I mean it’s way more likely that than every MIUI 11 phone getting android 10 the same day.

I am hoping, because for now mi9 is left so far behind. It is still on 10.2 while the rest have gotten 10.3 much earlier. Mi 9 is a flagship, why hasn’t it received more frequent updates is beyond me

Kind of dumb that it doesn’t show in the updater in the settings. As far as I know you can only download the update from the internet, someone correct me if I’m wrong.

    I have a Chinese K20 Pro btw.

It’s because Xiaomi ceased global development on the Mi9 and other devices so the development team could focus on Miui 11 on Android Q. Until then you could always go install the Xiaomi.EU rom which is frankly better than stable build anyway. Plus, the latest builds have a lot of Miui 11 ported features.

You impatient people are hilarious. Samsung and similar companies up date once a year for two years and then nothing.

Xiaomi temporarily stopped Miui 10 development on global devices, to better focus on finishing Miui 11 which comes using Android Q, how do you guys not know this already?

Plus, Xiaomi supports devices as old as 5 years, and no one else besides Essential has this level of support and Essential has one device.

Meanwhile Xiaomi has maybe 50 devices that they actively support. To go on. Miui 11 with Android Q will be out very soon and it will be awesome. If you want it sooner, then use the Xiaomi.EU rom, that is if your bootloader is unlocked.

Samsung has really stepped up their game lately. I don’t think it’s fair to say they don’t update frequently/quickly enough.

What do you mean stepped up their game?! They’ve always “stepped up” their game but updates were always slow and they had max 2 major updates for flagships which is funny at most. Nothing changed through the years with them not with samsung experience or One UI… They’re still the same slow updaters…

I get no permanent notifications, whenever I watch Videos and turn the phone around it gets stuck, the hotspot is not working properly and the fingerprint reader does not work all the time. Thats all things that could’ve been fixed with updates months ago.

The phone is buggy af compared to the Samsung flagships. I get no permanent notifications, whenever I watch Videos and turn the phone around it gets stuck, the hotspot is not working properly and the fingerprint reader does not work all the time. Thats all things that could’ve been fixed with updates months ago. I don’t have the time to unlock, flash and risk getting stuck somewhere. The product is just shitty as it is now. Denying that is just fanboy behaviour which is way more hilarious than impatient people.

Then go buy a Samsung. Unlocking the bootloader and flashing roms is so easy that I taught my 14 year old daughter how to do it. The issues that you describe are android Pie issues. You simply need to figure out how to setup battery management and notification management. For example, Select what apps you want running in the background VS the ones that you don’t. If you are using 3rd party apps for things such as messages. Calendar, etc they will need to be set as the default app and also within app management you need to select the importance level of the notification.

Again, this a Pie thing, go to XDA and choose any brand at random and you will find plenty of noobs crying about not getting their notifications. Including on Samsung. I. Not my problem that you can’t optimise your phone 🤷‍♂️ I get 6.5-7 if I’m on LTE only and really thrashing the thing.

I know this ofc and set up everything like that months ago, yet to get permanent notification in the status bar I have to use a third party app. That is not a pie thing its a MIUI thing. And all the other issues? Also Pie thing? I’m happy for your daughter, yet I will have to set up my phone new and if anything goes wrong spend a full day recovering that fuck of a phone. I know how to flash roms dude…

Edit: and about the buy a Samsung advice.. that’s what I am going to do next time obviously

I can across like an ass earlier and I apologize for that. Your phone should hold its value pretty well if you decide to sell it soon and you will hopefully not lose too much of your investment. On the other hand, if you can give it some time until Miui 11 is available, you may find that you end up liking it after all. Miui 11 will be much more streamlined and similar to OneUi, and the release should happen any day now.

One last thing, I also didn’t like Miui very much at first but it grew on me, especially after switching to the XiaomiEU builds which generally have more features and less bloat. Good Luck.

I appreciate that! Since I will have the hassle to set a new phone up too when I buy another one now I will definitely wait and be salty until MIUI 11 is released. I just really really hope it will fix the problems! Enjoy your day.

Here’s the link for Indian version. If anyone’s curious for the release of Indian version.

PS: I didn’t download it yet power gave up midway.

Because the global ROM is the last in line. Xiaomi priority is China.

Considering the how minor the updates are on recent android versions I don’t get why people get so excited about them.

Same for me, but it will take some weeks I think.
The next device to get Android 10 from Xiaomi will be most likely the normal Mi9, then maybe the Mi9T Pro, then the K20 and then maybe the Mi9T

I got the K20 Pro from a Chinese seller, who installed the Global ROM on it before shipping. So, my question is, will I get updates from Xiaomi, like as usual? Or is it gonna be from the developer of the Global ROM? Are they the same people?
