What about privacy? Are you saying under display camera won’t be secure?
I feel relief that Redmi K30 would have a qualcomm chipset and not Mtk… I am quite okay with other specifications. LCD screen does have its merits, it does emit blue light better, I had a Poco, my eyes didn’t get that tired on a LCD screen than my 9t now. Some posts explained if you have LCD screen, having on screen finger scanned doesn’t work well. And pop up front camera kind like disappears in most of other brands next year too (I wonder maybe they do have numbers of returns?!) Anyway, pop-up camera will make your phone heavier and thicker.. what I didn’t expect is Redmi K30’s outlook… So ugly.. omg….
Also, privacy
>punch hole camera
>side fingerprint scanner
What a downgrade
They’ll continue to be placed in high-end phones.
Check out the new 3D Sonic Max sensor announced by Qualcomm – much larger surface area and improved security by being able to scan upto 2 fingers simultaneously
actually looks like the 765 has integrated 5g modem. k30 5g variant could be powered by that midrange chip instead of the new flagship mediatek.
I agree that’s why I got this phone. I also work a lot outside and 400 Nits is not nearly enough to see during summer.
765 not 730 acc to the recent announcement.
My Redmi note 4’s physical fingerprint scanner has sucked balls for a long time, though it worked fine initially. I just do the pass code mostly because I know it doesn’t work most the time.
I have to get a hold of this device first before passing judgment.
Yea I thought that too, came from many large phones. I got the s10e and is an instant hit for me. I enjoy using it because of its size so much. I generally only do YouTube and some light Netflix which 5.8 is fine for. If I was doing serious viewing on the move I would get a tablet or galaxy fold style device.
6.3 would be okay, only if they had the smallest of bezels. But then you would lose out on stereo speakers etc.
Personally, I like screens at around 6,3 to 6,5 inches. They fit the hand and make for an enjoyable viewing experience.
I’m fine with the S10e size, although seems like S11e will be bigger. I just wish Xiaomi would make a phone around that size. I do understand it’s target market loves gigantic phones though.
I like how you say ‘I know preferences differ’ and some dickbag still downvotes you.
Samsung is making a new, cheaper fold that will snap in half like the razr. Maybe you’d prefer that.
k20pro here. best fking phone
The Mi 9T Pro is one of the top scoring models battery wise, OIS is nice to have but investing that much in a smartphone camera isn’t at all wise, there’s already 27W charging for the Mi 9T Pro and 1000+ nits…. I don’t understand how people can stand looking at 400+ nits for a prolonged periods of time, let alone 1000 nits of brightness. That much brightness for an AMOLED panel is a sure-fire way of assuring you get burn-in as soon as possible. Also, high refresh rate displays don’t play too well with battery life as of now – so, I’d suggest waiting a little longer.
To each their own
Yeah they release like 30 phones a year haha
I agree with you about the upgrade frequency, generally. I was just making a jab at Xiaomi about the number of phone releases, nothing serious 😛
Don’t you already have pop selfie? Think you’re going to do well to get all that. A lot of manufacturers seem to be moving away from some of that.
At least 4500mah. pop-up selfiecam. Decent camera with ois. Min. 1000+ Nits. 90hz display, 30w charging or more and some other software stuff.
What are you missing?
You are right but that has nothing to do with how many phones we buy or when we upgrade. Maybe Samsung releases one each year (making up the numbers) but maybe we upgrade every 3 or whatever.
If the previous user just got a 9T (which is not only brand new but a very good phone) then he shouldn’t be thinking about upgrading next year, regardless of whether Xiaomi has released 3 new phones or 30.
Don’t like this design at all. Side fingerprint scanner?
some say the side fingerprint reader means a lcd display. I really can’t imagine that they would put a lcd inside a “flagship killer” for 2020. I think the fingerprint sensor is just so that it’s more reliable. the underscreen sensor is just not mature or fast enough, and has been a personal frustration for all the mi phones I tried in 2019. Even if the newer generation from the same huiding company was used on some newer realme phones, I doubt they are going to be as good as a back or side sensor. I think they put it to the side to differentiate themselves as well as to save the space for the cameras.
I really think the round “accent” which has no purpose but visuals are just a blatant copy off Huawei and oppo’s visual cues, without actually being functional. They could and IMHO should have kept a clean back without that round key-hole like accent, while also avoiding looking like some kind of “knockoff”.
