Is Band 20 necessary? How can i find out if i need it?
Yeah but no band 4, hence why I’m asking for the not-pro
Well fuck, stick with xiaomi then
Tons of chinese and euro phones don’t have band 4 because you have to pay a license and its only used in the american continent where supposedly those phones wont be sold
waiting for small battery and no jack?
honor 10, mix 2s
what costlier phone has 4000mAh battery? because only thing they will accomplish it’s losing me as customer
honor play, Samsung m20, honor 10 lite etc
not B20
honor play it’s closest, then maybe mix 2s but that’s already stretching budget and no jack plus weak battery
Depends on the bands. Yes.
If I just plan to use 3g and have att, will I have any problems using the Chinese version? I can still use custom ROMs right?
They don’t exist because you can’t unlock meizu bootloaders
if you are in the USA Xiaomi is not really an option unless you want to buy their flagship phones. The lower cost phones under $200 or $150 which have some good hardware specs just don’t offer the carrier frequencies that you need. .. Now if you live in a city you might be able to get away with one band working on a lower cost model but if you are in the distant suburbs / rural areas like I am those frequencies just aren’t available or they are very poorly covered.
so even if you live in the city and go to the beach or on a trip of some kind you basically have no service.
With the Samsung I do have decent service.. I paid like $99 on black friday for a $175 phone .. it doesn’t have much ram or rom.. it has a weak camera, no finger print or face recognition and I only got that price because it is carrier locked for a year and CDMA ..
But I had no other option..
There is no way in hell I am paying $1000-$1500 for a phone but when I can get a $150 phone from Xiaomi with so much more than what a $150 phone from samsung offers … i mean what do I say?
Sorry I can’t buy it because you aren’t enabling the frequencies…
I have no choice
No worries 👍
At this price nothing else
6 months release cycle
That’s a great site, thank you for sharing!
Definitely going for the note 7 then.
Audio jack, 4000mah, expandable memory, and cheaper than mi8 lite – Done ✅
I’m considering either mi 8 lite or a note 7 global.
According to kimovil both phones have full Australian coverage
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/AU/redmi-note-7
It’s crazy to me that Kenzo was only 3 years ago but the model numbers didn’t reflect that. We’re up to 7, what?
Its done on purpose so the cheapies don’t disturb the market for the more expensive models.
For cheap Xiaomi phones, band 4 is the only compatible band for US networks and without it, it won’t have connectivity to the cell towers.
Way too big.
Calls people idiots, uses terms like lmao and then tells to chill. Learn to write like an adult first.
As for envy, read the comment again (in addition to not being able to write as well), Why would anyone literate and informed of reality from India be envious of West.
West is in terminal decline in general anyway but one doesn’t even have to bring that here because the context of this post itself is defining enough.
If I can find all services and products in my own country why would I want to move anywhere else.
And lastly a lot of Indians ( online or otherwise) and others from regions formerly under European colonial rule are justifiably critical of the West because they caused genocidal timelines in these places and did not pay the consequences for that damage and now don’t even recognise in true/good faith the scale of damage done.
Even though the current generation still in West reaps of those advantages since it’s cumulative and similarly current generation in former colonies are saddled with those disasters again with cumulative forces.
So to sum up, you can’t read, can’t write, seem illiterate and can’t think critically either.
Stick to subs content or mature yourself. Good day.
Yeah but this is the Pro version. SD 675. Equal single core performance to the 845.
The Poco F1 community is big. The phone is listed as top four on the XDA forum (along with OnePlus 6T, Galaxy Note9 and Pixel 3 XL).
The camera quality on mi 8 and mix 2s is good (actually better than Poco F1, if you stay with the stock ROM).
But the Poco F1 is cheaper and if you plan to go with custom ROM (as I do), the camera is on par with the others.
Good, what about custom ROMs?
They’d rather spend the resources to produce them for their important markets. There’s only so many they can crank out to meet demand. They’re focusing heavy on India and China. Its their biggest markets. Also they don’t wanna cannabilaze sales from other models. They probably want to sell more premium and pricier products in the west. People here aren’t as concerned about value here and we have more money to spend
On their lowest end phones that are like 100 dollars yes. Otherwise its snapdragon
> Yeah I passed on it because of that.
