I’m probably going for the note 8, shame about that Mediatek Pro though.
I know right? Yet people can’t stop complaining! I think this is probably the best thing you will get for that price. Of course, they can ALWAYS do more, but it still seems to be an excellent device…
is it fullscreen?
Mi CC9 is what the Mi A3 Pro shoulda, woulda, coulda been if it was ever released. It’s a Chinese import with great specs, but without Android One sadly. Still keeping my hopes up it gets released. The Mi A3 (720p) is pretty much the Mi CC9e so it would be a lite version if the Pro ever got released.

67k gpu score
https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/19/04/snapdragon-730-665-antutu/-640/gsmarena_002.jpg
63k gpu score.
Both tests are done on antutu V7. Antutu and geekbench are the only 2 benchmarks i have seen on this phone so far
lmao wtf
gonna stick with my RN3P
Cant understand how few percents in synthetic test can give you something for buying a new phone. Maybe like 2fps in game? Liquid cooling only because its MTK with it power consumption and heating
Exactly my thoughts, regular Note 8 is going to be dev heaven, while the pro will sell, but won’t create such a big fanbase as it’s snapdragon sibling due to the lack of development
Mediatek forces OEMs to pay for the kernel sources, which in turn, makes Xiaomi unable to publish said sources (As Mediatek do not publically release sources). Custom roms on Mediatek phones are most times modified stock roms or extremely broken aosp roms that never get fixed because of the horrible resources devs have to work with
Edit: typos
MTK are dicks and wont release the kernel source necessary to make custom ROMs
> … a 48MP (Samsung GM-1) quad rear camera setup. The quad-camera setup also features an 8MP ultra-wide snapper, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera.
Did a quick youtube/google search on Samsung GM-1. and the reviews seem so and so on Galaxy A9 ([example](https://youtu.be/H73WovAn1dc)).
Oh that’s good! We also have a few xiaomi stores and official Xiaomi customer support etc but we didn’t even get 9T Pro yet (I think that should be the K20 Pro, the supposedly Pocophone F1 successor). The only limited edition versions released in my country were I do believe those EE editions of flagship Mi series, Mix 2S White and Mix 3 with some awkward finish that they even giveaway this interesting statue in the box the name was “Forbidden City” or something like that. If your Xiaomi store also sells some of these, then you can hopefully see WoW Edition in retailers as well.
Also, I do get your concern. That’s also what I think about shopping online from Chinese stores, I’m currently an iPhone owner but I’m hoping to make my switch back to android sometime soon. OnePlus is my primary choice on the matter, but every now and then Xiaomi teases me with tempting surprises.
Lastly, I would suggest you to keep an eye on Indian market, that’s a very tempting market for Chinese OEMs since they have a huge fanbase there. If India gets WoW edition, probably EU will get it as well. That being said, I haven’t seen anything beyond Mi series EE, Mix 3 Forbidden City kind of special in EU countries, unfortunately…
Wait until they release the Pro SE with 710 snap.
>it packs a Snapdragon 665
Even worth the upgrade? is it something else than a faster 660? which at the same time afaik is just a faster 636
Lol np. I’d wait for realme xt’s amoled + sd712 if k20 is out of my budget.
Please read what I said.
Do you think its gonna be avaliable in the EU ?
How G90 is better than sd730? Like +5%? They both are not top tier gaming CPUs
The K20 also has a vapor chamber. That’s why the center of the phone will warm up under heavy use, despite the fact that the SoC is beside the camera module. Also I don’t think the G90T will be much better than the 730 performance wise.
I need that limited edition World of Warcraft model Xiaomi, you’re forcing my hand here!!!
The K20 pro has a vapor chamber (I’m using one right now) but I guess the regular K20 might not.
I’ll wait 10 years for the Redmi Note 1000 Pro with 12TB Ram, 256TB Storage, 30 Day Battery with one charge, Hologram call support, still no Netflix widevine L1 support though
Holy sht, two phones in same year. Xiaomi don’t sleep.
