Yeah that’s fair, sorry if I came off snarky. Reading my comment back I sound like a douche, I apologize for that. I just have had negative experiences with Xiaomi products myself and I let some frustration out
Try use the browser instead
No niestety
Yup, but i dont think i would recommend buying one. I had problems with throtlling, but after undervolting CPU and GPU temperatures are ok.
OK I had a xiaomi gaming laptop with the same problem. The way i fixed it is unorthodox. All you do is first, open the back cover up and come face to face with the fan, then knock the shit out of it like you are Mohammed Ali. Don’t kill your laptop and bear with me. This fan has a floating bearing on the bottom and if that is off centered, it will make this sound. Knocking it enough times might give it a chance to make it return to its rightful position.
What is your country and what model of laptop is this?
Did you try it?
In my case it doesnt matter if the charger is connected or not.
It sounds like its scrapes fan housing, but ill check if fan is damaged
Yeah take the fan out and replace it.
“Hey my house is on fire what should I do?”
I didn’t even know that xiaomi makes laptops
I have both, and i turn it off as soon as it starts vibrating
Buy a new fan the bearings are gone on this. Oil fixes it temporarily for around 3 days atleast in my piece of shit HP laptop
But is it a longterm solution?
Hey they are hard to get and only place i can get it from is aliexpress (delivery on 12 April) so i Ask if there is any other solutions. And thanks capitan obvious you can fly away.
Ohh I see you are men of polish yourself
It’s more or less a chance thing this one. Sometimes a light tap can revert the position of the bearing, sometimes I basically smashed it and it still didn’t work.
Pit some oil in fan bearings. Laptop nice quiet now
Looks like Cochise intro from Audioslave 🤟
To ciekawe, czegoś nie ma w Polsce?
Old thread, but I tried replacing my fan that made the same noise and now both the old and new fan don’t work. I would, however, suggest getting the dust and hair out of your laptop if possible
I know this thread is old, but maybe I could help someone. I have the same problem with my fans too. When one was making this noise every time I turn it on, I decided to clean and lube it or buy new one (the price isn’t that much, but you have to order it from China and wait month and I didn’t want to be without laptop for that long). So I just opened laptop, took the fans out and tried to clean it, not helped me at all. Then I dissembled the fan (just remove black sticker from it) and lube it with wd40, the only thing I had. Then I just sticked another sticker protection cause old one was ruined and everything worked for me for 5-6 months, then I did the same to other fan cause it also started to make noise, worked for me too. Now, the reason why I found this thread because my first fan started to make noise once again… Don’t want to dissemble it and make all that until it will appear every time i turn it on.
So yeah, it’s the common problem with mi gaming laptops and yes, it can be fixed
true lmaoo
Hey, I’ve got the same Laptop.
I don’t have the problem, however i remember someone in some forum saying he has the same problem.
Fix was removing the black sticker on top of the fan, i don’t know if it will help in your case.
I would also recommend re-pasting the CPU and GPU, will greatly improve thermals.
If the blades aren’t damaged, check the fan’s axle. Probably dry (no lubrication) or dusty or there’s particles in there.
I’ve fixed one before by wiping it down with cloth and applying a bit of vaseline.
But still thanks for advice
How did you fix it?
Xiaomi gaming laptop, Poland i guess i will just order it from Ali
Centrifugal force holds it in good Axis i guess
>w did you fix it?
I have replaced it once. But it happened to me once again few days ago. I have opened laptop, took of the fans and very gentle take blades out from bearing (if you are not gentle it is easy to damage it) then used a less then drop of olive oil on blades and put it back. Also changed thermalpaste and cleaned dust off. I used this tutorial to open: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eLoErqc8SI
Unfortunatelly i checked stores and it is not avaliable in my country.
With almost all laptops you need to at least change the thermal paste. I bought a “brand new” HP gaming laptop and it too throttled, even after undervolting. After a year and a half one of my fans went bust (stopped working entirely), repair shop changed my thermal paste and both fans under warranty and I’ve not had thermal issues since (4 months).
Vacuum clean it for dust
>at made the same noise and now both the old and new
How did you broke 2 sets of fans tho?