I plan on keeping my Nexus 6 as a “dumb” phone and use the pocophone as a wifi smart phone 😀
Meizu still using mtk?
If you’re stateside is the same problem
They made 276 Million profit according to reports last week or so. But the important factor was that this figure was Triple from the previous year.
Xiaomi are making money, one has to remember it is a very new company with a very odd business model, which others replicated to an extent but not entirely because Oppo isn’t making sleeping pillows and rice cookers.
Yeah I passed on it because of that.
In the US and the Americas no band 4 is a no deal
Well that’s a shame, is the RN7 even worth upgrading for RN5/6 users? isn’t the 660 just a faster 636?
Usually the Google Pixel or the LG G7 ThinQ is the last phone of the bunch, no?
I’ll buy on Amazon (for obvious warranty and fast shipping) and the Poco F1 is often discounted. The price gap with mix 2s or mi8 will be over 20%…
The Poco F1 has a good community on XDA (I’ll use a custom ROM on it – pixel experience) and this phone as a very similar hardware/camera to the Google Pixel 3. I’m looking for a good camera phone.
Plus, the huge 4000mAh battery…
> 40% of xiaomi business
Is xiaomi even making reasonable profit ? Or they sell at such cutthroat prices Chinese style they barely make even but just market share ?
Next will be the Mi 9 SE. Fucking idiots.
This was almost as confusing as the topic. The push to make it global could cover the spread to which they are “losing”. It doesn’t have to be a priority. How much longer would it take a couple people to make a global version? It wouldn’t slow down production of the phone and it definitely wouldn’t slow sales down in China or India. It wouldn’t effect that even in the slightest. I believe everyone else nailed the answer when they said it’s more of a greed thing (great business move). They dangle a note 7 in front of everyone. Make it look untouchable. Then four months of everyone, exluding India and China, go bananas from being note 7 hungry, they drop the pocofone. They make that phone even more crazy and a higher price point. Boom! Then all the people who missed out on the note 7 gets their fix and now both China and India need the Pocofone because it’s even better than the note 7. Consumer habits are pretty funny.
Yep, I saw many different opinions about SOT in this phone, some says it’s only 6 hours (but with playing at PUBG for some time), others that they got 10 hours. Dunno.
I disagree. It could have gone either way. Im glad for the clarification. I thought it was a good touch. It was a verbal rollcoaster and I just wish I had another ticket for another go around. That was intense.
Take it with a grain of salt but someone here recently said he felt the battery life on the rn7 pro was worse than the rn3p and rn5p after using the 7 for one week
Haha since it’s cheaper I’m inclined to believe it will be the last 855 phone released of this cycle 😛
You’re right. So I would decrease 2 months till next release down to 1 month.
But in all seriousness, I think it was released at the end of February in India. And here in Russia, it’s gonna release in 3 days.
Yeah I wasnt sure about it it either. I think I’m gonna have to settle for a mi 8 lite or note 7, by the looks of the bands support.
Not sure if Poco F1 works for your area.
No, but I didn’t realise you needed B20, wasn’t mentioned. I’m in Europe and my carrier doesn’t even use B20, I get full 4g everywhere I go, I keep seeing people say they need B20, but not the case for everyone by any means
Waiting Mi A3 🙂
Wen in India? Great news! I’ll stay on this Hinor thing. Hoping for Poco F2.
is there something that we can do? maybe wrote downa petition, i want it soo badly…
Sadly it won’t put B20 in it.
Indeed. The rapid release schedule that Xiaomi is on could see the Redmi Note 9 be purchase ready in Dec 2019 or Jan 2020. Not that far off all things considered.
Even though I’m not gonna buy this phone it’s the 1st time I’m feeling good that I’m an Indian. When it comes to technology India always got high prices ( import taxes and all) pc parts,iPhones etc…
I’m still waiting for the base Note 7 lol, not yet available here.
Just buy China version and put xiaomi.eu on it, sorted.
^^i ^^dont ^^think ^^your ^^explanation ^^needed ^^that ^^detail
And no headphone jack.
Without headphone jack and with smaller, 3000mAh battery. Will pass.
India now forms about 40% of Xiaomi’s business. How much is EU or rest of the world combined even?
It can not even meet demand for RN7P in India itself how is it going to over-extend itself to meet markets where there is sporadic demand anyway and in the end have a situation where both markets are dissatisfied.
