Hi guys, I have a Redmi k40 gaming edition. And I am having issues with my Wi-Fi connection, even if I’m close to my router the phone won’t reach the maximum speed,
LANs
Oh no, a punch hole camera.
Happened with Instagram for me
Proffesor, you’re too harsh towards your students, teach us, senpai. Your insults sound like you’re the one that’s 12yr old.
Mi11 Ultra still has that stupid punchole, and for causal “conference video call” users, pop-up front camera is just perfect.
You have to have a screen without a notch or punchole to realize how good it is, or how rarely you use the front camera (pop-up is completely fine for that use, btw).
And you also have to see how camera pops-up when you just browse using Chrome, when you stumble on that one ad that wants to spy on you and has camera permissions.
Literally, pop-up front camera has no dowsides, and all upsides.
It works perfectly on my Mi9T Pro, and I would be sad to go bak to punchole or notch.
Here’s a link to durability test https://youtu.be/vq-762bEWac?t=499
Same here.
Oh basically the wifi 6’s speed. It was “transferring” data from one phone to another and 101 GBs took 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
Also all the people constantly suggesting everyone to avoid pop-up cameras because they’re “prone to damage”, even though they’re pretty damn resilient.
Wait.. I’m missing something..is the K40 LCD?
Same I don’t take selfies like ever so I would much rather the camera to just be hidden inside the phone as its much more fun to watch the clean screen.
the bezels kinda look a little “cheap” tbh
It’s just that after the Mi 9T and F2 Pro, AMOLED and pop-up were the defining aspects of the line, so it’s odd to get rid of both of them for no good reason.
What’s the app that they were using?
That…
is a very good question
Actually wifi 6 is much faster (mine can handle 2.5Gbps, not sure if this is the maximum), bottlenecking is not the router or walls, but the minimum of (reading and writing speed of the ROMs)
Probably punch hole is cheaper to implement and less prone to any sort of failure. Although K20 Pro has a really durable popup camera and has been working flawlessly so far. Pretty reliable. The technology behind it is impressive.
Im 100% sure wifi 6 is faster and writing/reading rom was bottlenecking the system.
My wifi 6 network card can handle up to 2.5Gbps sadly router can do 860mbps max 🙁
No, never. Who would I call? My school uses MS Teams and I’m on my PC for that.
Phones are getting into the phablet’s size zone.
If people remember what a phablet is lul.
The K20 pro is still overkill for 90% of smartphone users.
kinda feel bad that they moved on from the pop up cameras to punch holes.
It was what defined the K series.
Dropped my k20 literally once and since have not been able to open the front camera, ordered a case with a mirror on the back so I can use back camera for selfies now but I won’t be going mechanical again personally
Phones have been there for quite a while now.
5 years ago 6 inch phones were the biggest you would find. And we had tablets that were 7 inch or slightly smaller. Today’s flagships are 7 inch or slightly smaller and tablets start from about 10 inch size.
I’m not very trusting of gsmarena listings early on, but they listed the redmi k40 and k40pro as having 144hz IPS LCD screens…
6.67in is too damn big.
anything in the 300-400$ range? I can’t really shell out for a mi11, if I had that kind of money I’d be getting a pixel 5 instead
Im still holding onto my k20 pro because of the camera!
On completely unrelated topic how’s xiaomi’s oled screens? Honestly for me I prefer IPS for I always drop my phone and oleds tend to have the purple disease.
You wouldn’t want the mi 11 .. it’s too long and slender and the curved edges just makes it worse. I played with them many times in the store.
Provide evidence supporting the value of a cut-out/teardrop versus a pop-up. Mind you, I’m talking about actual evidence, not the faux-intellectual bullshit you’ve produced above.
You ltierally called everyone who disagrees with you an idiot in the first sentence of this conversation. That’s not “simply engaging in discourse”, stop making a bloody victim out of yourself.
Why are you speaking to that idiot
This is the correct answer here. Aspect ratio of phones have changed from 16:9 to 20:9 nowadays.
then go get pixel 5 instead lmao, why are you even complaining you can check other brands who have amoled displays with shittier specs on that budget range and have fun
You literally can’t. The camera software will quickly retract the camera once it senses a fall.