The weibo posts suggest they will use “top of the line” QUALCOMM 5G chipset. So it’s still to be determined if they will use a top end 5G (865)? or something else for the mid range. I am hoping that they will do the QUALCOMM route with a lower end model using mediatek, rather than the other way around. It’s one thing to put a fast performance value beater mediatek on a Redmi note 8 pro, but using them on a legendary flagship successor is just too much of a gamble that it’s practically suicide.
5g version will use mediatek. the 730g will not support 5g and is used in the standard variant.

del5eted.
del5eted.
I added the same finger four times, but to no avail. It’s just abysmal for me, for some reason.
It attracts customers 😉
ive heared that it has an 120hz lcd thats why it has no under screen fp scanner
I hate the static front facing camera.
The scanning speed varies for me as well, but not very wildly. In my case the convenience makes up for it.
As for the failed scans, one way to improve the situation could be rescanning the fingerprint and placing your finger in multiple positions. For wider data capture, so to speak. I did that with the back scanner on my Mi Note 5 Pro to eliminate errors.
I’ve had nothing but problems with my 9T. The worst part is that scan time varies from a few ms to more than a second, and there’s no way to tell how long it’ll take, which is extremely bad usability. Sometimes it’ll fail scanning completely and pops up the password dialog.
In contrast, the back scanner worked in 50 ms every single time.
Gotta agree with you this time since this phone is looking worse than it’s predecessor
If the side FP scanner is as fast as the back one then it’s better than the in display one.
tbh, Xiaomi can’t do anything if Qualcomm won’t release a new SoC gen.
I hope Qualcomm have a competitor, their year per year performance gain is pretty small, especially on their mid range chips…
Why tf are we going backwards
unpopular opinion: I miss my XZ1c side fingerprint, compared to current optical inscreen fp which is slower and less secure. Using Nillkin frosted case with it and getting instant response almost everytime I use it to unlock phone, but I have to pick it up first
Ironically, the same question can be addressed to Xiaomi, considering that they release new phones every few months.
I don’t agree. The quality and the speed of the scanner varies in different models, but I had no problems so far with my Mi9 Lite.
I do, however, very much appreciate the convenience of not having to pick up my phone to do a minor thing or look at the information on the screen.
The under-screen scanner sucks too. It’s the only thing I hate about my 9T, it’s frustrating as hell.
Nope. The phone is just a temporary device until I find my next flagship
I had the s8+ since day one and since there is no flagship that I liked, I went for midrange for a year until I find my next flagship.
Ooh, my bad, I just saw some more of the photos.
9T Pro is not even half a year old and you are already thinking on upgrading? lol
I would like a side mounted fingerprint scanner. I had a Honor 8x and switched to K20 pro. In display fingerprint scanner works in normal condition( though noticably slower and less reliable that dedicated hardware for scanner). If my fingers have little dirt or there’s some dirt on the screen then it can’t read well. At night when Reading mode(blue light filter) is on, it still has to turn that off for a sec for fingerprint to read. If you’re using in dark then the green light of the scanner will definitely leak a bit.
And also for some reason I have a hard time getting my right thumb get scanned properly.
You upgrade phones every year?
Such a weird move, I thought underscreen fingerprint scanners were the future for every upcoming medium-high budget phone. Also having one of those side finger scanners weakens the phone’s structure. Massive downgrade.
Downgraded fingerprint scanner? And screen punched front facing cameras, yeah.. this is a downgrade from the K20
We don’t have under display cameras yet
may I ask why you prefer a popul camera over an under-display camera?
Or better yet, an under-screen scanner. The thing does have an AMOLED screen that allows for that. Side-scanners do suck though, I agree.
I don’t understand why they’re trying to improve on perfection instead of just having a back scanner.
These rounded camera frames break so God damn easily massive skip on this one.
Oh and 730 Snapdragon big whoop
I bought the K20 because of the awesome popup selfie cam, such a pity this is no longer featured. I really enjoy having a screen without notches and holes.
If this supports band 41 ill insta buy this one. My reception here is pretty poor since I live in pretty crowded city.
I used to have a side fingerprint scanner phone and it was terrible, especially with a case
Just make a freaking small phone already
Just give me that sweet sweet 120hz all ready !!
Lol
Bought the 9T pro exactly because of the design choices they decided to skip this Gen. Guess who is going to another brand next year lol
Why does the camera look like a vagina?