They are prioritizing because Indian market is very volatile currently with new entrants like Realme and Asus, Honor. And till April Xiaomi has no competition so its building capacity in a core market after China.
Secondly, this sort of thing is funny because now the countries in the West get to feel what rest of the world were subjected to for decades in the product-tech space where service or items weren’t available even when demand was still there EVEN at higher price points.
Meaning the products/services simply couldn’t be bought.
I’d say this is karma. Not good because people deserve good stuff but at least now they (only a gross minority) get to feel what others felt.
wow Indians use reddit now?
Its only been on sale for 2 days in India. This is upfront enough for a company whose decision making is so rapid cycle. They don’t plan things of this nature months in advance.
They can barely meet demand in India and April is going to see direct competition in the market against this device. This decision couldn’t have been made concretely months in advance without some worse shit happening later on.
Better to not say anything than having to backtrack.
Ffs now what? I’m trying to upgrade from an iPhone 6 😂.
Anyone have any suggestions on similar spec phones that have decent band support for Australia?
I’ve been waiting for this since January….need it to take good quality photos of my 6m daughter without carrying the MILC everywhere. Didn’t buy an expensive phone, because it was on the horizon and they pushed a new date every 2 week to announce something. Now I feel like I’m scammed by Xiaomi, because I skipped some good deals because of this …
Vaporware… I’m with kenzo right now and I’ll switch to Poco F1 this week. Poco F2 is nowhere near a release date and I don’t want to wait more months…
Waiting for Redmi 7 Pro in June/July.
Then I’ll wait for note 9. It’s not like they release a redmi note series only once a year.
Who pissed in your cereal?
Why would they not? They’re a business, who collects all of your data and uses it to market and sell to you. You’re the target customer because you think they’re your friend and they work for you, while you feed them money buying their phones. Truth is, they’re a business and will make money and sell phones when it’s profitable, not because theyre your friend and want to sell you cheap phones.
/r/hailcorporate
India and China are among the top consumers of iPhones, with China even matching US sales most years. Get off your nationalist rant, no one gives a shit that you live in India and have access to a greater variety of budget phones.
Sent from my Mix 2S that I use in the US
Any notch resembling the iPhone X’s is ugly to me. Teardrops are fine though.
Tf is your issue lol, westerners can’t seek a more price effective alternative? BTW, the Chinese buy just as many iPhones as Americans, so you fuck off
Imagine being upset at someone expressing discontent with a companies poor communication with it’s consumers, lol
Same here. My Whyred is still beasting. Poco F2 it is.
🙁 Note 7 camera is shit compared to the Pro version.. meeeh, i think that Note 5 will stay with me more 🙂
India and China are much much bigger and more important markets. Its also incredibly competitive which is probably why they’re selling it at loss if they do.
Europe isn’t a priority. Its a drop in the ocean compared the emerging markets.
Play where to ball is heading to, not where its at.
nah no idea – I dont think this is trivial otherwise everyone would be buying phones from China despite lack of official bands.
They want you to buy more expensive phones in eu
Redmi Note 5 is still a great phone.
Don’t go to Samsung, every samsung phone I had, went obsolete after a year and half due to programed obsolescence (I had several in the last 15 years, and family had several too, so I can tell) in the other hand my Xiaomi Is starting his 3th year (or more I think) and is not compromised for actualizations, the only problem now is battery bc I droped my phone in water 2 times, and battery connector bc I droped my phone connected to the charger a lot of times.
Im gonna buy them thru unofficial store.
You’re not gonna stop me Xiaomi
due to their sales strategy … which makes absolutely no sense
I guess I will be buying mid level samsungs instead of better hardware Xiaomis
Exactly. F1 never had true global support like the Note Global variants.
The Pocofone F1 never had a truly global version though. Not with band 4 which is important to many countries like the Note Global versions have.
It will block some stuff for some games that I play.
Didnt Note 7 launch like two months ago?
Meizu note 9, meizu x8, meizu 16x. But software won’t get updated as often for global meizu rom as xiaomi updates its global rom
If it releases in india it means it will have global rom. Now I don’t know if the Indian version would be classified as global, but I think so.