Me as well! Nothing beats unobstructed full screen view for me. Can’t really convince myself to move to punch hole lol.
Will wait for in display cameras before upgrading. Never liked the concept of notches personally.
Same here. Selfie camera has maybe been used 10 times for video calls and that’s it.
The screen with no holes or cutouts is great.
I think it’s in the security app, he use clone device (copy all data for the 1st device and send it to the other)
the same and i’m really sad about that
My jeans pockets ain’t getting deeper, though. Or my hands and fingers.
Though, my eyesight is getting worse.
Did you even watch the video? He dropped it with the camera open multiple times and literally lifted weights with the camera.
Is K40 the future RN10?
Glad to see a lot of people here voice out their disdain for punch hole front facing camera.
I mean why punch hole camera in the first place? I pay for a full screen, I better get the full screen experience.
How sped up is it?
They took it out because of all the apps that needed to secretly use the selfie camera while you were using an app, it would be way too creepy to just see your camera pop out at random moments
Lol the purple disease. I’ve never heard this term, but this is how my galaxy note 4 died for sure. It was awful!
> see my are you 12 years old commentary
I don’t understand this sentence.
In my country, anything from Elementary up to University is simply referred to as “school”.
Fix miui 12.2.4 first!
mi mover
didnt know why they do that.
PPL loved the pop up camera on the k20…
Any idea?
I really hate this trend of phones getting bigger and bigger… how is 6″ not more than enough as a screen size for a device you’re supposed to be able to carry at all times and use at a moment’s notice?
That cut out is a bummer…
Thanks, proffesor.
I’ve had a galaxy a7 2017 and the screen on those are prone to this problem. The glass wouldn’t break sure but the screen under would because apparently they made it so thin. Now I’m scared to try phones with oleds screens but miss using one.
I do, and that’s when I wait half a second for the camera to pop out and go on with my conversation. Much less of an inconvenience than having what’s essentially a built-in cluster of dead pixels at all times.
Was hoping for 6.9″ personally, or at least a new device in the mi max line
Wait.. I’m missing something..is the K40 LCD?
Good, that is you. I never use the front-facing camera on my smartphone, I would not miss it if it was not there at all.
so… another ips lcd… guess it’s time to get off the xiaomi train.
I have a k20 pro. The OLED is good on it. I dropped this phone hard so many times.. I chuck it 20 ft across the room to the couch all the time.. sometimes it bounces off and lands on the floor. Phone is completely fine. The secret is I use the included case. It is awesome..so slim and protects the phone so well..
But the bezels are a lot smaller, and the aspect ratio got a lot taller, so the diagonal isn’t a direct comparison. When looking at the specs, 6.67″ of my Poco F2 seems pretty similar to 6.9″ of a Mi Max 3, but putting them side by side, the difference is huge. Even when just looking at the specs, the full area of the Max is 154cm^2, while Poco is 125cm^2 (not accounting for the rounded corners). That’s 80% of the Max, while the diagonal is at 97%. Meanwhile, the body area of a Redmi Note 3, which was a big, but not outrageous phone 5 years ago was 114cm^2. So it is a 9% increase in size from RN3 to a Poco F2, but it’s still nowhere near phablet size, we still need 29% to reach that, even though it sounds similar when looking at the screen diagonal.
I’m against buying a new phone if your old phone still works fine, sure, make fun of me for it 🙂 Also, you do realize Redmi Note 3 Pro does not have a punch hole right? For your information, I will still look for phones with no punch hole when I buy a new one.
Secondly, why do you have to put Pro in quotations? Do you even know how quotations mark work?
People who speak like that only want to make others feel bad about themselves because he thinks he is better than everyone else. Don’t get baited by people like him
I dont get all the hate. It’s not like xiaomi doesn’t make other Amoled devices. Just get one of those.
That’s over 1Gbps of actual transfer speed. It’s a phone not a PC after all.
What is it showing exactly?
I have mi 10 and i feel the screen is great..no problems so far…
It is just that, they decreased the brightness of the screen after an update and havent fixed it since
[I don’t know, looks resilient enough for me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq-762bEWac&start=708)