Redmi Note 8 Pro full review,
See this:
I’m waiting for Mi Max 5 Ultra T and Pocophone F50 + Redmi 50T whichever come 1st
i don’t mind that. i have 64gb on my mi 5s plus and its enough. if its full, its usually because of residual apps of which i’ll just format and reinstall everything.
the reason i am doubting on buying a flagship is i don’t see the benefit of buying more powerful SoC anymore. sure my current phone SoC (snapdragon 821) is slow by today’s standard but it still is good enough even for PUBG mobile which is the heaviest thing i do. the problem is for some reason the battery drain is so terrible on my phone. i tried everything from changing ROM, changing battery and it still doesn’t fix it.
so for me, i will upgrade this phone soon even though the SoC is still very very good (if no battery issue i can use it for another year). so buying another flagship class SoC is not worth it for me as i will switch anyway before the SoC felt slow
Long answer?
Well that sucks, there is xioami store in the city so i was hoping that when redmi note 8 pro gets released here, i would be able to buy the WoW version of it.
I dont think i will risk buying it off a chinese website
It has been explained on my other comments
Holly damn, that’s true, I wanted to buy the 7 but not now, thanks for the info
i think Ill go with CC 9
kinda like the super amoled thingy
Is the body plastic?
But it appears that the SD665 can actually handle 48MP snapshots, so that’s a nice upgrade for less money then a Note 7
Such a poor man😇
Redmi logo is on the chin of Note 8 but not on the chin of Note 8 Pro.
I took the photo from Xiaomi’s microblog.

Less than zero
It was known that the presentation is today for about 2 weeks. It’s your own fault 😉
I’ll wait for note 15 until next July
Hope the pro will have a global version unlike note 7 that didn’t.
A great example would be Redmi Note 3 (Mediatek version). Wow, okay. Now I get it. Even if it sells like hot cake, can’t expect much development. This ultimately makes the regular Note 8 your best bang for buck.
Too bad, probably wont recommend this because when I look to buy a phone, my #1 priority is “does it have a good custom rom development?”
dont cry
Won’t buy it because of the MediaTek SoC. I use custom ROMs and a phone which supports them is important for me.
He doesn’t mention if it has a MicroSD slot or not
Yes… I know, I have the phone… But there’s still a tempered glass that blackout the edges (including the chin). One of them is Nillkin Amazing XD CP+.
I know it’s a stupid products, I also wonder why they made it in the first place…
why not? Should I wait for note 8 pro or buy note 7?
Flagships: *exist*
Redmi Note series: no
bro, my screen broke. Thats the only reason Im searching for a new mi phone
Gonna stick w my Mi9
The Redmi Note series is a tier below the K series. Why would you want a downgrade?
im disappointed by note 8 series
note 8 no nfc ,ugly front branding, no amoled
Note 8 Pro no amoled aswell, mediashit processor
Selling my week old Redmi Note 7 128gb variant 🙁
No news about miui 11?
Yeah, I own Redmi Note 3 MTK and I can tell you one thing – Mediatek never again. Best rom is the last [Xiaomi.eu](https://Xiaomi.eu) one…
But that wide angle lens and macro lens are tempting. (and better battery life too).
All I want to know does it have a notification LED
it shipped already anyway
I know how you feel. It will be a slight gamble ordering it from overseas when it comes to warranty. You might get some protection if you order it on a Credit Card. I’ve never tried a phone with MIUI, but I’d rather have Android for sure. Just make sure you can definitely use your phone networks frequency/bands with it. If I remember rightly you can buy them on eBay and it tells you which Rom and how to get GP on the device or if it’s preloaded. If you buy one let me know what it’s like! I’m so tempted.
Yeah, 2 phones from the Redmi Note Series per year is too much, but it is a good upgrade from the RN5,
Just sell out, like Blizzard did.
The note 8 pro back reminds me alot of the pocophone
Hope they still keep the micro sd vard slot and a notification light
I’m wondering how the development of Custom Firmwares would be with Mediatek onboard of the Note 8 Pro.
No, what i think is i could’ve gone for a weaker chipset at the time (Snapdragon 650?) And be fine with it as I’m going to switch soon.
The battery life is unbearable even with the new battery. I can get 2 hours of SoT if I’m lucky.
