Will there be any reception issues on AT&T in the United States because of any lack of band support?
> LCD is just lackluster compared to a decent AMOLED.
I disagree. A good LCD can compete with any AMOLED in terms of accuracy, sunlight visibility and sharpness.
>I’d take AMOLED over LCD any day despite burn-in
Let’s just agree to disagree. I’ve avoided AMOLED screens since 2012. I won’t trade burn-in for a more vibrant screen.
That is a lie. The in-display fingerprintsensor works just fine when the screen is turned off.
No IR blaster?
ok, headpone jack, no notch, amoled, SD855, i’m sold
Whaaaaaat!!! This phone is crayzay!
That you can unlock your phone with your fingerprint while it’s sitting on a table
Yeah that’s my main concern, this phone looks amazing though.
Big enough battery
He said larger battery, not larger screen.
wtf no. top definitely is better.
Agreed, at least slightly smaller than the OnePlus 7 Pro with 6.67 inches.. you would really need to change the way of using your phone when your screen is so big you can’t handle it with one hand anymore..
6.4 inch I think. That’s large even in the modern inflated phone screen world.
It comes out tomorrow, lots of your concerns will be answered right away or in two days max. You can still buy the Mi 9 then, yet battery/no notch/audiojack/price alone make me think that sending back the Mi 9 I already had was a wise move. And even if not, I could imagine the Mi 9 would only get cheaper, so win-win.. 🙂
Yes, 7nm vs 8nm. But since it’s more powerful, the battery should be around the same
Why a popup camera. That’s just another mechanism to break. I was going to get this phone, but that stupid popup camera is a deal breaker.
4000mAh is enough for a 7nm SOC combined with a 1080p AMOLED
That’s good to know! I’m still using a Galaxy Note 3.. unfortunately the ROM I’m using isn’t supporting gestures.. I’m thinking about getting the OnePlus 7 pro.. but now the k20 popped up 👀.. the Mi Mix 4 is also going to be interesting I think.
Futuuúúuuuure
You can use a case with a popup camera
Don’t mind either personally, but people playing music on wired headphones, it’s natural to put in in your pocket top down so bottom jack can be preferable for that use case.
Sounds fair if you are okay with display size. Still, larger battery and better camera is doable. Why everyone is after SD855?
You are onto something, but not all named parameters and underlying HW are the issue. I know the 6350mAh pack size. Only pop-up camera module and Jack connector can be the issue. With drop notch and no Jack, it is easily doable. Still, nobody did that yet.
If it’s like the Mix 3 then I disagree. I couldn’t use the S9+, Note9, or XS Max but the Mix 3 works perfectly for me because of gestures. I only use one hand unless I’m in bed and then I only use two for movies and typing.
The 7 pro is a very good phone if you decide to go with that. The curved glass makes the screen size seem bigger but the dimensions are the same as my mix 3 iirc. Easy to use as well although I prefer my gestures. The 1440p and high refresh rate looks really good but I prefer my mix just because the slider is fun and I don’t like the curved glass. Id be down to use the K20 Pro but it doesn’t work on basically any U.S. carrier
Would you know of any models that have popup and cases available?
I guess they just leave a cutout for the camera to open?
I am guilty of doing that too lol
To a point yes, but after having Ulefone Power 3S with 6350mAh pack, seeing it is possible to do in acceptable package, and coming from Ulefone Power 5 With 13000mAh, everything else is too little. 😅. Now I have Vivo V15 Pro with AMOLED, new SD675 and 3700mAh, it is not even acceptable in my book. Maybe I’m I’ll with this
😂
My stick is hard.
Don’t be, it’s a good phone!
Please please pleeeeeease support global LTE bands…..
r/madlads
Yes there is actually, updated info has shown. See GSMArena or other sources.
EDIT: nevermind, GSMArena was wrong.
How many times do you even use the front camera?
Well, it’s not really cutting corners since they weren’t intended to be sold in the US. One time they actually did make a phone with global LTE bands which was a special edition of the Mi Note 2. I’m not aware of any other recent Xiaomi devices that support US LTE bands.
How big is the screen?
There were already reports of Samsung investing in the tech way before Oppo and Vivo.