You’ll able to import the Indian version I’m sure
Would’ve bought it already but that notch is ugly
Whatever best value for money for now is pocophone f1 with Google cam
along with a hundred other xiaomi competing models
Any info about release?
Yep that’s not the Pro version
Yes, they can market more costly phones in European market, if rn7pro is absent there
I don’t know…
This one in stores :
[https://www.fnac.com/Smartphone-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-Double-SIM-32-Go-Noir-Cosmique/a13403622/w-4](https://www.fnac.com/Smartphone-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-Double-SIM-32-Go-Noir-Cosmique/a13403622/w-4)
The other version available through french marketplaces.
The “pro” one isn’t this one I guess :p
Same here, same here..
Based on Redmi Note history, even numbered Redmi Note doesn’t really bring anything new or “good” to the table. Redmi Note 2 is a handheld toaster, Redmi Note 4 is not as powerful as Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 6 is just Redmi Note 5 with notch and better front camera. I really hope Xiaomi bring something new for the 8th generation Redmi Note 8 but I really doubt that.
They probably don’t make money at all on this phone and don’t wanna lost India and China market at any cost.
It’ll probably be out in two months
Poco F2
Man I was waiting for this to replace my redmi note 3 pro… What are my options now?
So it looks like it’s gonna be another year of RN3 for me. A shame.
You mean the Redmi Note 8? Can I ask why?
The Pro version?
I don’t get it. It’s available here in France
Note 7 global has band 28 which I found surprising
haha I find that hashtag at the end kinda ironic :’D
For some people bands can be problem, however in Poland Plus (Cellular provider) and it’s MVNO’s doesn’t use B20, so this isn’t a problem as global or china won’t make difference.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/qualcomm-phones-add-lte-band-using-qxdm-t3785458
Haven’t tried it tho
Problem is the bands and dev support
Guys just buy rn7 Pro on gearbest and flash xiaomi.eu on it.
To enable bands you need to be Qualcomm Engineer.
I also have no idea how this benefits anyone including the company.
Yeah but now any upcoming release has the extra question of if it will even suit your region. And we won’t find out until each model is released most likely.
Well, for me it is. Newer SoC at lower technological process that is giving me hope that it would be more gentle to battery than base RN7. Also SD675 has only two high performance cores instead of 4 like SD660, so maybe that too will benefit in longer battery life.
Even RN5/6 with SD636 had shorter battery life than my RN4, so I think that almost the same SD660 but with higher clock speeds will drain battery even faster.
Of course, maybe I’m wrong.
And camera – seeing comparisons, Pro version is noticeably better.
Oh well, maybe Redmi Note 8 will finally meet my expectations and would feel like actual big upgrade without sacrifices 🙂
Mido is rare, but Whyred and Kenzo is still going strong 😀
I’m glad. Because people won’t compare RN7P to Poco F1 anymore
Yeah I was holding phone yesterday and was really surprised by that also. Never seen it before on pictures for example, but it’s really noticable in hand.
Fuck that
Yep, pretty happy Mido owner here 🙂
My previous phone was Redmi Note 2, so moving to Mido was amazing. Even if the CPUs seems to be similar, SD625 feel much better in terms of power, work culture (a lot cooler even at intense tasks) and first/third party support. Add to that lower (better) technological process and bigger battery and I got \~2x longer SOT, which I’m loving.
The only downsides I could recall are:
\-camera seem to be worse than RN2 (I have Samsung sensor). Yes, I know that with GCam photo quality could be improved, but I don’t find GCam ports reliable. They take too much time to take a single photo, it’s easier to take fuzzy picture when something moves and every single one I’ve tested, tend to crash often.
\-I wanted to give emulators and old-school games a try on my Mido, so I bought Daqi M1 controller. The controller works flawlessly with my family’s Galaxy S6, Huawei P9 Lite, heck, even at my old RN2 it connects and works great. But not on Mido (loses connection constantly) 🙁 Clearly something with BT chip in RN4…
\-Sometimes it lacks a “juice”, but maybe that’s because I have 3GB RAM variant (should have take 4GB, but I bought 3GB variant very cheap :))
Overall, great phone, I love it most of the times, but now I wish for a successor (especially in terms of battery life) 🙂
I’m here too!
If that’s true, they should release it in countries like Indonesia and malaysia too, but tuey don’t.
