I had exactly the same issue on my note 9 pro, it’s been replaced and that one has been fine since.
Do you play a lot of games ? When mine was doing this I was playing a lot of real racing and wondered if it was over heating and affecting the digitiser
It started doing this about 1 to 2 months ago. Didnt really play any games tbh. Now I play some CSR2 but thats about it
😂 that’s so funny. I’m a new comer to Xiaomi brand—bought a Note 9S a few days ago. I’ve encountered some minor software bugs here and there. I just hope I never encounter something like this, which is obviously a hardware issue. Hate to say this, but I think I should have gone for Samsung instead. 😕 I don’t know, but something says I probably regret buying this phone.

Well but the specs Samsung gives u at the same price it will be lag/hang simulator no joke my experience with Samsung I got M21 same price as A21s and yet much much much better and that is a laggy piece of garbage and A21s has a much worse processor then M21 so it will be worse

You are right about the price, that was not my point though. originally I wanted to buy A52, but eventually settled with Note 9S… But after reading this sub and GSMArena reader opinions section, I think it would have been wiser to pay a little more and get a better product.
Well, anyhow, fortunately my Note 9S came with Android 10 and MIUI 12 and apart some annoying bugs (one being “[X app is drawing on top notif](https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/cannot-disable-notifications-about-app-x-is-displaying-over-other-apps-mi-9t-pro-with-miui-11-0-2-stable.52905/)” which is a 2 year old bug) I have not encountered anything serious. I hope it stays that way.
U won’t face much my mom got redmi note 7 in march 2019 even tho we sold it last month it never had any major bugs just once when my mom woke up the phone suddenly started showing system error something and required a reset like it wasn’t even opening the os got corrupted on its own even tho my mom woke up couple of hours ago and checked the time but it only happend once and one time it got stuck in a boot loop but holding the power button fixed it even I got redmi note 10 pro because redmi phones r value for money
While MIUI12 is a buggy disaster, what OP shows is a hardware issue. Any brand can suffer from this
Ahh… I said it myself in the post “it’s obviously a hardware issue” and where did I imply that other brands can’t suffer from this?
look, I just expressed my feelings about my purchase. I don’t care about brands. From the downvotes it’s obvious some people got it as something as pathetic as Xiaomi vs Samsung or whatnot.

It’s difficult to reproduce, it happens only once a day. Do Xiaomi accept the return ?
How to know if it a hardware issue ? I hesitate to try a custom ROM but I would lose the warranty
I explained the issue and they’ve said they’ll take the phone in for repairs. Ive reset the device and only put this video in the gallery. Ive put a note with the phone explaining the issue and that ive put a video on it showcasing my problem. I hope they manage to fix the problem because the phone called 112 (dutch 911) once and I couldnt cancel the call…

It did it on my X3 but stopped after a while. I’m guessing miui updates botched it . Now i don’t have picture in picture apps too
Before you send back your phone, PLEASE backup your data and factory reset it and see if the problem still happens.
When I had my first smart phone, a very weird camera bug happened and I had to return it, but when I got it back, ALL my photos, videos, data, EVERYTHING was gone, (also my clash of clans base).

Already made sure that everything was back upped 🙂 Thanks for the tip though. Did a factory reset but the problem is so hard to replicate that using it now wouldnt guarantee that its solved

I tried some tips seen here and there without success :
– refresh rate from 120 to 90Hz
– disable and reenable MIUI optimisation
– factory reset
But it come back
same, it’s a common problem then

It happened to me also a couple times.
It never happened before the latest update to Miui 12.0.1.0.
I’ve read somewhere someone reporting touch issues on 12.5 and advising for people to standby before updating.
Anyway. In my case, it happened in the launcher screen while a touch screen test app revealed no problems whatsoever with the touch sensitivity anywhere in the display. Single touch, multi touch, swipe. No problems. So, I just rebooted, twice, and moved on with my life.
Hope it’ll get fixed soon through an OTA update.