Jack on top… 😢
I’m so hyped for this K20 series, even non pro model sounds pretty good
>No IR blaster
:'(
Burn-in 😥
I hope they have a black color
I can confirm this. As can every review of the mi 9. Also, it’s battery life is insane.
I think at the moment it’s only a China release.
Yep!
Sadly no.
> My stick is hard.
No micro SD card slot?
Don’t shatter my dreams.
Probably. Gotta cut corners somewhere.
I have the Mi9. If you touch the part where the scanner is it lits up green and scans your finger. Let me know when you read up your facts and then we can discuss, but stop spreading lies
i only wish its below 200g… 180g would be ok less than that would be perfection
I really hope they wont pull another 210g phone…these are really hard to hold after a while
Then technically samsung s10 copies in display fingerprint of oneplus 6t, just they developped different tech for it.
Samsung doesn’t need to copy someone else (they don’t have notch on s9) yet they chose in display fingerprint in s10. It’s clear that it’s the future
a headphone jack on the bottom would have been better, but it has one so no complaining
Ok I think I found where they cut corners so it can be cheaper. From the looks of it, it has a plastic build! Now I don’t know if I should wait for this or get the Mi 9 urgh
Mi 9 pros
*probably better camera
*better hand feel, materials
*probably better screen (calibration, HDR, etc)
*IR blaster
Redmi K20 pros
*3.5 mm jack
*microSD card slot
*no notch display
*cheaper (?)
*bigger camera (edit: i meant battery)
I’m in the same boat, waiting to see the full reveal before buying either the Mi 9 or K20 Pro. Design wise, I think the Mi 9 looks a lot more premium though. For me, it’s going to come down to which LTE bands this phone has.
is sd855 in theory more efficient than sd730?
What’s going on for cases with pop-up cameras?
I need a case when I use a phone.
You can’t compare them. It’s near impossible to put a 6350mAh in the K20 Pro. The Ulefone doesn’t have a toptier SOC, a popup camera, 3 camera modules, 8gb RAM, headphone jack, etc. It’s just a bad phone with a good battery.
I’d take AMOLED over LCD any day despite burn-in. My 3 year old OnePlus 3T has only the statusbar burnt in and that too isn’t visible most of the time, and it happened only because I use the device outdoors a lot at full brightness.
I feel you can easily prevent status bar burn-in by using apps to hide it when you’re outdoors. LCD is just lackluster compared to a decent AMOLED.
Yeah, i use it to change channels in other tvs like at the gym or hospital.
To be competitive one needs to copy. That is why everyone including Xiaomi and other brands are after in display fingerprint reader otherwise one would be left out.
>if you are okay with display size. Still, larger battery and better camera is doable.
Bloody hell larger? The one problem with this is that it’s too big.
>AMOLED display will burn in
So does samsung note 5,7,8,9 and samsung s7,8,9,10. Don’t see a lot of people complaining about it.
Also if they have enough money, they’ll prefer iPhone Xs than Xr even though Xs have AMOLED.
>asus flip camera is better
Then buy it, it’s got LCD too right which you prefer
>In-display fingerprint is a gimmick
Nope, if it is why would companies like xiaomi, who focus on price prefer to pay more just for a gimmick?
Well, AMOLED allows the phone to be thinner while also supporting an in-display fingerprint scanner. And very few LCD panels can come close to the contrast and vibrancy that AMOLED offers.
The only major tradeoffs I can see are the lesser subpixel density and potential burn-in. But the risk of burn-in is very low in good quality panels such as the one in the iPhone X/XS. It just depends on how good the Redmi panel is.
Very rarely, but it’s the fact that it’s just another thing that can easily break and make this portion of the phone useless.
I love plastic build
And no curves screen 👍👍
Ease. It’s just easier to use. Scanner on the front > scanner on the back.
Nope. The back is difficult to reach when placed on the desk.
Few phones with side mounted fingerprints have problems with reliability.
Simcard on bottom? Weird flex but ok
Doesn’t seem like. It’s a microphone on the top end. Probably the only thing needed to actually cut costs 😂
So this is poco 2? Or another model
Bought mi 8 for $360 two months ago..now I am regret it…
I’m usually into white phones, but in this case I was aiming for blue. However now seeing how it looks, I’d be glad if there was a more neutral option… I know some dig the design of the back, I don’t 🙁