Agree. That’s super disappointing after all the buzz and hype… feeling like a kid that just got a very tasty looking cupcake to someone throw a cockroach on top of it.
That’s too bad, I have a cracked screen RN5pro and wanted to upgrade.
What the fuck does product strategy even mean when talking about larger product placement. What could that strategy accomplish other than fewer units sold. Product strategy? Can someone fill me in on that one. It’s probably something super simple but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.
They’re nuts. If I’m gonna spend $600+ I’ll buy a 6 month old used Galaxy. The Redmi note was value for what it did. Hope they backflip on this business plan.
I guess it’s programmed somewhere in the firmware which bands to enable. Or is there a different modem used in China version ?
Mido brother, is that you? I was hoping im not only one left behind 🙂
Like how?
I think they said.
It’s not part of the strategy.
I’d imagine the camera is the selling point and they want richer countries to buy the mi9 / mi8 bracket whereas in India this would be a big seller.
So is this their strategy going forward for future Xiaomi phones?
Some people have been waiting this phone for months. They could have told from upfront and saved us some time.
Umm. Maybe try the Mi A2?
Plenty good device.
Well shit, that’s really disappointing
AFAIK, Pocophone F1 has noticeable worse SOT than my RN4SD (and I was hoping that RN7 Pro would have similar results thanks to lower technological process of SoC), and Mi A3 probably would be same as Xiaomi gives them smaller batteries.
Why can’t you unlock the LTE bands. Don’t they all use the same Qualcomm modem ?
wait for the redmi sd855
Well, I guess I’ll continue to wait for Poco F2 news and hope it comes with LTE band 4.
Dissapointing but hoping they release a TW version. I don’t think TW models are considered global but they have many of the same US lte bands.
For the US, I agree. That was pretty much a deal breaker and the only important missing feature.
Ah, the rumoured Pocofone Ftwo.
I might get it if the bottom corner radius isn’t so comically huge.
yeah… because xiaomi 9 SE is coming
Knew it, I am in hongkong getting it Imported with minimal charge is still rather easy but I am fine with the regular note 7 since it is only going to be my second or third phone
I have pro 7 and it’s not at all impressive, I’d suggest you get the poco or upcoming mi A3.
United States in a rural area I can pretty much only pic up band 2 LTE where I’m at otherwise I go to 3g and that’s useless.
Damn I was waiting to get this for my mum after her note 4 took a dip in the ocean.
Can someone elaborate as to why Xiaomi would do this?
What country are you in?
Lucky for me I have 2 bands of compatibility in Japan so I can still pick up the Chinese model. Just hope the XDA devs support it.
> Outside of India and China you really need NFC in a mid range premium tier phone like this.
Not at all. Don’t know a single person who use it in my country.
Thank you Xiaomi for saving my money. Redmi Note 7 feel like a disappointment, but RN7 Pro was VERY temptating for me. Guess, I’ll stay with my RN4 (SD) some time longer.
Indonesia here, had 4 years and 3 device of nfc phone. Only used it to scan an ad to open their website when i was visiting hong kong.
your world is not the world. It’s just a little bubble you live in, try stepping outside
deleted ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^0.9718 [^^^What ^^^is ^^^this?](https://pastebin.com/FcrFs94k/26322)
Wow. Well that sucks… Xiaomi/Redmi is distinctly lacking decent phones with band 28 for Australia
>Outside of India and China you really need NFC in a mid range premium tier phone like this.
This is just not true.
Shame, guess im gonna stick with RN4X for another half year
I might get downvoted for this but I think this is a good move.
Outside of India and China you really need NFC in a mid range premium tier phone like this.
All my purchases and even transit card is now done using the NFC chip on my phone, currently using the Zenfone Max Pro M1.
This was already confirmed by Head of Xiaomi Indonesia two days ago. India and China only.
Guess I’ll wait for note 8.
Interesting. I wonder if they are going to slim down their product line or possibly adjust which product lines are released Globally vs China & India.
Perhaps the Note lineup will just be a Chinese option while the regular line will be the Global line.
No band 2 on China version.
You want to import it from China, friend.
Very disappointing 🙁
What’s the lte bands for China version?
Wait for Poco F2
I am waiting for the Pocofone F2 now. I’d like to imagine it is no more than six months away
Shit,,, what do I want now that’s in the same price range?
