I’ve been looking at the photography kit for the 15U.
I assume you don’t need to keep it fitted all the time and can remove it when you don’t need it.
My question is, does fitting and removing the kit do any damage to the phone?
Does it leave any scratches for example.
I’d be attaching the kit when I want to use the phone as more of a camera and removing it when I don’t need that feature.
I don’t see any pocket being able to fit the device with the kit attached.
I was nervous about the metal thumb grip because it is *very* close to the screen, but I’ve been using the kit for a month with no damage.
I use the phone without it day to day, then fit it on days when I am going to take lots of photos or sometimes if I know I’ll be using a load of battery on something so the kit will help.
I leave the thumb grip attached to the main grip all the time then fit the unit when I am using it, hence why I was nervous about it originally.
Just to note mind – I am weird and keep my phone in a zipped bag in my pocket, I don’t know if you are elikely to get grit between the thumb grip and screen in more normal use.
Also note the removable shutter button appears to have fallen off for a fair few people, though mine has never come loose.
I’ve found very little information about the photo kit. Good to know it does come in sections.
Will need to remember to practice with the case a lot when I get one.
Thank you
I haven’t received mine, they’ve been giving these out as early bird gift where I live but it’s super slow. That said, I think people usually just use the case most of the time, it’s more or less like a regular phone case, and only attach the grip when needed. That way it shouldn’t be damaging the phone at all.
There are plenty of YouTube videos from the 15 Ultra release which show the photo kit, you’ll be able to see how it goes together on those
Absolutely great information. Thank you for sharing.
Five stars.
The kit comes in two pieces, a snap on phone cover just like any normal phone cover, then the grip/battery pack which just sides over that cover and into the usb port. No different to putting any other snap on case on your phone although some people have complained that the case is extremely tight and hard to get back off one fitted
I take it out at weekends, and during the week at work swap it for my other case.
It isn’t that thick at all, fits fine in the pocket. But this is from the perspective of a man’s trouser pocket.. not wearing skinny jeans, or women’s clothes.
I don’t bother with the extra thumb grip, or elevated shutter button, that’s just asking to snap or to get lost somewhere. You don’t need it.
You’re a star. Cheers