This Snapdragon 821 just shows that most apps aren’t getting much more demanding anymore. That means i can settle down with Snapdragon 730 and be fine with it. The extra 25% to buy a mi9T pro (from mi9T) is just isn’t worth it.
And I’m hyped (though worried at the battery life) for the new G90T in redmi note 8 pro. It’s manufactured in 12nm (which is only a bit more efficient than 14nm on Snapdragon 821) compared to 8nm on Snapdragon 730 but is significantly more powerful
not interested in 5G speeds. in fact i even used data plan that limits my speed at 3mbps (regardless of connection) but with no data cap. i have no problem using slower network since my wifi at home is fast enough (100mbps)
The MediaTek chip is a deal-breaker for me, no custom rom support
WHats a CC9? And why do I feel like its not in the price range of a redmi?
Is the performance of Redmi Note 8 Pro better than snapdragon 730?
In what world do people expect massive upgrades to a phone line within 6 months of each other’s release?
If you want massive upgrades you’ll have to spend more than $250, too.
Mediatek socs are bad, go for the Note 8, snapdragon
my rn3p charging port died so i have ordered the n7, RIP
Any information regarding storage? UFS 2.1 ?
I’m still waiting on the Redmi 7 Pro…
Doesn’t it also have NFC? For 150 that’s super great.
Edit: Ok apparantly no NFC. Well, that would’ve been too great I guess. :p
Why do you want to replace your Mi 9T?
>Not waiting for the Note 20
Plebs…
Fuck that no custom roms no Freedom
It has a notification light but behind the back cover
The engineer was drunk
I have a redmi note 7 64gb + 4gb and if i had to buy a new phone i’m almost sure that i’ll buy the redmi nore 8 with the snapdragon cpu since I had multiple mediatek procesors in the past being the last one the helio x10 on the redmi note 2 and they are great at first but once they are a little bit old everything starts to be slow(i think it was due to thermal throttle) and you won’t be able to find a good custom rom with the mediateck cpu (in fact it’s rare if you recive an oficial android update)
Apart from that at least the helio x10 was a very power hungry cpu so it had a low autonomy and also the phone was hot if you compare it with phones with other cpus. I don’t know if they have improve or something like that but even than in the paper the redmi note 8 pro is better I won’t buy it since I don’t trust mediatek anymore.
Yeah, but its almost the same as the Redmi Note 7, slightly better cameras and CPU. We have to wait and see for the official price in Europe, which will probably be around $180, and then the price of the RN7 will drop. RN7 offers a better value imo
Redmi Note 7 and Note 8 are almost the same…
Yeah Europe in general is a bit backwards, but it’s coming. It’s ok-ish to use in Switzerland right now. Ofc it could be better… I mean looking at the big picture, it’s still unnecessary.
But hey as for having NFC on a phone, I guess if you really want it, you’ll be fine with paying 100-200 Dollars more.
Yes, but not me though. I don’t even have casual game installed on my phone. The people around me, friends..colleague all played mobile game.. Pubg, mobile legend, coc and others. They seem to heavily invested in it too. Buying in game items and all.
I am gonna wait till December for the Note 9
Like you said, the person responsible for the sources is not mediatek but xiaomi.
But Xiaomi has to have the original source code as they have to compile their firmware for release.
If it’s broken or incomplete, the blame is not on mediatek but on xiaomi else they themselves cannot compile it.
For the Redmi 6, from what I’ve read there are some stuff broken but it was easily fixed. This trend of semi-broken sources ain’t new too from xiaomi (Redmi 3s had it too which was Qualcomm based.)
So again, sources are not a reason why the custom ROMs are not a thing.
yeah they could atleast add an amoled display 🙂
like samsung does with thier A series
In not into custom roms but i curious why customs are not possible on mediatek
this guy gets it😂
Xiaomi continues to stagnate the market! :/
Note 8 = Note 7 with 4 cameras
That’s basically it! There is no massive upgrade.
It will only be interesting if you really, really like photography.
I think the Note 7 will remain the budget king of 2019!
Because the price will go down and it will be impossible to find such a stacked device for that price.
No it has a water drop notch.