Fan has fallen apart or it will soon fall apart.
As avid user of laptops this happens quite a lot in gaming laptops. Well it happened alot to me. You should check warranty if you have it and service it that way, other option is any service cleaning and ordering new fans, though those new fans would last around 6-7 months of heavy gaming usage.
Instead of what?
Wait until you find out they make scooters, vacuums, and air purifiers.
Your fan sounds like construction workers at 3 am
the laptop fan’s bearing were gone, that’s why the plastic rattles. I never open a Xiaomi laptop before so I don’t know if it’s possible, but replacing laptop fan shouldn’t be difficult
Mhm fairs, I did the swap to an SSD in my laptop whilst have the HDD that it came with as an external backup drive, so yea the vibrations didn’t affect me
Have you tried removing the fan?😂😂
It’s 2018 version
Open up the laptop and check for fan damage
Thank you. It should help me with disassembly
It’s a feature. This way you feel the true power of your GPU
Easy solution. Stop buying Xiaomi products. They’re a crummy CCP company that charges little in exchange for your data which they give to the Chinese govt.
the same with me lol, the first ones got broke so I got another set and now the GPU fan is broke 🙁
I did it 3 weeks ago when it all started
Take a look at your fan’s maybe this will help [Fixit](https://www.how-fixit.com/laptop-repair-guides/xiaomi/disassembly-xiaomi-mi-gaming-laptop/)
You’ll need to open it up and clean the heatsink fins and path of dust. If you are comfortable reapplying thermal paste that never hurts if you do it right and may actually improve performance past stock
Well i’m a student and it was about 17% cheaper than same specs MSI or Asus. Also it was looking pretty solid and didn’t have big ass dragon on a back.
Jesus that fan is very poorly built.
It’s either one of the blades that got broken and are now hitting something or the engine died and it’s not hitting itself while working. You should RMA it, honestly.
Mine is ok when i turn it on and it starts up correctly but i have to turn on turbo mode (fans) do it stays in a correct axis. If it turns itself off for a sec it could tilt itself and start the noise.
well im not sure but as far as i remember i had simmilar problem with other fan and the way i fixed it was similar, i just used vacuum cleaner. I just sucked sh1t out of the fan and it stopped moving so i just pushed it and it is working since then, but it didnt help with this one.
Sound like an old ps4 fan
That is not the case. This fan is metal and really hard to find and have to come from China
These fans are generally cheap, my laptop is of Lenovo not Xiaomi so not exactly helpful but I remember violently removing half of the fan blades whilst cleaning the fan with compressed air. My laptop ended up feeling like a vibrator for a good month. Bought a replacement quick and easy from eBay and it wasn’t expensive just make sure that you have the part number.
Word of advice, if you plan on using it in the state it is in, I pray to god that you have an SSD and not a hard drive.
If knocking doesn’t cut it, shake it. Or if you are really confident, take it out and fix it that way. The sound does not come from the fan knocking the housing, its all the bearing.
xiaomi has gaming laptops too?
The fan’s probably shot. Check the fan blades if damaged.
No noise from my thing since last September. Funny thing is that I fixed it AFTER I ordered the replacement fan so I just have one laying around.
Well it’s not a software problem lol so I’m not sure what solutions you are asking for. It’s the fan at fault. Of you’ve not taken the fan out to investigate then you’re not trouble shooting. It could be a super generic fan used on loads of laptops and a local store could have it. It’s not made by Xiaomi.
As far as i know they make laptops for chinese (and maybe indian) market
Thx now My grandpa is having a seizure and he’s screaming HELICOPTER, AMERICAN
XMI7-GTX1060, ready for take off.
Permission granted, XMI7-GTX1060 cleared for take-off
Broken fan bearing. Take it out and try finding a similar one on ebay. Often these are just generic fans.
Nice use of contrast in this animation 🙂
I tried taking off the sticker and it didn’t help, also it was repasted 2-3 weeks ago.
Yes big difference. Worth doing. It could be something stuck in fan blade. If not put bit oil in.
Can search YouTube how to do it
